I became a part of the EOF because I like to study and work hard in the summer. This program is helpful because college is different than high school and in college I have to work harder and do all my best to pass the summer program with a good grade. This program will help us to do well in the fall semester and they support us with many things such as tutoring, academic skills workshops. The reason that I applied for the EOF is to get to know the college that I will go to and at the end of the program if I passed I will get college credits and that’s one of the things that I am looking forward to. The EOF is designed strengthen my preparation for college level and academic success.
Programs like the Educational and Training Voucher (ETV) Program for foster youth, which helps pay for post-secondary education and training. The John H. Chafee Foster Care Independent Living Program (CFCIP) (another name for FCIA), implements services which included educational instruction, work, and economic support. Additional federal programs, such as the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Medicaid, give states the leeway to use different resources to help children move out of the foster care system (nga.org, 2007). States would encourage the independence of these youth by giving assistance in achieving a high school diploma, higher education, work-force training, skills in budgeting, drug abuse and preventive health education

Being an immigrant in a country isn’t as compelling as many might think it is. After being oppressed by the cruel nature of greed hearted person consuming everything and everyone in its path. Many Mexican and other Latin American countries family are forced to leave their home. Due to a poor economy with lack of jobs or drugs and cartel, and thousands of people are fleeing their country in which their born to come to, the United Sate for a better day. Nevertheless, it is easier said than done, because entering United State is extremely long and tedious process which may take up to years and come here illegally has its toll on the long and dangerous journey. The welfare system has played a vital role in the United States in reducing poverty by providing a variety of programs that afford income support and create a safety net for poor individuals and families. In recent years, there have been enormous changes in the programs that have affected single mothers headed families. In 1996, Congress passed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA). Under the new legislation, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) replaced Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) which was the main public assistance program for single parents. TANF automatically terminated individual entitlement to public assistance, created a five-year limit for receiving cash assistance; and required recipients to work after two years (Kim, 2000).
This article describes the ridge work requirements in the TANF, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. This article examines the effects that the TANF work requirement program has on it recipients. This article also elaborates on different subsections such as the Background of TANF Work Participation Rate, Who Is Considered When Calculating the Participation Rate, How Many Hours Must a Family Participate in Order to Count and What Activities Count as Participation, Limitation of the Work Rate and Ways to Strengthen TANF work Provisions. According to Liz Schott and Ladonna Paretti (2013), “Under the work provisions of the law, states must require recipients to engage in work, impose sanctions (by reducing or terminating benefits) if
RunDSM is a program that has brought many people together through movement 515 that consist of workshops such as poetry, graffiti, and dancing. My introduction to this program was through a class called urban leadership. Throughout my high school career my involvement with RunDSM has expanded which lead to my love for poetry. I was just amazed by how unique combination of words could be so impactful. As I proceed to learn different poetic technique my writing and performance has enhance. Taking my poetry from the note pads to the stages I was able to present work and obtain a leadership role within the community. I believe that poetry is a gateway away from reality, a way of expression, and a tool for overcoming any obstacles that you face

The youth and teens across the world are thriving in the benefits of multiple options of outreach programs. Theses outreach programs are set to encourage the children to build the highest morale, character, and healthy development of today’s youths. It is great that there are several outreach programs but some of our nationally funded programs are absorbing a large amount of our resources (time and money) without achieving results or being as successful verses the cost of the program. The D.A.R.E program is a great example when it comes to the shortcomings of the cost verses the outcome comparison. I would like to see the millions of dollars that is spent to up keep and maintain the D.A.R.E. program be used to fund and extend the services of

While responding to what would be reflected as a police code “Code 3” call, which is an emergency demanding excess speed, use of lights and sirens. Now the first thing I would do as a responding officer is to keep my emotions under control because if I fail to do so then it could result in a horrific shooting, the use of unnecessary force in arresting suspecting, or even sloppy analytical work at the crime scene.
