The Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice Equality Movement took arms against the Sudanese government, which was later named “The War in Darfur”. Which sparked the anger of the government and sent their military to begin murdering many villages, that were non Arabs. In many accounts reported about 2 million were killed over 2 decades.Scarce resources played a huge role in the mass killings of Sudanese (non arab).

Not everybody believes in genocides, other may have a different opinion or thoughts. Sometimes people don’t realize its genocide because they believe in what they are doing and they think there is no harm done because it’s not affecting them.      The world organization that concerns itself with issues parallel to genocide is the Commission on Human Rights. It is the commission’s duty to meet once a genocidal act occurred and was reported. Then the commission must develop different ways to mend the problem at task in a fair and just way. By doing so, the commission helps to fix this human right’s issue with the seven treaties.

The Darfur Genocide is the current mass slaughter and rape of civilians from South Sudan killing women and children in Sudan. The Genocide began in 2003 but the outbreak around the world in early 2004 and still continues today which is known as the first genocide in the 21 Century. With over eight hundred thousand to one million deaths, the Rwandan genocide is undoubtedly one of the most sad and shocking examples of the lack of intervention by not only the US and the UN, but by other countries as well. The ongoing tensions between the Hutu, the largest population in Rwanda, and the Tutsi, the smaller and more elite population is what eventually lead to the Rwandan genocide. The killings began quickly after President Habyarimana 's plane was shot down. After hundreds of thousands of deaths, the US did not intervene in Rwanda because being a landlocked country with no natural resources to benefit the US, there was no economical benefit, and the risk of sending in troops simply outweighed the rewards. Genocide is definitely a huge problem that has troubled the world in the past, and still continues to do so. The United Nations must intervene in genocide because it is their job. If they are not going to try and solve problems, then the supranational organization can be disbanded, and World War III will be the result. According to the Office of the Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, the United Nations has a few roles when it comes to genocide. First of all, they are supposed to raise awareness of genocide, by teaching States and their governments to institute prevention mechanisms, and how to handle ethnic diversity so that the different ethnic groups can coexist peacefully. Secondly, they are supposed to collect information on serious violations of human rights and humanitarian laws, that if not stopped may lead to genocide. They, in a timely matter, must also report situations of concern to the Security Council. Lastly, they are required to mobilize the United Nations’ system and other key partners to conduct missions to countries where intervention is needed. As previous genocides have shown us, the United Nations do not perform these acts to the extent that they are required to do so. The slaughter of innocent men, women, and children continue daily, and will happen until the world and its people grow tired of the unnecessary loss of life and work to aid those in need. Darfurians are a prime example of what can happen when ones lives are not valued because of the difference in beliefs.

The Darfur Genocide is considered one of the most gruesome and gory genocides to take place in recent years. Darfur is a western civilization roughly the size of Spain located in the country of Sudan which is situated in Africa. Sudan has had a rough history over the past fifty years. In the past, there was the Holocaust, where Hitler exterminated over six million Jews based on his anti-semitic views. Elie Wiesel, a Jewish author, has become a very influential man in educating the world of the true events of the Holocaust due to his involvement in the disaster.
