Definition Essay: The Power Of Trust

The true meaning of trust is the “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something” from Merrian Webster. This tells you that trust is something that is hard to get. People these days can’t do all these things. Trust is a rare thing to have with a person. Trust is something you have to give your all to.

When I was a little kid, about 8 to 9 years of age, I usually believed on anything a person said. Specifically the time when one of my classmates said “I’ll give back your pencil at the end of class.” That’s where trust comes in: a substantial belief in one’s loyalty, truth, or ability. In fact, he never gave it back which saddens me because the pencil he kept was actually my favorite one. It’s understandable that a pencil is cheap and easily replaceable, but that doesn’t give anyone the right to keep it without the owner’s consent.

Trust. What is it really? It can take on many forms in our lives, and grows and develops into a word that takes on a deeper meaning as we get older and mature. It goes hand in hand with love, friendship, and successful relationships in life. Trust is essentially believing in someone or something and leaving yourself open and vulnerable to possible pain, distress, and in some cases, heartbreak.

That’s all opinions, if we want to be politically correct, then trust is “a firm reliability, truth, ability, or strength of something or someone.” Without a doubt, my disagreement is high with this comment. Some people are reliable, but are not trustworthy enough to balance a bucket of water above your head without dropping it. So, the belief a person has in somebody can go both ways, because it can also be that they can trust somebody with their secrets, they just cannot trust them to save them from an endangered

What does trust mean to you? To me, it’s the most important thing in a relationship. Trust keeps your connection thriving. Without trust, you won’t make it through life. Trust has multiple definitions, but when I think about trust, always coming through, and being trustworthy are the first ideas that come to mind.Most importantly, Trust can be defined as someone you can tell anything to. Trust is not something that should be taking lightly. One trust can make a different world. But, we can’t trust someone 100%, because there is a few factor that explain why. We have all been hurt by losing trust with something or someone, whether it’s a relationship, friendship, family bond, etc. It’s truly heartbreaking at times. We can all relate to that hurt. Trust is a thing that we don’t even realize at times that we are giving to this person or thing. It is giving something or someone the power to hurt you, but expecting them not to. Some give too much trust.

What is trust? According to the dictionary trust means to be reliable or the strength of someone / something. Trust for me means that a friend, family, or group believe in you and will always have your back. Furthermore it is not that simple, it’s deeper than what people think because it continues to grow and come with challenges in life. Sometimes it’s hard to gain or receive trust but it all depends on the person.
