An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of feeding frequency on performance of grazing beef steers. Thirty-two head of crossbred beef steers were weaned and shipped from the Brown Loam Experiment Station in Raymond, MS to the White Sand Unit outside of Poplarville, MS. Cattle were weighed and re-vaccinated upon arrival, and then allowed a week for acclimation to individual feeding tubs. The steers were then stratified by body weight into three treatment groups of eight head. The treatment groups consisted of: control, no supplemental feed; weekly, supplemental feed fed once a week; and daily, supplemental feed fed daily. Initial body weight was recorded, after which, each treatment group was maintained across three pastures with ad libitum access to mineral. Feed and pasture samples were taken during the study to determine nutritive value. Treatment group 1X was fed once a week anywhere from 6-9 lbs. of feed depending on stratified body weight, and were allotted 45 minutes to one hour to finish. Mad cow disease, also known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), is a transmissible, slowly progressive, degenerative, and fatal disease which affects the central nervous system of adult cattle. Many researchers believe that an abnormal version of a protein normally found on cell surfaces, called a prion is the main reason to cause mad cow disease. For some still unknown reasons, this protein becomes modified and ruins the nervous system tissue, the brain and the spinal cord.

The Declaration included the explanation on why the Congress decided to declare independence from Britain. It talked about certain natural rights, also the rights to revolutions. It also listed the bad things committed on the colonies by King George the Third (Maier, 1997). The Congress approved the last draft of the Declaration on the July 4th, 1776, this date is known as America's National Day.

Cows who are on grass tend to not produce nearly as much but it is proven that the less milk a cow produces, the more vitamins in her milk. This is because a cow has a set amount of vitamins to transfer to her milk, and if she’s bred, fed, and injected to be a Super Producer, her milk has fewer vitamins per glass. As its name suggests, the Paleo Diet gets its inspiration through the Paleolithic era, when man survived like a hunter-gatherer. The diet, originated by Loren Cordain, health professor with the Colorado State University, is dependant on a radical distinct thought. Professor Cordain argues that considering that the human genome hasn't evolved over the last 50,000 years possibly even, there exists reason to imagine that this most natural diet for man is what his caveman ancestors ate. In other words, once and for all health one should survive on fish, meats and eggs from grass-fed and naturally raised livestock, vegetables, roots, fruits and berries, seeds and nuts.

The Cattle on Feed report is a survey that provides an estimate of the number of cattle being fed for the slaughter market that are expected to grade out at select or better, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The survey, conducted in the 16 largest cattle-feeding states, represents the numbers being produced by roughly 2,000 cattle feeders with more than 1,000 heads of cattle. The Cattle on Feed survey is conducted monthly and the report is issued on the third Friday of each month.

Individual’s diets are influenced by various circumstances which means everyone’s diet is unique to them. I live in student housing at IUSB so I provide my own food the majority of the time. I keep the apartment well stocked, so food is always available. I usually eat lunch on campus at the Grill or Sub Connection, where food is also in abundance. The food I eat on campus does not cost me anything since I use the money put on my crimson card by the school. I receive $300 dollars a semester on my card since I live in housing. I do not spend a large amount of money on the food that I buy myself to stock the apartment. It probably adds up to around $50 dollars a month. I provide my own meals most days. When I go home, my parents always make dinner.

Bill McKibben who is the author for the essay called The Only Way To Have a Cow claims that the way meat is made is an unclean practice that has many negatives. The biggest of them all is methane in the atmosphere. The release of methane can be of the past thanks to today’s methods and technology. Methane can be reduced by having the cows become free-range and grass fed but that would increase the price of meat. Other ways methane can be reduced in the atmosphere is by being stored and used for energy, and by altering cows diets.

Throughout the years, cattle have been an important to the daily life of many people. Some examples that are used from cattle are the red meat that is known as beef, their skin can also serve as a protector from harmful weather and also used in clothing, also the hobby of showing cattle is widely known in the Americas. So, how does the world keep the growing demand of cattle stable?
