In the Shakespeare Play Romeo and Juliet there’s somebody to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence, Romeo, and Juliet equally showed a responsibility for the deaths. Friar Lawrence played the biggest part of why Romeo and Juliet died. When Juliet was complaining about killing herself he stopped her from doing so, Friar Lawrence explained that there's a potion that would put her to sleep and would help her get out of marrying Paris. In the Shakespeare’s he stated that “When you’re in bed, take this vial, mix its contents with liquor, and drink. Then a cold, sleep-inducing drug will run through your veins, and your pulse will stop. Your flesh will be cold, and you’ll stop breathing. The red in your lips and your cheeks will …show more content…
Once Romeo got the news that Juliet was ‘dead’ he was devastated and went to get apothecary poisonous potion to kill himself instantly, instead of waiting for Friar Lawrence to get there. In the Play Shakespeare stated that “Come, bitter poison, come, unsavory guide! You desperate pilot, let’s crash this sea-weary ship into the rocks! Here’s to my love! ROMEO drinks the poison. Oh, that pharmacist was honest! His drugs work quickly. So I die with a kiss.” (Act 5, Scene 2, Line 120-125) . Romeo drinks the potion and It immediately kills him. Romeo drinks it because he thinks that Juliet is dead but she’s just faking it. He kills himself just before she wakes up from her ‘death’. Romeo thinks that drinking this potion will increase his love for Juliet, but it does nothing for him but make him die for a girl he barely even …show more content…
She played a huge part of it because she went a lot with drinking the potion & stabbing herself once she found out Romeo was dead. Juliet is held accountable for her actions, she was the cause of why their both deceased. In the play its stated that “Oh, noise? Then I’ll be quick. Oh, good, a knife! My body will be your sheath. Rust inside my body and let me die. (she stabs herself with ROMEO’s dagger and dies)” (Act 5, Scene 3, Line 180-185). Juliet doesn't see Romeo and wonders where he is. Juliet ends up seeing that he's dead, even though he’s dead she kisses him to see if the apothecary would kill her too. Juliet ends up hearing the police coming and she took Romeo’s dagger and stabbed herself so she could die and be with Romeo. Juliet only has herself to blame, she didn’t have to go along with Friar Lawrence drinking that potion or stabbing herself just so she could be with a man she barely even
Juliet is partially responsible for the death of romeo because when he heard she was dead, he killed himself. This is only because Juliet hadn't told him that she wasn't actually dead. Romeo is partially responsible for Juliet's death because he killed himself and when Juliet saw that he was dead, she decided to killed herself.
Friar Lawrence is the reason why Romeo and Juliet died. “Take thou this vial, being in bed and this distilled liquor drink thou off.” This quote shows that Friar Lawrence gives Juliet the potion to kill herself. Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the potion to kill herself. When Romeo saw Juliet faking her death he assumed that she was dead so he killed himself.
Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths because he’s the one that came up with the plan to make Juliet appear dead. Romeo was supposed to be with her but it didn’t work out all that well. Friar Lawence gives her the potion and in Act Four, scene 1, lines 98-99 Friar Lawrence says “ No warmth, no breath, shall
Friar Lawrence plays a big part in causing the death of Romeo and Juliet because he secretly marries them knowing something either negative or positive will happen. Friar even tells Romeo the cautions for he says 'Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast.' (Act II Scene III 97) Friar marries them because he thinks that the marriage is going to end the feud between the families of Romeo and Juliet. He knows that even though Romeo and Juliet are in love they will never be able to see each other. Not in a grave to lay one in, another out to have” (Act II scene III 85) Also, if Friar Lawrence did not give Juliet the potion that she was going to use to deceive her family into thinking she was dead to get out of her marriage to Paris and make Romeo aware of what was going to happen, their deaths would not have occurred. Romeo goes to the tomb thinking Juliet is really dead after Balthasar accidently informed him of Juliet’s apparent death not knowing of her plan. If he had stayed there longer without taking the poison he had obtained from Apothecary they both would not have killed themselves. He brought the poison to the tomb to end his own life next to Juliet after seeing for himself if she was really dead. Romeo did not want to live without Juliet.
Friar Lawrence is a valuable person in the book Romeo and Juliet. He offers advice and helps tries to help Juliet find a way out of marriage. He is a wise and sympathetic man. He is always looking out for people in need. When Romeo comes to Friar Lawrence because Romeo thinks he is in love with Juliet. Friar Lawrence takes his opinion into consideration, and tries to help him out, at the best of his abilities. Some critics argue whether or not it it was his fault for their death. It was truly his fault. Friar Lawrence is guilty for the death of Romeo and Juliet is because he gave Juliet the potion, he knew how Romeo would react the way he did, and he had left Juliet by herself when she found out Romeo was dead.
The potion was able to have Juliet fake her death for forty-two hours and place her into a catatonic state. Juliet took this potion so she could get away with not having to marry Paris. According to act 4 scene 4 and 5, the nurse was the one to find Juliet deceased in her bed and is the one to tell Juliet's parents. When Romeo caught the wind with this tragedy he discovered that he couldn’t live his life without Juliet so he ended up killing himself. Friar Lawrence was to blame for this because the potion wasn’t necessary, Juliet could have stuck up for herself and decide that she didn’t want to marry Paris now. This is the second reason why Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and
Friar Lawrence was to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death. The first reason that he was to blame is the fact that he give a 13 year old girl, who is unstable anyway, a poison to put her to sleep. In the book Friar says “When you are in bed, take his vile, a sleep induced drug will run through your veins, and your pulse will stop.” (lines 98-100) He is entrusting a 13 year old girl with a poison that can put her to sleep or worse. Also in the book Friar Lawrence says “Your body will be stiff and cold as a corpse.” (lines 282-284) He is explaining what this poison he is giving her is capable of. Friar lawrence also says “You will continue in this state for 42 hours then will awake s from a pleasant sleep.” (lines 108-110) This
Friar Lawrence is most likely the biggest to blame for these lovers’ deaths due to the fact that he has given the poison to Juliet which causes Romeo's death and then Juliet's. Friar Lawrence comes up with what seems like a phenomenal plan; fake a death, escape the city, and live happily ever after! Sadly, Friar Lawrence is making a fatal mistake; instead of simply telling Romeo of his and Juliet's plan, he plans on sending a letter through Friar John. To his surprise the letter does not go through! "After I found him, the healthy officers,/suspecting we were in a house infected by the plague,/boarded up the doors, and wouldn't let us out. So I couldn't go/ to Mantua"(5.2.6-9). As Friar John explains, he was suspected of having the plague and was not able to deliver the letter to Romeo. Although the letter seems like a liable idea, it is not nearly as reliable as simply informing Romeo of the actual situation. By simply speaking face to face with Romeo, Romeo will know the situation of Juliet and the poison and will not kill himself. Therefore, by giving Juliet poison and not informing Romeo, Friar Lawrence is to blame for Romeo and Juliet's
Friar Lawrence the one that was most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, the nurse played a big role in the actions that lead up to the tragedy that was the death of two young star crossed lovers. The nurse was looking out for Juliet and doing what she felt was best.Even though Friar Lawrence helped the two star crossed lovers get away with a lot of their plans involving their love, his intentions were good and honest. Romeo and Juliet's death was also their own fault they knew what they were doing and what the consequences could be. but there love blinded them and the only thing that mattered to them was that they were together. So many other characters and factors had a role in the death of Romeo and Juliet. The Friar's plan
Friar Lawrence was the most responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet in several ways. He was just out of his mind. He made not only one mistakes, but many mistakes that all caused Romeo and Juliet's death. First of all, he made one major mistake that he could have prevent. He trusted a teenage girl, Juliet. Teenagers aren’t stabilize, and the most scaring thing is that most of them don’t think of the consequences of love. Friar gave her fake-death poison. This is crazy! This decision was a very poor choice on the Friar's behalf. Here, he shows his irresponsibility by saying, "If... thou hast the strength of will
In the play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare the people who are to blame for the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet, are Friar Lawrence and the Nurse. Friar lawrence and the Nurse made six preventable mistakes that lead up to the terrible tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.
Usually, elaborate and complicated plans do not turn out the way that they are supposed to, especially in this scenario. Later in the play, Romeo is banished from Verona for killing Tybalt. Friar Lawrence tries to help the young lovers using a potion, “ a thing like death to chide away this shame, that cop’st with death himself to ‘scape from it...And if thou dearest, I’ll give thee remedy.” (183). This potion would make Juliet appear dead for 42 hours, and then she would arise. Giving an almost deadly potion to a 14-year old does not seem like a responsible measure to take. Friar thinks that when Paris sees Juliet dead, he will stop pursuing Juliet for once and Juliet will stay loyal to Romeo. Friar sends a “letter was not nice but full of charge of dear import, and neglecting it may do much danger.” (219). This letter includes the potion plot and what Friar’s intentions were. Unfortunately, Romeo never receives this letter and never gets to know that Juliet will stay loyal to Romeo,
Juliet planned to fake her own death in order to live happily with Romeo. Before Juliet takes her poison she reminds herself about Romeo and she is doing this for Romeo and Juliet decided to fake her death just for Romeo. Juliet’s decision is what make her drink the poison to follow the plan from Friar. Which she did not have to. It was her free will and her choice.
To prevent Juliet’s suicide, the Friar comes up with a plan. He says to Juliet, “take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilling liquor drink thou off.”(IV.i.95-96) Friar Lawrence wants Juliet to fake her own death and lie in the tomb of Capulet, to get out of marrying Paris. However, this plan backfires when Romeo does not receive the letter that the Friar had sent him and he kills himself over Juliet’s ‘death’, and Juliet in response kills herself over his death. The Friar’s exertion contributes to the plot, because the tragedy at the end of the play would not have occurred without his actions.
She supported that Romeo and Juliet should marry. She was the messenger for them to communicate (2.4, 130-End of Scene). She arranged a lot of it and made sure Juliet was at Friar Lawrence’s place on time and in secret. She followed through with Romeo and Juliet’s plans which meant she could be trusted. Until, Romeo was banished from slaying Tybalt. Capulet all of a sudden makes the decision to bring the marriage forwards so that there could be a happy time to replace the sad. The problem with this though was that Juliet was already married to Romeo. What the nurse says to Juliet is very shocking to
