In recent news, there has been a string of attacks all over the world; each attack has been related to terrorism. A passenger boarded a train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris, armed with a box cutter, a pistol and an AK-47 with intent to harm innocent people. Four passengers on the train quickly subdued the terrorist before anyone could be harmed. In November, Paris, France was struck with terror when three armed men set off a string of attacks throughout the city, to include a bomb and active shootings. This attack left nearly 127 people killed and wounded. Most recently, in San Bernadino, California a man and woman left from a holiday party and returned with assault rifles. The biggest impact mass shootings and suicides are on the victims. This can range from physical assault to emotional distress. In the cases of mass shootings, the victims can be identified as the people that were either shot or indirectly harmed through the shooting. In columbine, there were 13 total deaths consisting of 12 students and one teacher. In addition to the deaths, 24 others were wounded with a range of injuries (Library, 2017). Some victims endured a few cuts and bruises from the chaos and others became paralyzed from the gun-shot wounds and are now living life with limitations. One victim was shot three times, two in the back and one in the arm. She suffered nerve damage from the shots in the back and an excruciating painful recovery from the bullet in the arm (Library, 2017). Unfortunately, she was unable to recover nerve damage which paralyzed her from waist down. Another victim was shot twice in the head and suffered traumatic brain injury as he tried to escape out the school window (Library, 2017). These stories were only two of the 24 victims from one incident. Similar stories exist from other mass shootings that display the tragic effects in has on the victims.

Mass shootings have become one of the most fearful events that could happen in elementary schools, high schools, and College campuses. These violent actions committed by a number of individuals have happened for many years and will continue happening unless prevented. Individuals like James Holmes opened fire in a Colorado movie theater, killing twelve individuals and injuring twenty, John Sawahri shot five students dead in Santa Monica College also injuring four individuals. However Eric Harris and Dylan Kleibold executed the most horrific act of school violence in United States History. These two individuals managed to take the lives of twelve students, a teacher and managed to take their own life in the process. This act of crime has spread through America, leaving no one safe.

In october 1, 2017, in las vegas, Police recovered 23 deadly guns from the evil Stephen Paddock's hotel room at the Mandalay Bay. Some of the weapons had been modified. Several of the rifles had scopes on them.Paddock shot into a huge crowd for 10 to 15 minutes, killing at least 59 innocent people. Another 19 dangerous guns were recovered from evil Paddock's home in Mesquite, Nevada, Clark County Assistant Sheriff Todd Fasulo said. He also had thousands of rounds of ammo and dangerous explosives.

“Since at least 1950, all but two public mass shootings in America have taken place where general citizens are banned from carrying guns.” Now, envision being in a mall and you hear a horrible scream immediately after you hear a massive CRACK! The United States has had over 350 mass shootings in 2015 alone. There is no specific criteria for mass shootings besides that there are multiple victims and it seems to be at random. There have been a number of mass shootings that have made the news worldwide like; the mass shooting at a black church in S.C and the mass shooting in Texas that left over 20 individuals dead or injured. There are several reasons why a mass shooting may occur. The most recent mass shooting happened this month in California and it happened at a home for the mentally ill. On December 2, 2015 Syed Rizwan Farook and wife Tashfeen Malik opened fire on at a holiday party in the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino. Fourteen died and 21 were

people and the cops can’t trace the gun back to the suspect. There has been 133 mass shootings in the U.S. between January 2005 to July 2009. The mass shooting in Las Vegas killed 58 people and injured 500 others. A church shooting in Texas killed 20 people. In order for it to be a mass shooting it has to kill more than 3 or 4 people. 3 out of 4 mass shootings in the U.S. came from kids under the age of 19. On Jan. 17, 1989 a man killed 5 children and wounding 30 other students and teachers before killing himself. Shooters in some of the deadliest mass shootings in the U.S. history carried models of the country’s most popular types of weapons.

In the United States, we are experiencing more mass shootings in schools with many kids and adults dying because of ineffective laws and lawmakers stating that “guns protect peoples”, because of this we should protect ourselves with more gun regulations then deadly guns .One of these problem with self defence is that people who arm themselves could accidentally kill a loved one by either not knowing how to fire a gun or mistaken the person for a intruder. Another problem is of having guns around homes, where it can a initiated a conflict between peoples and either factions could say that they were using it for self defense. In contrast, if we have gun control laws there will be fewer mass shootings/deaths and it will make the U.S.

Four hours later the San Bernardino County Sheriffs located Farook and Malik near there townhome in Redlands, a shoot up ensued in the middle of the suburban neighborhood. Farook and Malik were both killed. The San Bernardino Attack could have been prevented if the federal government did more in-depth background checks on people moving to the country from areas of the world where terrorism runs rampant and the terrorist main objective is to kill Americans. The government also need to investigate why Americans with a Middle East ethnicity are traveling back and forth multiple times to those areas of the world. If

Between 1998 to 2001 there have been 10 school shootings involving 43 deaths and 60 wounded teachers and students (Hawley, 1). Based off of the Council of State Governments there were 33 states presented with bills related to arming teachers and staff but only Alabama, Kansas, Tennessee, South Dakota, and Texas passed laws (Murphy). These bills were presented after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. In the States of Utah and Rhode Island any adult with a concealed weapon permit can carry a firearm on school grounds.

A shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Southern Florida, killed seventeen people and fourteen people were injured.

On December 2, 2015 80 employees of the San Bernardino county health department were attending a holiday event. The event was taking place in the convention building at the Inland Regional Center. At around 11 a.m. two shooters with semiautomatic rifles and pistols walked in and opened fire. Fourteen were killed and 21 wounded.

On October 4, President Donald Trump avoided the topic of gun control while visited Las Vegas. In there, Trump met people, first responders and survivors of mass shooting.

Since 1982 there has been at least 85 mass shootings in the US, since the year 2006 there has been 48 alone. The first mass shooting was on September 5th, 1949 in a neighborhood and the killer was Howard Unruh killing 13 people including 3 children. In the recent mass shootings there has been the Pulse nightclub in Orlando Florida on June 12, 2016 and the shooting in Las Vegas that happened last week. Between these two mass shootings they are ranked the most deadliest mass shootings in US history, with Orlando killing 49 and wounding 58 and Las Vegas killing 58 and wounding 489.
