When creating an orientation program or assessing the competencies of a nursing instructor and assuming the roles as an adjunct and full time faculty in a nursing program. In this paper the eight NLNCC will be described and a critique of myself will be done to see if I have reached each of the eight core competencies. Also if not reached what the plan is to work on the weakness and the action plan to overcome the identified weakness. I define my philosophy of nursing within the three nursing domains of person, health, and environment. My goal is to communicate the importance of nursing as a knowledge-based career, depending not only on the nurse fulfilling her role but also on the patient’s compliance. A patient must learn to provide self-care at home in the same capacity as the nurse would provide care in the clinical setting. I discuss various subjects within nursing. I explain why I want to be a nurse, what I believe a nurse’s role is, the different domains of nursing, and where I believe nursing will be in the future. I am a recent baccalaureate graduate of Charleston Southern University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May of 2015. On June 20, 2015, I received my NCLEX-RN results and became a registered nurse in the state of South Carolina. After considering my options for a graduate program, I happily accepted my offer from Case Western Reserve University and moved to Cleveland to pursue my graduate studies. Over the course of my undergraduate career, theories were included in the curriculum but not in depth. It is for this reason that I am excited to partake in this course – to learn the foundational and applicable theories of the nursing profession.
There are nine core competencies that the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) has adopted in which the nurse practitioner student’s education is based on: scientific foundation, leadership, quality, practice inquiry, technology and information literacy, policy, health delivery system, ethics, and independent practice competencies. This writer will describe and summarize the competencies as they relate to the nurse practitioners practice. After extensive research by this writer, she was able to conduct a thorough interview with a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP). Nursing students today are diverse with different learning styles. Nursing educators must shape students to become critical thinkers and there are a host of approaches for instructors to develop needed teaching skills (Kostovich et al., 2007). There are many models of education styles; one to fashion teaching after is from Kolb’s model in 1985 which suggests matching learning methods to teaching approaches. However, educators need to become proficient in identifying individual student learning styles. In my current role as a nurse educator I feel the desire to pursue my dream of obtaining a master’s degree, specializing in nursing education. It has been 27 years since I have sat in the student chair in a classroom; therefore, I anticipate a number of challenges and barriers to overcome. This self-reflective paper is focused on what I’ve learned about myself this semester regarding my strengths, and weaknesses. Concentrating on areas of my professional practice that need improvement and discussing two goals I have created for my self, and how I plan on achieving them. This semester I have discovered I have two key strengths those being a dedication to the practical nursing program, and seeking help in the program when I need it. The knowledge of and experience of and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) can be of value when examining core competencies. This paper will discuss the nine core competencies stated by The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF). To gain a more complete understanding of how the core competencies integrate into practice an interview of an APRN was conducted. Additionally, an analysis of selected NONPF core competencies will be discussed and how they apply to the roles of the APRN. The paper will end with a conclusion of key points and benefits from interviewing an APRN.

The three types of therapies I would use in their entirety as the basis of my eclectic model would be Aaron Beck’s cognitive therapy, Carl Rogers Person Centered Therapy and Eric Berne’s transactional analysis. I will use different aspects along with concepts from all therapies that are beneficial and enjoyable to each individual client I work with. Every piece that I will or have chosen to use as an up and coming child and youth care professional I enjoy, like, have seen the benefits of or feel that it fits my personality. As I complete my final 144 hours needed to earn my second baccalaureate degree, my practicum comes to an end. The purpose of this paper is to perform a self-assessment of how I have progressed throughout the 12-month accelerated nursing baccalaureate program. Areas of focus based upon my own strengths and weaknesses include: clinical skills, leadership and management skills, professional conduct and behavior, and professional communications. Overall, I believe that I have grown an immense amount as a person, while my nursing skills and knowledge have developed significantly since my first day in the accelerated nursing program through my last day of practicum.
During the first half of my Integrated Practicum, I was independent for the most time, applying my critical thinking, decision-making, communication, and research abilities, but I also asked for assistance or support from my Preceptor and CCD if difficult question raised. I followed the CHNC standards of building trusting relationship and demonstrated professional accountability, responsibility, and adaptability in approaching clients, groups, community partners, nurses, peers, and other professionals. Specialty areas in nursing are growing and each different area is another opportunity for nurses to grow and discover other parts of the nursing field. There are so many areas that it would be difficult to have each program integrate the specialty areas into the curriculum. Nurse educators are already trying to keep up with the ever changing health care system and teaching the most current information. Should the need then be on the organizations that serve and use nursing specialty care to provide the education needed for these areas practice? Nurse educators teaching within the program focus on core competencies and provide some information on the specialty areas available in the nursing field.
