Christianity and Islam are two of the world’s largest religions. The two are different in beliefs but are similar in origin. Like many religions both Islam and Christianity claim to be the one and only true way to God. Although Islam and Christianity differ in major ways, they also share some similarities.

While it is true that both Protestantism and the Eastern Orthodox worship the same God, Roman Catholics differ by their own beliefs over certain matters. A person who follows Catholicism is called a “Roman Catholic” or simply a “Catholic”.

The religions Judaism and Christianity are two of the five major belief systems. Some of the similarities they share are: they are both monotheist, believe in the afterlife, and they share the old Testament in their Holy Book. Some of their differences include: the Jews believe that Jesus isn't a divine being and the Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah, and their holy ceremonies are guided by Rabbis, for the Jews, and Priest, for the Christians.

Next, going to a baptist church had some similarities and difference compared to going to a synagogue. The similarities were that they are both places where people in the community come together to pray and worship God. Another similarity is that there are parts of the service where there are readings from either the torah or bible that are long and boring. There are also parts of the service where there is standing and singing. Furthermore, there’s also the similarity of there being one person who leads the service, in a synagogue its a rabbi, and in church it’s a pastor. The rabbi or pastor speak and the community listens or participates when asked. A final similarity that I noticed is that at both synagogues, and African American baptist churches the services discuss topics that are culturally significant.

The differences derive from theology. Both Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Catholics understand God to exist in three forms, known as the Trinity. God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father refers to God’s role as the creator of the world. The Son refers to Jesus. Finally, the Holy Spirit, they believe, enters people's souls during their daily lives. Another similarity is that holding reverence for the saints plays a central role in the spiritual lives of Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. The physical representation of the saints tends to take different forms, however. Roman Catholics usually use statutes to represent their saints, as evident in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church; meanwhile, Orthodox Catholics more often use paintings to represent their saints, as evident at St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Church. Another difference between the two is that for Roman Catholics there is a procedure for choosing officially sanctioned saints. This process does not exist in the Orthodox community. The central doctrinal divide between the two Christian churches concerns the Pope and his supremacy. Roman Catholics believe the Pope is the living embodiment of Jesus. There are many differences between the Catholic doctrines and the Reformation doctrine. While there are many differences, there are some similarities. The comparison and contrast of these three doctrines will show the difference of how religions have split apart over time. There are very little similarities because of the fact that they may agree on one issue but the underlying way that the conclusion was made are different from each other. The idea that good people go to heaven can be debated as being a difference between the two because of the fact as to how believers go to heaven. The Roman Catholic Church believes that those who go to heaven have been following all their life and have not done any wrong in life will be allowed to heaven. Protestants believe that if you have shown your faith to God and shown that you give your life to him, you will be saved and brought up to heaven and have a life with God.
