The concept to play games on Thanksgiving Day dates back to 1876 with the idea that most people have the day off from work. The tradition for Dallas Cowboys fans since 1966 has been turkey, company, and football. The icing on the cake for these games is a Cowboys win. Dallas is the one of the two teams to consecutively host these games.
With this tradition, I thought it was only fitting to discuss three memorable Thanksgiving Day games with the Dallas Cowboys win. Two of the top three games were impressively won by the Dallas Cowboys backup quarterbacks, this helped these plays make the list.
Number Three: 2006-- Cowboys 38, Buccaneers 10 This game out of the three is a little different because they did not come from behind, but they won

Number Two: 1974-- Cowboys 24, Redskins 23 The game is known as the “Clint Longley Game” when he came in as back-up quarterback when Roger Staubach was injured by the Redskins early in the game. With the Dallas Cowboys trailing 23-17 with little time left in the 4th quarter, Longley found an open Pearson for a 50 yard touchdown pass; therefore Dallas won 24-23. This dramatic win with the odds stacked against the Cowboys has yet been beaten as the greatest moment in the Thanksgiving day series.
Number One: 1994-- Cowboys 42, Packers 31 Tables are turned in this Thanksgiving Day game with Jason Garret behind center and not under the headphones and plays. This game today is known as the “Jason Garrett Game” because this was not only a great Thanksgiving Day game, but a memorable game in the franchise history. With injuries to starting quarterback Troy Aikman and backup quarterback Rodney Peete, entered third-string Garrett. At the half the Packers led 17-6 and there did not seem to be much hope for Dallas; however things quickly changed in the second-half when the Cowboys scored 36 points in the final two quarters. Garret connected with Alvin Harper for a 45 yard touchdown followed by a 36 yard touchdown to Michael Irvin and a 63 yarder to Emmitt
In the recent decade, the Dallas Cowboys have bounced back and forth between locations for their annual training camp. In 2001, the Cowboys held part of their training camp at the River Ridge Sports Complex in Oxnard, CA while also training in Wichita Falls.
To begin the game, the Eagles received the ball first and it was a perfect opening drive for Wentz and the offense. On the first drive, Wentz went 4-for-5, finding tight end Zach Ertz for a ridiculous one-handed 14-yard catch on first down and ending it with a 19-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jordan Matthews.
The first play was a run, which again, like in the first half, Denver shut down. However, the next play Cam Newton hit Ted Ginn for 45 yards. Ginn began to be Newton’s go to player. However, While the pass started to work for Carolina, it was not enough to get them a touchdown and the Panthers attempted a 44 yard field goal. However Graham Gano, the Panthers’
The Dallas Cowboys have the 2 most valuable stadium in nfl. The Cowboys mascot is rowdy the cowboy and their coach is Jason Garrett. Cowboys were super bowl champs 1971, 1977,1992, 1993, 1995, .The Cowboys won 2 super bowls in a roll.
Grier complete a 60-yard pass to Ricky Rogers and Pettaway took it to the end zone with a three-yard carry, cutting the defense's lead to 28-14.
This season has been anything but what the fans of the Dallas Cowboys had hoped for. Not necessarily even hoped for, but expected would be the more accurate word I think. The Cowboys AND their fans came into the 2015 season thinking "this is our year" (Yea, I know what you all are thinking. "Cowboys fans ALWAYS think that every year is their year") However, this one was different. Quarterback, Tony Romo was coming off his best season of his career, and the team did the complete unexpected by going 12-4, and their season only ending due to a very controversial call against the Packers in the NFC divisional round of the playoffs. So why
It went for ten yards.Rodgers completed the first pass he threw in the NFL, it went for zero yards and was his only pass of the game in mop up duty of a 51-3 win over the New Orleans Saints in 2005.Through the 2010 season, Greg Jenning has caught more touchdown passes thrown by Aaron Rodgers than anyone else in the league with 25. Donald Driver was in second place with 15. The first rushing attempt of his NFL career came in 2005 and went for eight yards in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The first rushing touchdown he would ever get came in week one of the 2008 season when his one yard quarterback sneak across the goal line would extend the Packers lead in their eventual 24-19 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The first three rushing touchdowns of Aaron Rodgers career all went for one yard. His first 300 yard game came in week two of the 2008 season. The Packers would win in Detroit 48-25 and Rodgers would go 24 of 38 for 328 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.Aaron Rodgers would end up with a quarterback rating of over 121.0 in each of his first three playoff games. His first touchdown pass would go to Greg Jennings in 2007, his first TD pass as a starter would come in 2008 in week one and would be a one yarder to Corey Hall. In 2009, Jennings also caught Aaron Rodgers’ first playoff touchdown
There was this great quarterback, Paul D. Hubbard, and he was blind. He created the huddle to confuse the opponent teams into misinterpreting is sign language signals during the game.
Things got start with a bang, when Dawson Martin took off for a sixteen-yard run, showing speed and nice field vision. Martin would close out the drive on a 2-yard run to make this a,6-0 game. A two point conversion run by,Elijah Malcolm made the score,8-0, with 9:05 left in the quarter.
Who declared these guys were America's team, certainly not me. So growing up I wanted them to lose every game, and loved it when they did. I detest the Cowboys, Duke hoops, ND football, Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Yankees. At some point I will blog each one of them and rip them to shreds, but back to Dallas.
It was so close we could almost taste it. The undefeated season, the holy grail of the NFL, seemed to be a sure thing. Here the Patriots were in Super Bowl 42. They had the chance to achieve a 19-0 season. Something no team had ever done before. I stood in my living room. Surrounded by friends and family watching the ongoing battle. I could feel the joy radiating from those around me. Victory was near. The Giants stood in their territory just a few downs from their ultimate demise. The Patriots defense had been stout the entire game, and so surely they would be able to hold the Giants now, when they needed to the most. Eli Manning took the snap, and the Patriots defense pounced. They had him by the jersey, all they needed was to finish the
Jameis Winston completed nineteen passes after 29 attempts throwing for 246 yards, no interceptions, and five touchdowns. The five touchdowns he threw in the game, ties a rookie record. Winston threw touchdown passes to five different receivers.
The Vikings had the ball with 1:42 left and at their 39-yard line and helped with a pass interference penalty on Kam Chancellor, went into the Seahawks area. After eating up the clock for a certain win, Walsh missed the winning point
Well as you know the first game of the regular season starts on Sunday night against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football at 7:30 CT at AT&T Stadium. The anticipation for first game of the season for fans is built with excitement, you can’t sleep much through the night because you’re anxious waiting for Sunday so you can see your team play. I can tell you this I’m so ready for Sunday to come I eat, sleep, breathe Cowboys 24 hours, seven days a week, and 365 days out of the year. Boykin only needed 1:07 and four passes to drive the Seahawks 88 yards in route to the game ending drive, all but wrapping up the second string position behind Russell Wilson. Boykin re-entered the game during the fourth quarter and had earlier put together a drive that led to a field goal for Seattle.
