The Dental Lifeline Network provides oral care for people with limited financial income. DLN strives to change lives of countless people who lack access to dental care. The mission of the project I was working on is to find new ways to recruit new patients and volunteers. During my internship, I was focusing on Rhode Island, Texas, Illinois, and Iowa. I start researching and helping the DOS find the best ways to recruit new patient. For Rhode Island, I start researching and finding school nurses and agencies that works with youth or low income families and created spreadsheet to keep track of their contact information. I also created flyers and emailed the 30 school nurses and 8 agencies. Since the Rhode Island DOS program has a number of volunteer dentists waiting for a DOS patient, I emailed 21 dentists to remind them about the DOS program and ask if they can refer patients that will be eligible for the DOS program. For Texas, I was focusing on recruiting applicants, I start putting together a list of agencies and school nurses. I emailed Dr. Wise the list of agencies and school nurses and he suggested I’d focus on the head nurse in each district instead of the individual school nurses, because he said that those names will be meaningful. I did the same think as Rhode Island and Texas, I research and find 18 school nurses and 12 agencies contact and I emailed them DOS letter. Also, I emailed the letter to the pediatric dentist because they are trained to handle problems particular to children and they can refer more kids to the DOS program. I saved all the documents under the DOS Illinois folder. For Iowa, I emailed 12 schools and 15 agencies about the DOS program.
