During chapter 1 of, Basics of Research Methods for Criminal Justice & Criminology, I learned many things related to research. To be considered a good consumer of research, an individual should be knowledgeable about how the research was conducted and how the studies can relate to a person’s department. A good consumer of research in the CJ field would be when a person is able to take past research and understand how it directly relates to policing. An example of this would be if a police officer studied the book, Ethical Dilemmas and Decisions in Criminal Justice, to further their knowledge on ethics in policing. It is important to do this because then that police officer will be more knowledgeable in their field in an ethical standpoint
Yes, all of the time a search warrant will require probable cause. Our important constitutional right The Fourth Amendment means that police cannot arrest or make search without probable cause. For example, the police cannot just come into a residence unless the proper documentation is in hand such as a search warrant signed by a judge. Or if they are in
The court structure in Kansas consists of four levels and they are the municipal court, district court, the court of appeals and the supreme court. All four levels are important and play slightly different roles depending on the crime.
Contrary to popular belief the life of a criminal justice major is not all about being a hardboiled cop or a living a black and white noir film, there is actually quite a bit of disciplinary literacy in the background. People looking forward to a career in criminal justice should be able to write up investigation reports, reports to be used in trials, and documents relating to various types of criminal offenders.
A criminal justice degree is an academic program that studies criminal behaviors in relation to law enforcement, communities and the legal and court systems. Students learn about crime prevention methods and that agencies that promote safety and lawful behavior.
Denzel Washington plays veteran L.A.P.D. Det. Sgt. Alonzo Harris. For thirteen years this highly decorated cop has been on the front lines in the war against narcotics. He's pledged to protect and serve the citizens of Los Angeles, but his optimism about police work has long since been chipped away by the reality of life on the streets. He and the tight-knit group of officers that report to him have crossed the line between legality and corruption. They find themselves breaking the laws they're supposed to enforce. Alonzo's ethics and his logic are in complete opposition to the "book" which most cops must follow. "It takes a thief to catch a thief,"

Life course is defined as the different pathways through the age differentiated lifespan throughout the course of a person's life overtime. Moreover, the life course perspective draws that criminal behavior tends to follow a distinct pattern across the life cycle. This perspective is also known as life course criminology. Criminality is really uncommon in childhood but is usually during late adolescence and early adulthood, then usually diminished by the age of 30 or 40. Some people never commit crimes and others become career criminals.
In this paper, I will review what my initial thoughts on the criminal justice and how they have evolved after taking this class. When I first came into this class my original definition of justice was “everyone in society should be treated equally, fairly and with respect no matter what.” After going through this course and seeing different perspectives I feel that my definition has stayed the same. It covers a broad idea of how people should be treated but is specific enough for everyone to know what it could reference. I don’t believe an eye for an eye type of punishment is fair even though someone committed a crime like homicide it doesn’t give anyone the right to kill them for what they have done. This is why our country has a justice
This essay will talk about the lack of family structure can be one of the biggest causes of delinquency. It touches on four objectives on how lack of family structure can be a cause to a child’s delinquency.
The life course criminology, suggests that human development simultaneously takes place on numerous levels such as, psychological, biological, cultural, societal, familiar, interpersonal and ecological (Schmalleger, 2012). Criminal behavior "tends to follow a distinct pattern across the life cycle; also life course criminology" (Schmalleger, 2012 P. 192). It is believed that criminality is uncommon during childhood, but tends to manifest itself in the form of delinquency around adolescence and early adulthood. However, that it will diminish once a individual is around 30 or 40 years old. In other words a individual develops criminal behavior, by the causes of obstacles that were associated with the transition from childhood to adulthood. When

I want to study Criminology or Criminal Justice in college because I believe there are many individuals who enjoy causing others to suffer. Personally, I’ve witnessed great acts of brutality both in school and in my community. In addition, there is a general consensus that law enforcement does not help the community yet, I have observed that that law enforcement achieves great progress within the law by applying evidence and reasoning along with statements to discover the truth. To the masses, justice achieved through the law system is not enough as they want punishments to be more unforgiving. Finally, I feel that in order to have a sense of purpose in life I must be assisting others in ways most will
For this assignment I will be identifying Courts as the specific area of criminal justice. I chose this area because I think it plays a vital part into how our justice system works. Starting with a brief history of how and when the courts came into existence all the way through to where it is now. For a person reading this paper, it’s the assumption that you will get a better understanding of the Court system here in the United States.
My Criminology/Criminal Justice and Africana World Studies majors as have helped me conceptualize and identify several points that helped me understand the court laws and environment. The course of Law and Everyday Life, help me identify how the law affects our rights, social and political aspects and well-being of the society. The class introduces how we as citizens of the United States must have knowledge of our basic laws and how the United States court system rationalize their statues and logic according to their concepts of belief of the constitution.
