No matter what the decision of the woman is, her decision must be respected and her process of the abortion must be protected. In the end of the day it should not matter who is right and who is wrong, what matters is the woman is protected and have her own rights. Pro-life and pro-choice will never come to an agreement but we all are fighting for the same thing many people just don’t realize it yet.
Two feminist readings, “Abortion” by Jennifer Saul and “Racism, Birth Control, and Reproductive Rights” by Angela Davis, both cover the important feminist topics of abortion and reproductive rights, but in different ways. Though very alike, the pieces are different in important ways, as they both bring ideas to the table that work in tandem with each other, as I will discuss below. In this paper, I will cover the difference in how these authors approach the subject, how arguments from Saul’s writing strengthens those in Davis’, and how Davis’ essay highlights the importance of intersectionality in feminist discourse.
According to RRA, the state Statute violates the U.S. Constitution on five separate ground, as follows:
What a horrible feeling it is to walk around each and everyday knowing that out there, somewhere, a murderer in a white lab coat at Planned Parenthood is ripping a clump of cells, incapable of consent, from a woman's uterus that could be the perfect child for another family. Due to abortion rates being at an all time high, the number of adoptable children is at low. Some 1.06 million abortions take place each year. That is 1.06 million children that could be given to a deserving family, but I have thought of the perfect solution that will successfully decrease the number abortions: fetal auctions.
The topic of abortion is one of the most controversial and sensitive for the society and myself. The debates and confrontations between two opposite groups of opinion are long and sometimes even brutal. Both sides have strong supporting arguments: pro-lifers base on moral principals, which is life before birth, while pro-choicers defend political and social rights, such as right to privacy and right of choice. Neither side can be absolutely right or wrong; basically it is a matter of personal opinion. Mine is that although the abortion is originally wrong, in many cases it must be a legal option.
After considering the information presented in class, as well as my own philosophical beliefs, my argument is that abortion shouldn’t be a legal thing for woman to do in the U.S. Even though woman do it because they aren’t ready to have a kid, or were victims of abuse, or whatever the cause was, the action of aborting the kid is like murder. I want to argue about how abortion shouldn’t be considered legal.
Should a woman have the right to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy? Or is it considered foul murder? The legality of a woman having an abortion has been a highly controversial topic with many different views; a topic so controversial that it was one of the reasons Donald John Trump was elected into the presidency. This has been an ongoing debate that is dividing the American citizens apart for many people have certain views on it. I conducted a rhetorical analysis on four different articles with different views and reasonings on abortion using academic and non-academic sources stating their main points.
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. However many People agree to disagree on whether abortion is a legal or illegal matter. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy through removal of the embryo or fetus. I support abortion for the following reasons. Birth control failure, unable to support or care for a child, to prevent a child with birth defects or medical conditions, and a pregnancy in resulting from rape or incest. A woman should have the right to do what she pleases with her own body. For example, say a woman is pregnant with no desire of keeping the child and there was no clinic to help her remove the fetus. She’s most likely going to obtain matters into her own hands and figure a way to abort the fetus herself. Why put women in that situation when they have highly trained doctors who can remove the fetus using the proper tools with no harm done to the mother?
Whether a person would choose to obtain an abortion for themselves, does not provide them for the right to make a decision about what another individual would choose to do. Personally I am a Pro-choice supporter and support any woman who deems that an abortion is the right decision based on her individual circumstances. The ethical dilemma of abortion will not be disappearing anytime soon, because of the strong emotions of
Abortion is a debate that continues day in, day out, year in, year out. We have laws that have been set into place, yet the debate continues. The opposing sides in the debate each strongly believe they are right. The pro-choice supporters see a woman's right to choose as central to the debate. The pro-choice advocates see the life of the baby as the most important concern. Very little middle ground exists on the issue of abortion.
Many women that needed an abortion came to the program for help. Most of the women either did have money to afford an abortion or did not know any Doctor who was willing to do it for them. Jane gave hope for women who wanted an abortion.
Health care professionals have a significant role in the provision of abortion services. Health care professionals has an obligation to treat patients to the best of their ability and protect their privacy. Provisions of the Affordable Care Act states it is unlawful to discriminate against patients based on their sex, race, color, and other statuses such as medical history (Rehnstrom 2015). The ruling of Judge O’Connor blocks this provision of the Affordable Care Act. Which can have a detrimental effect on the health of the community. Allowing health care providers to refuse services to women who has previously had an abortion may create situation where patient will not truthfully disclose information about previous procedures and health issues which will affect the quality of care the patient receives. It will also reduce access to quality health care within the rural and low income community and may discourage individuals from seeking health care services.
There are many abortions performed all over the world. Most of them are from young teens, so then many states made new laws that requires a teenager to take their parents’ with them or at least have their permission before performing an abortion. It has be proven that this has help reduce the number of abortions per year. Many people think that the parents will help teenagers understand and make them change their mind before aborting. Most of teens that are “sexually active” don’t protect themselves, they don’t use any type of birth control such as pills or injections and this causes teens to end up getting pregnant and causes them to get an abortion. If maybe women would start protecting themselves there could be way less abortions performed each year all over the U.S. Think about it this way, it is so much easier to take a pill and prevent yourself from getting pregnant then deciding on killing an innocent child. If teenage girls feel that they are old enough to have sexual activity without using protection, they should also be mature enough to know what the consequences could be and make a good choice upon it. Someone that believes abortion isn’t wrong would agree on that women have the right of privacy which means you can do whatever you want with your body, but they would also agree on the fact that you are still killing a human being so many people could take that as a murder. “If abortion isn’t wrong, nothing is wrong” (Mother Theresa.) If abortion wasn’t a big deal,
Abortion has always been a very controversial and deeply contested issue in modern society. In the past few years, there has not been any new legislation or action taken regarding abortion, therefore, the issue was no longer in the spotlight. However, many people are anticipating another Supreme Court case coming from Texas regarding abortion and their most recent 2013 abortion law, House Bill 2. The case will be named Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole and is prompted by the numerous abortion clinic closures in Texas as a result of House Bill 2. The individuals that created the bill state the intention of the bill was to improve clinic quality and women's safety (Soffen, 2015, p. A3), however those against the bill believe the underlying motives for the legislation was to make abortion significantly more expensive and difficult to complete. For example, as a result of House Bill 2, “clinics must meet ambulatory surgical center standards and physicians have to have admitting privileges at a local hospital” (Soffen, 2015, p. A3). Many people view these standards as unnecessary “hoops” clinics must jump through in order to provide abortion services, ultimately decreasing the number of clinics eligible of providing abortion. Currently in Texas, women have to travel an average of 111 miles to
This will probably be my longest post, but the most meaningful and, I believe, it is worth reading....We are going to have Irish twins! Yes this is way earlier than we were expecting and yes people will judge us, but I just don't care. Yeah we may not have been ready, but at least we are taking responsibility for our actions. I'm not going out there getting abortions like so many! You make that choice, and you take that risk of getting pregnant when you decide to be unsafe, end of story.
Lately, the U.S. has been divided, republican vs. democratic, state vs. state, illegal immigrants vs. citizens and pro life vs. pro choice. The question of what is right and what is best for the people of America, but people will only talk about the issues in america without taking any action to help the problems. Especially, when it comes to abortion not only does it question America's motives, but also it’s morals.
