My favorite word is courage. Courage is my favorite word for many reasons. The first reason is that without courage we would achieve nothing in life. Without courage we would never push ourselves to greatness we would just back down whenever we met any resistance. The second reason is that it takes courage to help our fellow man. Sometimes it is intimidating trying to help someone; you worry if you are truly helping them or if you just made things worse. Courage is the difference between hiding from your problems and standing up and taking care of them. Many people claim that they are courageous but when put to the test they back down from the challenge. My father taught me the meaning of courage through his example in the fire department.
Courage, courage is standing for what’s right and going out of your comfort zone. Standing for what u believe in. Don’t be afraid of doing the impossible. Courage is hard to have but at the right time and the right place it will show.
lDonald Trump might not accept the results of the presidential election? Ok, I think that means that after Nov. 8 there will be no end to the angry blaming, bleating, threatening, denigrating attacks appearing in the leading stories of any and all media sources. When oh when will this ever stop? I’m desperate for silence.
In “The F Word” written by Firoozeh Dumas an excerpt from her autobiography titled Funny in Farsi, she talks about her struggles living in America from having a very different name, to not understanding English very well. Dumas uses examples from her childhood and all throughout her life to explain why she feels Americans are ignorant to new and different things. The author would like her audience to be aware of other cultures, and their names and lifestyles. She feels Americans were not open to accept her culture and difference, and instead of embracing it, they made fun and insulted what they were unsure of. Based on the simplicity of words she uses, the mild tempered language she includes, and how relatable her
George Orwell in his didactic political satire “Animal Farm” effectively alludes to the significant role propaganda plays within the novel to distort truth and exploit the proletariat. Throughout his satirical fable, Orwell critically explores the challenges encountered by the pig intelligentsia as revolutionary propaganda idealises Animalism which is subverted by naive and uneducated animals such as Molly. Her domesticated shallow mindset and vanity for decorative ribbons ultimately forms a foundation for her reliance and preference in maintaining Mr. Jone’s repressive status. This is clearly exemplified throughout “those ribbons that you are so devoted to are the badge of slavery. Can you not understand that liberty is worth more than ribbons?”.
The word ain’t is one of the most commonly-overlooked mistake in the English dictionary. It is used very often in TV, books, movies, media, and music, so we shouldn’t be surprised it is now in our real life. Even though our English teachers and grammar textbooks label the word ain’t as incorrect the use of the word has not been banished and we have no idea if it ever will be. Since, it continues to be in our language, and we often us it we should be informed of its origin and its development. However, there are different opinions on the development. Most writers on this issue seems to agree that the word ain’t has not been fully investigated and needs further research. A look at the history of ain’t can help determine how this simple contraction became a serious error in professional writing and speech.
My second wish is to write a country song that can help families that have been affected by natural disasters. I think that it would be great to have a country song that every single penny made on it went to the las vegas shooting ang hurricane families that have been affected and lost loved ones. What is going on right not with the natural disasters and the shootings and the terrorist attacks. It think that if i wrote a song that got sung by a willing singer it would be beneficial that the money wrnt to them. I hope this wish would help families.
The short story “Two Words” by Isabel Allende is a tale about a girl who went by the name of Belisa Crepusculario. She had extreme desire to be the best at selling words, since the first time she saw words in the sports section of the newspaper. Belisa learned to read from a priest for 20 pesos and read the dictionary until she knew it cold. She went from the top of blistering cold mountains to scorching hot coasts selling her words in markets and fairs. Belisa’s words became popular fast and everyone knew who she was. People waited for her from year to year to hear her words.
Forgiveness by the World English Dictionary is the “act of forgiving; state of being forgiven, disposition or willingness to forgive”. But what does it really mean? That is my question. Is being able to forgive and not forget the same thing? In my life, I have found that true forgiveness is a quality that separates us from other species and it is what makes us human. In order to truly and sincerely forgive, one must, aside from saying they have forgiven the person, let it go and not hold a grudge against that person. Just, as Mahatma Gandhi once said: “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." I believe that holds to be true.
What term of courage does mean to me? Courage is the act of standing up against whatever fears you may have or standing up in defense of another when they have fear and are unable to be courageous themselves. One of the greatest acts of courage that always comes to my mind is the courage that DR. Martin Luther King showed during the civil rights movement. He stood up for what he believed in in the face of unsurmountable odds. He refused to back down from what he believed in and what was right.
In Shaped by the Word, by Robert Mulholland Jr., one finds a way to read scripture in order to provide a deeper understanding of God and allow His Word to shape one’s spiritual life. In the Introduction, in chapter 1, the reader is introduced to the idea that there is a movement in the church that seeks to become deeper and stricter in spiritual formation. He claims there are many books written for this purpose, and his intending purpose for this book is for God to use however he may want in the reader’s spiritual life. Mulholland provides the reader with a prayer to pray in preparation of reading this book and states there may be points where God is knocking and calling the reader’s attention to something new.

Good- what is it that defines the word good? In order to understand what is a good language, we have to first define the word good. According to Dictionary.com, good is defined as morally excellent, virtuous, righteous, or pious. I believe the word good is deeper than that. Through my personally experiences the word good is subjective to the person it was be applied to and because of this reason I have concluded that a good language is defined by yourself and the society you reside in and it shows your personal morals.
One can love a sister, a brother, a mother, a father, grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins and friends, strangers, pets, the sunlight on a warm evening, reflecting through a prism, held by fishing line stuck to a little suction cup to a dusty window. You can love food from cake to roast beef, even those tiny individual candy bars that are never enough but just give you a taste of chocolate before you pop in the second one. One is able to love the feeling of carpet between toes or the tension in a hammocks string when you lay in that 'u' position swinging delightfully with each motion of your body. We can declare love for sounds coming from a stereo, love for that particular sound wave in coordination with other
Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary[1][1] defines art as “the conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects; also, works so produced.” This definition is inclusive of most forms of art. Unfortunately, art goes far beyond this limiting sentence. Art can be thoughts, aesthetic creations, musical compositions, or choreography. Art can be seen, heard, and/or felt. Art is concrete and abstract, at the same time. Art is expression and emotion. Art is anything.
Do names really define a human being? I believe a person should be original, however that does not mean having a unique name. In my opinion, names are useful to acknowledge a person not label them. The above quote by William Shakespeare is symbolic to my beliefs. The poem’s meaning is a rose smells as sweet even if it was called any other name. That is conclusive to my thoughts because the rose is sweet from being a flower not because of it’s name. Your name doesn’t characterize you, but you personalize your name to fit your traits.
