When America was founded there were no parties but just a set of laws known as the constitution. It was a moral code to live by. Now today because of our freedom to have our own opinions as citizens we have quickly formed different parties. There are two main parties which are Democrat and Republican. Each of these parties has different views and where they stand on healthcare, national defense/security, and economy. Healthcare is a fundamental right that I believe every citizen of the United States should receive regardless of social class. Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarians view healthcare differently. Republican views health care to be a lot of money. The health care they want would provide options for individuals to deduct human …show more content…
Republicans look at national defense as a strong and comprehensive system. Republican view that strengthening the military will build a safer environment and a stable defense system for this country. “Republicans believe that raising the defense budget is the only way to “restore the health of a defense industry weakened by a combination of neglect and misguided policies”(Republican Views.org). On the other hand, Democrats are focused on strengthening our defense system. Providing our military with new and improved weapons in our to complete missions successfully and come home safely to their families. “We have increased funding for counterintelligence activities and human intelligence collection; enhanced cybersecurity efforts; and bolstered aviation, port, and border security”(Democratic Whip). Libertarians support the maintenance of a sufficient military to support our country against any violence. “The United States should both avoid entangling alliances and abandon its attempts to act as policeman for the world. We oppose any form of compulsory national service”(Libertarian Party). The Libertarians are against any form of national
Since America’s early founding in 1776 we have been a country of wide ranging political views. Our first two political parties were the Federalist and the Anti-Federalist. These two parties changed how people think about government issues, political opinions, and the topics that drove the growth of our nation. Federalist and Anti-Federalist split the nation with beliefs, important politicians, and support from the people.
In the United States there are only two main political parties to choose from. The two main parties are the Democrats and the Republicans. There are also many other political parties to choose from which are called third parties. Third parties may include political parties such as the Socialist Equality Party and the Peace and Equality party. People can choose to be a part of any party they want but most go with the common two main parties the Democrats and Republicans. Democrats and Republicans have many similarities and differences. These mainly occur in international, social, economic, and domestic issues.
Democrats express that the values America supports must evolve over time, and therefore tend to support controversial issues such same-sex marriage and abortion. Republicans values tend to be religious in nature which means Republicans will most likely disapprove of abortions for any reason and disagree with same-sex marriage.
Have you ever herd of government parties? The original parties of America were the Democratic Republicans and the Federalists. The Federalists were made by Alexander Hamilton. The DEmocratic Republicans were made by thomas Jefferson and John Adams. As you can imagine these parties had very different views for the new country. They disagreed on a lot of things, including whether they should have a strong state government or a strong federal government.
“The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by a group of renegade Democrats, Whigs, and political independents who opposed the expansion of Slavery into new U.S. territories and states. What began as a single-issue, independent party became a major political force in the United States. Six years after the new party was formed, Republican nominee Abraham Lincoln won the U.S. presidential election. The Republican Party and its counterpart, the Democratic Party, became the mainstays of the nation's de facto two-party system.” As stated in the free dictionary’s definition of the republican party. The Republican and Democrat parties are opposites on almost every decision they come to. The Republican party is more small government whereas the Democratic party is pro big government.
The two main political parties in the U.S. are the Democratic Party founded by Andrew Jackson and Republican Party founded by anti slavery activist in the northern states. Both of these parties have different views and are the only ones used in the American government since 1952. The electoral
Views between the two major parties of government in the United States have many differences and few similarities. The Republican side of government tends to be more conservative and more for the people’s freedoms. They also support government intervention only when necessary. The Democratic side of government tends to be more liberal and support heavy government intervention. Views between abortion, gay marriage, and many other controversial topics differ greatly between the Democratic and Republican Party.
John Adams, one of the founding fathers, wrote that “There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution” (“Quote by John Adams”). The Two-Party system has been around since the start of America. The Two-Party system is a system that has two parties that the government, or America in this case, has that lead the government or America. At the current time, the two parties are the Republican and Democrat parties. It was created with the idea that everyone can be represented within either of the parties. Even though it does create some representation of the people, the two-party system does not create an equal policy in society because it does not allow people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties, does not allow the idea of having more than two parties, and because it doesn't represent everyone.
America also has not agreed on the government’s budget and economy. The debate is whether government funds should be focused more on programs for the society or a military. The Democratic Party opposes the large amount spent on military. They believe a massive amount of money is required for the government to provide a happy, healthy, shameless, and exciting society for everyone. The programs of society are more important to them than all the money spent on our military. According to them, a huge government staff is necessary to ensure that each and every citizen is doing what they are supposed to be doing. They believe penalizing peoples achievements by high taxes, increased government bureaucracy, and spending will lead everyone to prosperity. The Republican Party would like to cut back on government spending, especially in social, environmental, and health programs. They think we should reduce government programs and increase community programs. National Defense is a priority to republicans, which requires a military budget far greater than previous budgets in any of the major wars. In their view, a military government must remain strong, regardless of the price. Republicans believe that high taxes, runaway
Political parties developed in the United States mostly because of differences between Hamilton and Jefferson and how they the government should run. Hamilton and Jefferson disagreed on most of the issues. Having different parties allows us to have our own opinion so you can say what we want to say. To have what we want to say we have the freedom of speech. This is why I believe political parties developed in the United States.
The United States began as a weak, newborn nation that grew into a large, self-supporting country with a governing body unique to this time period. As the government grew and the nation prospered, the rise of leaders and political figures came about and with this, conflicting principles and ideology spawned, thus creating the first of the political parties; the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans. Although the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans ideology and stances on the power of the federal government, domestic economic policies and the group of constituents they represented differed vastly, members of both parties often compromised their own beliefs for the nation’s best interest as a whole.
During the early days of this country the people of America were in a debate over how this country should be governed. The main controversy was over whether a strong federal government was better than strong states. Out of this controversy two factions arose, the federalists and the anti-federalists. These two different styles of governing continued over even after the constitution was ratified. This eventually led to the party system we see today.
Political parties started in America by the differing views of Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson on the government and published newspapers that heated party rivalry.
There have been many different political parties since the beginning of the American political system. A political party is made up of a group of people that share common goals and ideals, and these people work together to help elect people to offices that share these goals to represent them. Political parties work to try to control the government and their ultimate goal is to win as many elections and to gain as many offices as possible.
Since the administration of George Washington two political parties have dominated the United States political system, but they have not always been the same two parties. The first two parties were the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Federalists were those who supported a strong federal government and the Anti-Federalists were those who did not. The leaders of the Federalists were Alexander Hamilton and John Adams. Both were from the Northeast where the Federalist line of thinking was strongest. Thomas Jefferson became the leader of the Anti-Federalists. These two groups really did not considered themselves parties. The founders feared parties because they thought of them as factions.
