I believe I should be awarded the Courage To Grow Scholarship for many more reasons than one. To begin with, I am a smart, determined young lady with an ambition to succeed. To me, most setbacks lead to major comebacks, and during downfalls I make it a priority to continue to fight towards whatever goal it is that I have set for myself. Being that I am a hard working individual, I go the extra mile to get any and every goal I have set accomplished. I always find myself setting new goals to make bigger accomplishments because I prefer the thrill of overcoming challenges that your average person would give in to. In addition, I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because I am an African American girl who wants a fair chance of pursuing
I strongly believe that I deserve the “Courage to Grow” Scholarship, because not only am I a dedicated and hardworking growing young adult, but I also incorporate those traits to what I value the most, school. Ever since I started school, I have worked hard to where I am now. I have a 3.8 G.P.A. On a 4.0 scale which I have worked long nights for. Since throughout all of high school I have been, an still am, involved in many extracurriculars such as DECA, Interact Club, Spanish Honor Society but also managed to be involved in sports as well like Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field and Cheerleading. Being a top, varsity athlete in all, has taught me many valuable traits which have helped also become a wonderful young adult.
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because of my effort in my past twelve years. There have been many times where I wanted to give up on school, but my motivation arose from my parents and their struggle to keep my sister and me in school. Being from Guatemala, their goal was for me to get my education, and if I didn’t try I would be letting the opportunities slip through my hands. Throughout my four years of high school I’ve had sleepless nights, about 100 cups of coffee, endless alarm clocks, and stressful test days to get myself where I am now. I am twelve out of the one thousand and ninety-nine seniors; my GPA is a four point five. In the end it was all my effort. Without me pushing myself, I wouldn’t have been here awaiting
Scholarship, Leadership, service, and Character, all four are an asset that one needs in their life. Scholarship drives you to do your best in your academics and to never let go of your dreams. Leadership is stepping up and offering to help with everything that needs to be done, help those who are less fortunate. Service is going out and making an impact on you community. Character is being you and to not letting anyone change the way you act or think about an issue. Scholarship has made me work as hard as I possibly can so I can go far and achieve every goal I have set for myself. Leadership has taught me to be the one to step up when a leader is needed and to step out of my comfort zone. Service has showed me what all is needed to be done
My parents have given me an incredible life. Even when times are tough financially, they always take care of my needs, and even my wants. I have had an incredible childhood with just enough family dysfunction to teach me lessons necessary to mature. I believe that I should be awarded the Courage to Grow Scholarship because although living with my parents in my comfortable home for the rest of my life sounds comfortable, I want to branch out in order to gain new lessons and experiences from the world.
In conclusion, I believe that I am deserving of this scholarship because I am a focused, experienced, and well rounded student who has many more goals to achieve. This is justified by my past actions and my plans for the future. I am goal oriented and driven, making me the best candidate for this scholarship.
I work hard for what I want and what that is now is to get a college degree from Marshall University. I believe I should be selected to receive this scholarship because not only am La dedicated student academically, I am also devoted to helping my community through community service. I hope that I will be able to use my education to give back to my community in someway. Education is a major key to success not only in the workforce but in life in general, because it is the one thing that no one can take away from me. To receive this scholarship would give be a greater chance to be successful in my
I believe I should be selected for the Schulich Leader Scholarship because I have been academically successful, demonstrate leadership capabilities, and believe that my dreams and creativity will allow me to paint the future with bright colours, for myself and others. My experiences make me unique from anyone else, and I hope to do myself justice in six hundred words.
I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because I have great leadership and many other great characteristics. I helped raise awareness of obesity in our county to help in getting our percentage back down. I mentored younger children that came from low-wage families on why it was so important to eat right and get an adequate amount of activities, as well as rest each and every day. I did this by using the "GO, SLOW, WHOA" program to make it easier for kids to understand what foods are "go" foods which you can eat as much as you want, which foods are "slow" foods which are foods you should only eat every now and then, and which food is "whoa" foods which you should try to avoid this foods when ever possible. After we presented our presentation
I believe I should be awarded the Courage to Grow Scholarship because the meaning of school is much more to me than it may be for others. School has such a sympathetic meaning to me due to the fact my Father and I have an amazing relationship and anything to make him proud will become a goal of mine. When I was younger around the age of 5 I promised my father that I would go to college, even though at that age I barely knew what college was. If it wasn’t for the promise being made or me keeping it who knows where I would be today; it has brought me a long way and gave me the opportunity to push myself to be a better person.
I believe I should be awarded a senior secondary academic scholarship because as stated above, I fulfil all the necessary criteria and exceed the required attendance and academic standards for this scholarship. Because of this I feel that I am deserving of this scholarship.
The transition state between childhood and adulthood is difficult and sometimes frustrating. I find myself craving independence but not really grasping it. I have come far and overcome many challenges academically and personally, and I continue to face new ones every day but this must be one of the hardest yet. I like to think that I have everything figured out but the reality is that I do not. Nonetheless, I am relentlessly trying to put together the pieces of my life no matter how difficult it is to see the big picture, and luckily for me I was blessed with parents who instilled in me the value of hard work and perseverance.
I should be the recipient of this scholarship because I have worked hard throughout my high school career so that I could be accepted in to the college of my choice and pursue a career in nursing. Since I have been accepted to my chosen college, I am now trying to pay for my college education with the fewest amount of student loans possible. With the help of this scholarship I would be able to take some of the stress of paying for college off of my parents and I.
Altogether, I believe that I deserve the scholarship because I am a diligent worker who seeks to make a positive change in the world. With a fully-enriched education, I can make that
When I hear that term I picture a little seed that has dreams to be a tree, but it seems nature doesn’t have the same plans for it. I see that seed being scorched the sun and flooded by rain almost about to die, but then a nurturing hand will come along and plant it in a pot; not sure it will grow but hopes it will grow. That little seed had given up the hope to grow, but seeing the hope of the planter gave it “the courage to grow”.
I hesitated at first when debating whether or not I should apply to this scholarship; as a white person, I felt that it wouldn’t be right to apply to a scholarship for racial diversity. Nevertheless, I believe that I can help ease racial tensions and push our society towards the acceptance of equality.
