The Crimean war was a conflict that was caused by numerous factors. Russia had a desire to control the Ottoman Empire and inflict their power. The allies of the Ottoman Empire saw Russia actions, threats, and it caused them to start a war. Social events that caused the war were over religion, particularly over the protector ship of the Holy Places in Jerusalem. The dominant Muslim power was the Turkish Ottoman Empire, which ruled over millions of Christians. The Holy Land was part of the Ottoman Empire but also was the home of Judaism and Christianity. However, the Christian Church was divided into numerous small religious groups. The two major branches in Christianity were The Eastern Orthodox Church and Roman Catholic Church. Russia had
In 1915, the Battle of Ypres affected many Canadian soldiers during the First World War and many endured harsh environments. Using historical perspective allows one to understand and appreciate the sacrifice they made for their country. Men entered the army expecting a quick and exciting adventure, but were quickly shown the brutal truth. They were immediately thrown into the relentless environment that was filled with artillery, blood, and death and they would have to endure for the next five years. Trench warfare was brought up during this time where soldiers practically lived in mud and disease. There were rats and lice, diseases such as trench foot, and unbearable weather; every morning the troops would wake up in the unforgiving trenches

The Hundred Years' War was a series of wars between England and France that began in 1337 and ended in 1453.3 The war began when Edward III of England wrote a letter to Phillip IV of France, refusing to put the king of Scotland back on his throne and claiming he was the rightful heir to the French throne. This letter was written on October 7, 1337. The idea of England declaring war on France seemed insane. France was considered the richest and most powerful nation in Europe, whereas England was considered poor, small, and weak.2 Despite this fact, England won most of the major battles.
Religion had a large effect on violence that broke out within the two empires. Within Islam, two sects reigned supreme. The Sunni and the Shiite. The Sunni believe that Muhammad's bloodline is not the rightful heir to becoming a caliph. Sunni believe that the next Caliph should be voted upon by the Islamic people based on merit. The Shiite believe that Muhammad's bloodline should reign supreme and the Caliphates should only follow lineage. This diametrical opposition directed the Sunni and Shiite to despise one another. Because of these conflicting ideals, riots, attacks, murders, and bloodshed occurred between the two sects. This raging controversy has continued to modern day. Christianity in the Byzantine Empire had bloodshed and destruction

The American Civil War, fought between 1860 and 1865 was one of the bloodiest conflicts in the history of warfare. At the end of the war, more than 600,000 soldiers were dead or wounded. The institution of slavery was ended and the United States was changed forever. Several causes have been suggested for the conflict, including the disagreement over the institution of slavery, economic differences between the north and south and a difference in how the Constitution was to be interpreted. Slavery, however, is the key issue that lies at the heart of the conflict.
The first russians were Scandinavians and they were called Vargarians. Led by Rurik a great warrior they took control of Novgorod and began there, expanding over the years. This was around 860’s. Fast forward to year 989 the Rurik Dynasty was now under Yaroslav marking the peak of the Kievan Rus, who separated the land to his children and hoped that it would flourish and they would cooperate. They did not and split into regional power centers. The struggling dynasty was invaded by the mongols in 1237 by Batu Khan who over the years destroyed most of the major cities with an exception of Novgorod and Pskov. Mongols were known as Tartars. They established the empire of the Golden Horde. The Kahn of the Golden Horde became the overlord of the Russian Princes. With the Tatars
The religious and cultural differences within the Ottoman Empire caused most of the conflicts that occurred. Armenia made Christianity its official religion in 4th century A.D and it became part of the Ottoman Empire, a mainly Muslim region, in the 15th century. Similar to the majority
The Crusades were a series of wars between western Christians and Muslims for control of "The Holy Land" in the Middle Ages. The first crusades began in 1095 and lasted until about 1291. This time period meant so much to both the Christians and the Muslims, as The Holy Land had significant value to both groups. The most important parts/things about the crusades are, The Holy Land, the First Crusade, and the Crusader states/ the second Crusade.
The exact cause of World War I remains controversial and debated. The growth of nationalism and imperialism, along with political, territorial and economic conflicts were some majors factors in starting the war. The decline of the Ottoman Empire also contributed to the rising tension. Scholars wonder if the conflict could have been stopped or if it couldn't be brought under control at all.
Through 1853 to 1856 the Crimean War was a conflict that involved Russia going up against the alliance of France, Turkey, Sardinia, and Britain. Russia wanted to have control over the Ottoman Empire and that caused concerns of the countries. Russia also arose religious issues of religious sites in the Holy Land. The concerns of the countries led to the alliance and Russia fighting on the Crimean Peninsula and the Black Sea.
the Seljuk Turks were able to invade the Holy Land and take it away from Western Europe. Once Pope Urban II heard about what had happen to the Holy Land he was outraged. He immediately called out for an army to win back the holy lands for Christianity. About 4,000 people showed up to fight for the war. They were able to fight and take back the holy lands but were soon able to lose their lands due to the Turks fighting back. This soon turned into a win and lose fight due to both sides being unable to defend the holy lands from their enemy. The reason why this is extensive is because a majority of people would die in every battle because of the crusaders determination into getting the Holy Land back from the “Infidels” also known as the Turks.
The main focus of my event narrative, will be on “the Crimean War”, which was mainly fought on the Crimean Peninsula, but it was not always known as that, the Russians Called it the “Eastern War”. This war “was fought 1854-1856 by an alliance of Britain and France in support of their traditional ally, Ottoman Turkey, against Russia, seen as the tyrannical enemy”, (McDonald, 7). “The war arose from the conflict of great powers in the Middle East and was more directly caused by Russian demands to exercise protection over the Orthodox subjects of the Ottoman sultan”, (Crimean War). “Another major factor was the dispute between Russia and France over the privileges of the Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches in the holy places in Palestine”, (Crimean War). When it comes to the Crimean War, I hardly knew anything about it, I only know very little because my female archetype was a nurse during this war and her name is Florence Nightingale, who is the Mother of Nursing. She is called this because she founded modern nursing and to this day she is still talked about because if you ask any nurse, they should know of her. Nurse Nightingale went to the war to assist with soldiers because many of them were dying from either being sick or from battle wounds. Mainly what I would like to learn more about is why this war had
