Concept Of Sectionalism

In American History we are currently studying the concept of sectionalism. Sectionalism is a division within a country based on regional beliefs and interests. In the early mid 1800’s, sectionalism in America grew as slavery divided the Nation. Slavery was ignored, compromised, and argued about by the states until the conflict drove our country into the Civil War. Although regional differences are not as distinct these days, many issues are currently causing division among the states and people of our country. These issues lead to what our history class describes as “modern sectionalism.” One such issues is the Iowa Falls and Alden School consolidation/dissolution.

They say that they think that it is better for the IF 6th graders to get educated in Iowa Falls. That is basically saying that they don’t like Alden, they don’t like the teachers, and they don’t like the teaching styles. That is honestly a slap in the face to the Alden teachers, I loved to Alden teachers they were very good. And it says that the less transitions are better, but in the real world there are going to many transitions and it is just going to get them ready. And if the really wanted to cut down on transitions they could make a school with K-6 like Alden. Look at my class we have great grades with all the transitions, you just have to work hard for the grades and be focused. Also that there a approximately 30 minutes gone from learning, I say that if is that big a deal the, then why didn’t they just do this a long time ago. They should have know that they were getting into when we started the consolidation. They could also have them get to school a little sooner but I know that put the whole school off and I don’t think they would want to do that. Also they could cut down on the study hall time. They also say that Iowa Falls is safe and nurturing environment. What the heck! That is another big slap in the face to Alden. So from that I get that Iowa Falls doesn’t think that Alden is safe or can’t nurture the students like Iowa Falls can. Let me tell
