A hero is someone who helps others and strives to make the world a better place. Our world is shrouded in the darkness of others and heroes are often the light to our darkness. While most people get lost in our world, some people help shine a light on others and make the world a better place. An example of this is a mission worker spreading hope and joy throughout the world. Heroes often sacrifice themselves or their power for a greater good.

Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country. Even a parent can be a hero to his or her child by leading them in the right direction. All teachers are heroes when they make it their job to teach a child anything that will help them in life. You don’t have to go to great lengths by risking your life to make a difference in someone else’s life.

Christopher Reeve once said “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Usually, when the word “hero” comes to mind people think of a superhero such as Superman, or someone who is or was fighting for their country. While yes, these are examples of heroes, most people don’t think to include ordinary average people as heroes. One can represent heroism by facing challenges and taking action, staying courageous, and not giving up no matter the sacrifices they have to make, including their well-being or in some cases their life.
