During 1816 Congress chartered The Second Bank of the United States. Two year later in 1818, the state of Maryland passed legislation to impose taxes on the bank. The cashier of the Baltimore branch of the bank, James W. McCulloch, refused to pay the tax. An unanimous decision, the Court held that Congress had the power to incorporate the bank and that Maryland could not tax instruments of the national government employed in the execution of constitutional powers. As it was shown when Jesus healed two blind men and a servant, having faith results in action. In Matthew, two blind men called out to Jesus, and the crowd told them to be quiet (Doc. 1). This caused them to shout even louder, so Jesus walked over to them and asks what they want. The men said that they were blind and wanted their sight back. Matthew 20: 31 says, “Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him” (Doc. 1). Basically, all it took was one touch from Jesus, and they could see. These men proved their faith by not giving up when they were rebuked by the crowd and believing that Jesus could and would heal them. Because of this faith, Jesus took action and gave them sight.

This catastrophic event within the United States had many circumstances leading up to it that are monumental in of themselves. Effects of this crash left many people homeless, jobless, and most importantly, hopeless of ever recovering from such a devastating time. Just receiving a job interview was nearly impossible and getting food on the table was becoming harder and harder to many Americans.
