What is corporate culture? Sometimes it is can be referred to as organizational culture, or simply the culture of ones company. There are also many definitions for what the culture of the company is. Defined by Lydiah Wairimu Wambugu in the European Journal for Business and Management, “Organizational culture comprises the unwritten customs, behaviors and beliefs that determine the "rules of the game" for decision-making, structure and power. It 's based on the shared history and traditions of the organization combined with current leadership values.” (Wambugu, 2014) Corporate culture can seem overwhelming, but when looked at and broken down is can be very simple. In its most bare definition it can simply be put, how a company conducts business. Knowing a little about corporate or organizational culture, I wanted to propose a question and do some research to find out if, corporate culture is the driving force behind the success of companies? In the 21st century we see a lot of companies both large and small open and close their doors it seems almost daily. You tend to hear about a company for a little while, then they may get bought out by a larger organization or simply they may go under and shut their doors. I wanted to figure out why that is. Is there one certain variable that all successful businesses have in common and if so what is it. I do not think we have to look much past the very onset of each company and that is their culture.
