My previous course was critical thinking. The thought process from that class showed me how to deal with my day-to-day operation. I really had to be opened minded about several situations without just jumping to the conclusion. I am excited for the next course because of the conflict resolution in which I have to deal with daily. With the knowledge learned from the critical thinking class, I cannot wait to see how I apply it in the upcoming
Midterms had ended, everything comes back to normal. The past couple days not only my roommates and me had gone through a really busy study week. No matter what the result is, we had all tried our best to conquer them. Film as my major, requires my critical thinking skills while viewing the movies. However, in the last midterm it had made me reconsider my critical thinking skill for future.
Reflection on practice has different meanings, in my view it means constructive criticism: being honest with myself, becoming aware of and understanding my own strengths, and being able to review activities and constantly test assumptions related to our work. These have been my approach to critical reflection throughout the year. This is supported by Brookfield, he says that "Critically reflective teaching happens when we identify and scrutinise the assumptions that undergird how we work” (Brookfield, 1995, pg. 11-13). This is further supported by Ghaye, T & Ghaye, k (Ghaye, 1998); he argued that many teachers have benefited from learning through reflection. Their teaching and understanding of what is possible and less possible, impacts of activities on children’s learning and its boundaries have risen as a result of reflection.
The syllabus and our class conversations have highlighted some of the topics we will discuss in this class. Which topic/issue/theme do you think will be the most uncomfortable one (for you) to discuss? Why?
In today’s current school systems, the question of whether or not schools are correctly teaching students the right curriculum is coming up for debate. In the Article,"Teaching Critical Thinking by Marcia Clemmitt, she goes into extensive research of the U.S. Department of Education’s crisis of standardized testing. Most learning activities include standardized testing which lacks many students to express creative and critical thinking. Critical thinking is defined as the examination and evaluation of ideas, events and arguments in their contexts which introduces students to interrogate assumptions and identifying biases (Clemmitt)Pure critical thinking involves investigating a text more than just memorizing, but to apply theirself in other ways of techniques, meaning schools should stimulate more analytical methods of teaching. This would not only free students from a sheltered test culture, but will allow students to think in a deeper, more passionate way than before.
Week 5 what a journey through this critical thinking class. I have learned so much and how to apply the what I have learned to situations in my life whether it is personal or professional. The 5-step process I think for me was the best of all realizing that there is a method in problem solving. It will work even it the solution is not in your favor all the time. Ms. Sessmons I am happy that you made me dig deeper in my thought process to actual think about things before just writing them done. This also made me look at the way that I answer questions, cause me to be slow to speak listen to the entire situation then apply the correct concept before just giving an anwser. I would highly recommend this class to everybody it is

1. The first reason every student should be required to take general education courses is according to Washington state university learning goals general education courses promote critical thinking skills. Through assignments given in these classes, students develop the ability to problem solve and choose the right course of action to complete tasks (wsu undergrad education ucore, 2015). I think Ken Walzer from the University of Michigan sums it up best he says general education means to “begin to develop intellectual and moral imagination”(Waltzer, K. 2000). Looking back I can agree with this rationale I remember my first college assignment. I felt overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start. After reading the assignment several times, I then broke down the task into parts and then attempted to think through each section. Each course has helped me learn how to think outside the box.
As this session began, I welcomed Morgan in and asked her to summarize her problem in her own words. I did this because I wanted to hear what my client views her problem as. After summarizing her problem, Morgan informed me that she has stopped drug use but attributes this behavior to not wanting to do “anything, anymore.” I asked my client to elaborate on this lack of motivation but I should have focused on it a little more. After dropping the bombshell that she did not have any feelings at all anymore, I did not know what to say to my client. I tried to handle the situation to the best of my ability and ask Morgan about her existing problem of anxiety; but she kept saying she was numb. When asked to elaborate on this feeling of numbness,
An employee John Schmidt has suffered a serious work related injury. There is a lot of concerns on who is to blame for the accident. This report using the TGS Critical Thinking Rubric will serve as framework for thinking to get to the bottom of the issue at hand. The TGS framework will help us to be able to make a more effective, and ethical decision because the steps will enable us to consider all possibilities that led to the incident, and avoid any quick judgments. The framework also requires us to conduct checks and balances by checking all information against the relevant criteria and benchmark.
Critical thinking refers to the comprehensive analysis of a situation or concept to ensure that all the factors are considered to bring an issue to a conclusion. The idea of critical thinking is taught to almost the students in colleges and universities because of its importance to the contemporary living (Shiraev, 2015). In social science, the application of the critical thinking skills is paramount for god results. Additionally, to analyze theories and practices in psychology and philosophy, the concepts are important. In the process of thinking critically, many ideas should be considered for excellent results. Although the concepts are numerous, in this essay, we shall be concerned with only two which include philosophy and
Critical thinking is a significant and essential topic in recent education. The strategy of critical thinking skills helps identify areas in one's courses as the suitable place to highlight, expand and use some problems in exams that test students' critical thinking skills.
Vince Lombardi quoted “Perfection is not attainable, but if you chase perfection we can reach excellence”. In so many cases, we strive for excellence, whether it is in our personal life or professional. What does it take to maintain excellence within an organization where you do not have control over human error, and let’s face it; we are all human and make mistakes as much as we hate to admit it. On average it was estimated that $171.5 billion is spent on research and developing training models (Green & McGill, 2011). For organizations to be successful and maintain excellence it starts with having a solid plan of strategy, which includes a well thought out training program, quality assurance process, as well as a process to evaluate the success of the training program. These factors together will aid in achieving and maintaining excellence within an organization.
When defining the term “critical thinking” it can seem overwhelming and daunting, especially for young learners. In laments terms, you are teaching your student how to think for him or herself when it comes to problem solving. Instead of giving the student the answer, you give them the tools to discover the answer him/herself. Critical thinking is an important component of any classroom. No matter the age group, these skills stay with a child for the rest of his or her life. As a teacher, it is important to understand what critical thinking pertains to and how to structure part of your lesson plan around developing critical thinking skills.
