During the conference, I was interested in the presentation by Zita Dove and Dean MacMullin about working at the Defense Construction Canada (DCC). Zita Dove was explaining the company that they work for and how they have 33 work sites with almost 1000 people working at those sites. The DCC is a construction company who works for the Department of National Defense (DND). The DND contracts the DCC to do their construction. Since the DCC works for the DND they are working in a security zone. The construction sites are within the military grounds. With the construction being on military rounds the workers need to have the specific security clearance needed to enter the grounds they are working on. This leads to where there is a need for a database.
At the height of the war in 2007, there were about 190,000 armed and unarmed contractors compared to 160,000 US troops. During the war, these contractors served various purposes such as logistical support and the security of convoys and bases. Moreover, “ about 199,783 contractors were employed by the US in Iraq and Afghanistan in fiscal year 2010”, which truly demonstrates how far the contracting business has come in the United States in less than a
The society one lives in today is controlled by the flow of money. The use of wealth dictates the entire world, and as a result, power, success, and improvement come with the logical and thoughtful control of money. So why does Canada strive for success if the government can’t cut funds towards useless motions? The Canadian government should fund the military less. As of 2016, the Canadian government spent $19 billion, roughly 1.35% of Canada’s total GDP funding the military. Recent political debate has run into this topic: is spending $19 billion on the Canadian military logical? The disposition of this argument held in this essay believes it is not, and subsequently believes significant cuts in the military’s budget need to be made. The reason
In today’s world, especially in Canada, consumers generally want to satisfy all of their needs in a way that saves them the most time and energy. In order to meet this need, Target offers their customers the chance to buy different products that they would normally have to go to two or three different stores
Commercial buildings have increased their security measures due to bombings and terrorist attacks. Generally, they have security policies and an emergency management program that includes evacuation procedures. As far as access control is concerned, they have a reception desk in the lobby to control access into the building, confirm appointments of all visitors and issue temporary ID badges, and issue identification cards to all personnel and tenants that have their photograph and signature (“Security Tips”, 2006). Commercial buildings require the use of I.D. cards for access and require that cards be displayed at all times on the premises (“Security Tips”, 2006). Additionally, shipping and receiving areas have restricted access and is monitored by closed-circuit television surveillance (“Security Tips”, 2006). Security personnel are suitably selected and trained.
The Confederation took place in 1867, and the Canadian Expeditionary Force(CEF) was raised in 1914. The CEF is what protects what the Confederation created, and would not the nation’s greatest achievement be protecting that which the nation created. “Canada did not enter the war of its own accord but was automatically at war when Britain declared war against Germany.” Canada entered the war to stand by its mother country, to protect the country who founded it. The Canadian Corps and CEF were created to defend Canada, and fought not only in the war but for the recognition that Canada deserved, to then show that in the Great War we achieved something great, and finally to piece together to how Canada is now, to build through the years and show that this was truly Canada’s greatest achievement.
The Canadian Shield is a landform Region that covers almost half of Canada, including Nunavut, Quebec, Labrador, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The Canadian Shield is a landform that is composed of igneous and metamorphic rocks. It has a huge boreal forest ecosystem, hence, a lot of lands in the Canadian Shield are covered with trees. Due to the amount of trees and the boreal forest ecosystem, a number of animals such as horned owls, black bears and geese liked to live in the lands of the Canadian Shield. The Canadian Shield is covered with small lakes, this makes fishing a great recreation for human to do. The letter “A”, “C”, “A”, “N”, “E” and “D” reflects the information above.
Calling Britain “the mother country” suggests that Canada was in Britain’s command. Canada was highly influenced by Britain’s decisions. Britain was almost like a mother to Canada, influencing her decisions and having control over her, also like a daughter Canada wanted to make Britain proud.

The Virtual Fence project lacked a comprehensive and a robust integration management systems that ensured that all the 100 subcontractors that had been contracted by Boeing, the main contractor on the project, would work in a unified and team-oriented fashion to complete the multi-billion security project ahead of both schedule and cost. The original cause of the problem could be ascribed to the DHS formulating the entire project as a turnkey where all the work and oversight will be conducted by the contractor Boeing. There was a clear conflict of interest at the initiation of the project.

Which domain requires annual security awareness training and employee background checks for sensitive positions to help mitigate risk from employee sabotage?
The entrepreneurial sprit which began the foundations of Lockheed Martin remains alive within the company today. Although, the companies’ stricter guidelines do not allow an employee to simply begin an entrepreneurial venture on their own, the company has evolved from an airplane manufacturer to an organization that is involved in everything from defense to space exploration. This massive diversification of interests was brought about by intrapreneurial ventures. It was Lockheed Martin that coined the phrase “Skunkworks”, meaning specialized teams dedicated to discovering new projects. The origin story of “skunkworks” is well known and shows the tenacity and innovation that Lockheed Martin is capable of. In 1943, an engineer named Clarence “Kelly” Johnson and a group of young engineers were asked to design and build a jet fighter to help the US Army prepare for the growing German threat. The small group was isolated and the project was kept secret operating out of a circus tent because available and private space was scarce in the Lockheed Martin facility. The group was given one hundred and fifty days to complete the project, and they completed the jet in one hundred and forty-three (Miller, 1995). This spirt of innovation and growth marked the true beginning of the boom in product development which continues to this day under the same name, but this time trademarked.
