What is pride? Pride is “an excessive belief in one’s own abilities that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God”. It has been called the sin from which all others arise also known as Vanity. It’s the same pride that’s keep quoting love wins quotation, painting everything rainbow mischaracterizing it’s meaning, and changing the meaning of marriage; majority of the individuals involved in the same-sex community feel that things they’re doing is right because of our great first amendment ignoring the truth and it’s not. Marriage isn’t considered a marriage even if it is the law of the land. Marriage is very old it was defined between Adam and Eve. Former gay Pastor Donnie McClurkin said, “No matter what my past was feelings, and struggles God has set the only standard for marriage between man and woman.” So someone who has attractions to the same sex, but understand the concept of marriage why can’t everyone else can’t. It is not between man and man, woman and woman, or transgender. The sense of pride and the concept of rainbows has been changed. Pride and the rainbow are very big religiously. A there are two different types of prideful person in the bible is someone who feels a job well done, and a sinful person who shifts ultimate confidence from God to self. Its stories about God humbling prideful people like King Nebuchadnezzar and Hezekiah that God humbled down. Pride caused the community to use to rainbow. The rainbow also has a lot of symbolism to it. In the bible a rainbow appears right after the flood to remove sinful and evil people from the Earth. It symbolizes the covenant God made with Noah that he will not destroy Earth with water again. If these things been set since dirt been created so why change it. Shouldn’t you show the traditional ways as much respect you
That was the day the first legal homosexual marriage occurred. Since then, parts of the world have let homosexual marriage into their culture. “In 2004, Massachusetts became the first state to issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples” (Gay Marriage State by State: From a Few States to the Whole Nation). Four years later, in 2008, another state legalized it. This state was Connecticut. “Citing that decision in part, dozens of federal district courts declared state marriage restrictions to be unconstitutional, the Supreme Court declined to intervene, and the number of states authorizing same-sex marriage expanded rapidly” (Gay Marriage State by State: From a Few States to the Whole Nation). The last states to legalize it were: almost every state between Texas and Florida, North and South Dakota, and Nebraska. Since then, protests about churches not marrying homosexual couples have occurred, streets have parades marching down them, with people carrying their rainbow colored flags to represent “gay pride” and hoping that this is enough for people to protest with them to let homosexual marriage never be refused again.
On June 26, 2015 the US Supreme Court ended the ban on same sex marrige , deckaring it unconstitutional. The following Sunday Bishop T.D. Jakes stated his opinion on the subject during service. He said "I'm not really concerned about it... the world is gonna be the world and the church is gonna be the church, and you have to understand the difference.” This speaks to how far society has come, and how much closer we are to equality. even with the differences of opinion.
The book Zeitoun basically talks about a Syrian American family’s experience in the time of Hurricane Katrina. It was mainly divided into two story lines, one of Abdulrahman Zeitoun, the main character, a Syrian American contractor; and one of Kathy, his wife, a white woman converted Muslim. Zeitoun had an extraordinary life, also an extraordinary experience in the time of Hurricane Katrina. He was a successful well-known businessman in local area. When everyone else was fleeing their hometown before Katrina came, Zeitoun chose to stay to protect his house and business. Later then when the city was flooded, he travelled around with his small canoe, delivering help and resources. However, he was wrong
What is pride? The Oxford Dictionary says that pride is, “A feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.” Pride can consume people and change them for the worst. Pride leads to destruction when used against others. Being prideful is a good characteristic to have, but there comes a point when being ¨prideful¨ turns into being shameful for someone else.
Where’s the Penn State Pride?By Sahib KaurDear Executive Board of Penn State,I once was a prospective student who was considering applying for Penn State, among various other universities. When doing my college research, the first thing that I did was look up the college websites. And as most other students would believe, the website is the main source for discerning the institution’s credibility and status. Unfortunately, I have to say, that Penn State’s website does not do the college justice. With no visual ascetics, no organized structure, and no evidence of pride, the Penn State website is at best, mediocre. When opening up to the page, the reader is fiercely exposed to a vast expanse of a bright blue hue. While I understand that blue
In many modern works, such as Shakespeare’s Macbeth, and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, pride is tragic flaw, and the undoing of great heroes. However, in Homer’s The Iliad, It is not clear as to whether pride is a trait to loathe or to love. Substantial arguments can be made on both sides, since both the hero Achilleus who ultimately is a victor, and the hero Hektor, who eventually loses his life both posses a desire for honor and glory. Homer uses these two characters to contrast the effects of pride on the hero and their respective outcomes.
Pride is felt or expressed on a continuum, so it can manifest in various ways. It can be a healthy way to feel about personal achievements, connections to a social group, or a display of arrogance and boastfulness. Personally, no sort of pride is a familiar feeling, especially not the latter.
In life precision and pride go hand in hand in what you do and how stuff turns out. When you choose to not take pride in the things you do then it's most likely gonna come out bad and or imprecise. These two character attributes go hand in hand inside school and outside.
The word pride in itself isn’t an important word but it’s meaning implies many things. There are several different definitions for pride. Pride can be referred to as a type of plant, a form of body ornamentation, or even a group of lions. The most commonly used definition of pride is being proud, or having a feeling of great accomplishment and feeling self-satisfaction. The word pride both positive and negative meanings that can be seen throughout history.
Taking pride in your work is not necessarily boasting about how good you did something. Taking pride in something is being able to recognize that you worked hard and accomplished something. Many people have inverted the meaning of pride, when you work hard for something and do it the right way you feel accomplished that is the real meaning of pride.
Not wrong, but a little contemptible… The thing about the pride movement is that is not just about sexuality (and by saying “I’m proud to be straight” you’re kinda reducing it to that), it’s everything that the LGBT+ community had to endure. And you have to look back in history and understand the reality of things. You have to look at the suicide rate among LGBT people; all the civil rights they were (and are still) denied; the fact that a lot of them lose the love from their families and friends when they come out; how most religions perceive them; and even stuff like the AIDS crisis in the 80s. People called it a “gay cancer” and government did very little to help these people, because it wasn’t something that affected the straight community
Calling something marriage does not make it marriage. Marriage is a legal contract between a man and a woman. It is the institution that establishes kinship and relations in the family. Marriage is mostly recognized by a state, organization, religious authority, local community, or peers. Marriage is for procreation, education, the unity, and well-being of the couple. Some say marriage is for two people who love each other and ready for commitment. Nevertheless, in the bible times, couples were not allowed to choose the one him or her married. Therefore, the person he or she married was not the person him or her loved. Divorce was not an option; the couples had to learn to love the person they married. Stating this, marriage is not all about love and emotions, but the purpose of marriage. Marriage is unique and universal. (Rauch) Marriage of homosexual couples would not provide the same benefits of a heterosexual couple. Homosexual are not allowed to produce children. They must have vitro-fertilization or surrogacy. Same-sex couples should not be allowed to marry, because marriage is for a man and a woman, all religion is against gay marriages, and gay marriages are the slippery slope for other marriages. (Ferguson)
Before we can understand same-sex marriage, there are 2 things that we must understand. First is, that God created humans in his own image. In Genesis 1:27 it is stated, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them…” When God created the living creatures, he only spoke his command before it appeared before him. However, when God created mankind, he created us through his own image. This shows that human kind is special towards God, as he personally molded humans to suit his image. Second, God
For years and years, homosexuals have fought for the right to marry their loved one. It has been looked down upon, called immoral, sinful, and deeds of the devil, but that is not the way it is seen by those who support or engage in it. Supporters view marriage as the union of two individuals who love each other. They no longer see it as the concept of "traditional marriage". They believe traditional marriage has changed over time, and that the definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman is historically inaccurate (should

They will now have the same benefits as any other married couple in the United States of America. Even though same-sex marriage will not be officially legal until June it is still a victory in the LGBT community and will not go unnoticed.
