It was a cold windy morning in London. Billy had just gotten off the train and was heading for a nearby coffee shop he saw in a newspaper ad. Suddenly a door opened and this crazy old man jumped out at him. “ Save yourself boy she’s the definition of the devil itself.” “What do you mean?” Billy asked, sounding concerned. “Just go, get away, as far as you can!” The old man yelled. Then at the last second before Billy turned around and started down the alley way he heard screaming. It sounded like an old woman. “Aaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhh” he heard it again. So he ran back down the alley to see an old lady lying on the ground holding her side. “Are you ok?” Billy muttered.” “Yes dear, but if it isn’t too much trouble would you help me inside?” and Billy being the kindhearted young man he is, helped the old woman in her house. Once they got inside Billy went to go out the doo… “BAM” the old lady had just slammed the door on Billy’s hand. “Oooouuuccchh” Billy screeched. “What was that for?” “Your not going anywhere” she exclaimed. Billy was terrified. Is this really what he deserved for helping an old lady? Billy had to find a way out and he needed to figure it out now. So without hesitation Billy ran upstairs in a room and locked the door behind him. The landlady chased after him, but she was too late, she was locked out. Her only chance to kill Billy and she failed. Or so she thought. ***** Billy kept dozing off, but he couldn’t
“There is no old house in that meadow dear, are you sure you are alright, maybe you should lay down I can receive the information later.”
At this moment Billy realized that she was only chopping beets, but he still wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. “Why don’t you stay a little while longer?” the landlady said smiling sweetly.
One main problem in the story is when Billy judges the lady and pushes away his own thoughts about her before getting to know her. For example, Billy says that the lady appears to be extremely nice. She offers him a place to stay for an extremely cheap price. Consequently, the
From the start Billy thought some things were a little odd. The first thing that was odd about her was when she immediately opened the door and little comments she made to him. Then he thought she was a little dotty, but he was getting a deal. Finally, he decided she was off her rocker, but he compensated for all the odd little things she did by reminding himself that she was a sweet old lady. Billy should’ve trusted his instincts when something seemed off, but because he doesn’t, he ends up in a situation where something awful will
The land lady tells Billy that she thought that both the men were very handsome. Billy was a little on edge when she stated this but what really pushed him over the edge was when the landlady says "there wasn't a blemish on their bodies". This utterance confused Billy, as it would anyone. Since it's an old lady telling a seventeen year old boy that she saw two boys(around Billy's age) naked bodies. Silence filled the room for a few minutes. Billy didn't know what to say after she said this. Billy should have felt uncomfortable after she pronounced this but instead of leaving he kept the conversation going by changing the subject. Why would Billy want to keep talking to her? Why didn't he leave right then and there? This event is the perfect reasoning to leave the room, even leave the bed and breakfast, but he didn't. Billy was dragoon by the lady again, into thinking that the lady in front of him was kindhearted, for he was very
“I think you are a liar. You want to kill me. You’ve killed every breathing specimen that has ever walked into the house. You have killed Gregory Temple, Chris Mulholland, animals, heck you have probably even killed the poor post man,” Billy says loudly. At this point Billy knew that he had to find a way to get out of here before she added him to her kill
Before Billy and Ruff left, Billy realized that it might take hours to walk to Wolf Hollow, so they walked to a gas station first. As they were walking to the gas station, a man pulled over to the side of the road and said.“Where are you two guys going this early in the morning?
Billy is exhibited as an honest young fellow who has just passed out of school, who appears to be uninformed of the evils of life out in this present world. He doesn't for one moment assume that there is anything vile about the lady. He is totally taken in by her cordial ways and is enchanted by her cheap and comfortable rooms. He does distinguish some peculiarity in her conduct, yet he merrily puts it down to her being 'somewhat dotty', and nothing else. Despite the fact that he considers the vanishing of the two visitors that stayed there before him - a vanishing that made the news - he regards it as a captivating puzzle instead of as a clue of danger. Youthful honesty, then, is another main theme of the book; The way how youthful, blameless trusting natures are exploited by more elderly, more naughty and evil minds. (Bingoffsky)
Mrs. Cade was waiting on the porch for Johnny. “Stupid hoodlum out late again.” She thought to herself. She took another drink from her whiskey bottle and stared at Johnny. “Where you been boy?” She asked drunkenly. I sighed at looked at her. “At the movies mother.” I mumbled twiddling with my fingers. Mrs. Cade grabbed a broom and hit him on top of the head with it. “Get in the house and straight to your room.”
Stephanie got up in her ladybug costume. As she opened the white picket fence it squeaked but she didn’t care. Once inside the yard she followed the sidewalk path and made sure that she didn’t go into the tall thick grass for which she didn’t know what was in it. George slowly up from behind the fence and ran to where she was. As soon as the reached the big front steps of the old Victorian house George said, “Step, I don’t think this is a good idea. Hold my hand.”
Billy took aim at a woman who was next in line blocking the Black Beast’s path down Anchor Street. She had a big, puffy 80’s hairdo, and her eyes were sunken in, but they still managed to look big, shimmering, and brilliant as she reached an out stretched arm for the pickup that was speeding at her. Her mouth opened showing them her green and blackening putrefied tongue.
He woke up beside his mother. “Oh Billy are you okay?” frightenedly asked Billy’s mother
While Mrs. White was in the house the dead Herbert their son arose and came like a zombie from the dead, he walked into the house. Mrs. White shouted, “Her-her-her-Herbert your alive, my son,” Mrs. Herbert ran to him and hugs him. Herbert then said, “Mom,” “Hungry, need food.” Herbert then grabbed on to Mrs. White and was going to bite her, and then Mr. White came in and kicks Herbert. Mrs. White shouted, “No, it’s my son Herbert.”
As soon as they got off the airplane, they started searching. They looked and looked, yet nothing was found.
A strange look began to pass through Billy’s face. His eyes glistened as he stared at her and whispered, “I was not seventeen. I was only 15 years old when you first met me. Got me to trust you and then took my life.”
