The relationship which exists between American expansionism, the "frontier" and urbanization is not hard to understand. It is necessary to see the concept frontier since it seems to be like a new term. A frontier is something that is said to be very important, which shows certain changes especially in a changing society. A frontier in American is viewed from the primary human aspects exist between people and the nature rather than people themselves. On the other hand, urbanization refers to a situation when there is a total increase in population people moving from city to town (Howard-Borjas). This paper highlights the relationship between American expansionism and urbanization.
American expansionism, the “frontier” and urbanization are related because of the general practices. There is expansion or growth whereby the country has improved in various activities. In town or cities, this is one of the characterizing features because of various transformational activities. This is crucial as it leads to the growth and development of further companies, which are very important in America. This is related to urbanization where the organizations being established in order to make good use of the land attributes to the growth of towns and cities. In addition to that, it is very clear that urbanization has grown from the undeveloped situation. This is also the case for American expansionism because most of the development activities build up from the bad conditions according to the American
Moreover, the document also helps visualize the linking of the regions in which national markets emerged, as well urbanization and industry expansion. To extend on this idea, immigration grew alongside industry expansion. For more land became accessible for sale, which was an advantage to those whom jobs (like those building railroads or working in companies near them) called for them to live near. Although the most convenient way to transport goods was using the railroad, it also worsened the economic hardship that farmers had, for the prices that they had to pay to export their goods, were quite elevated.
In addition to commerce, the growth and movement of people was also significant to the development of the United States. The birth rate decreased because people wanted prosperity for their children. However, this didn’t stop the population from growing at a swift pace. The pace was so fast that the Americans “spread themselves over half a continent … (and) that astonished everyone”. In fact, between 1790 and 1820, the population of New York quadrupled, whereas that of Kentucky multiplied over eight times. In general, the “Americans occupied more territory than they occupied during the entire 150 years of the colonial period”.
According to Document 3, the US must "look outward" for natural resources because "the growing production of the country demands it". This is an instance in which expansionism in the US favored continuity. During the late 18th and early 19th century, while there was much continuity, significant changes occurred in the United States. According to Document 6, expansionism was not as a result of the hunger for land and resources alone, but a desire to bring aid and prosperity to less fortunate people.

In the late 19th century, a new idea of expansionism had interested the nation. During the spanish American war, many people were divided over the topic of Imperialism. Ultimately, many benefits came with US territory expanding. Not only did the US get bigger, but many aspects of our nation improved significantly. American expansion abroad was justified because it helped the government and economy advance greatly.
In the 19th century the U.S grew in size and power. After the Louisiana Purchase from France, which doubled the size of the country also opened up a bit better-known region to exploration and ultimate settlement. Soon, explorers were getting back from forays into the geographic region with stories of nice stretches of beauty and fertile land. That helped and encouraged the government and the people to move west and acquire more lands. Although the Western Expansion had a great effect on the Western Frontier which helped in forming railroads and helped the economy, but it had a huge effect on the Native People as they lost their lands and many died people
Late nineteenth century and early twentieth-century United States expansionism was a continuation from past United States expansionism because of the reasoning and purposes behind the expansion. In both time periods the purpose of acquiring more land was to do according to God’s will, gain more power, and improve the U.S. economy. Religion can be found at the core reasons of why many people choose to act upon a variety of things in their lives. A prime example of this prior to late nineteenth-century would be Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny was the belief that the United States has a mission to spread its ideals, such as freedom and liberty through territorial expansion, all justified under the idea that this was God’s will that must be
In the first two decades of the twentieth century, the United States experienced a large increase in political, economic, and social reforms. During this time, there had been an increase in urbanization, and industrial factories within the larger cities throughout the United States, particularly in the northeastern cities. With the addition of the industries and factories too populated also came a growing number of immigrants, and seekers of wealth and employment. As a result, the population increase would result in major issues which would overshadow the economic gains that came from industrialization. In addition, the rise of industrialization also brought about major issues within the populations of the city. After seeing
In the late 1800s and early 1900s Americans expanded abroad into other countries and areas. American expansion was unjustified with the barbaric ways that we gained land in one case, and what we did with land in another case.
In the beginning the frontier was Atlantic coast. The frontier was Europe in some sort of real sense. While moving towards the west the frontier became more American. Form the frontier being advanced it meant a steady movement away from any influence from Europe, a constant growth of independence in American lines. The only way to study the frontier’s advance, the men who were growing up in the conditions, and the economic, and social results of it, is really the study of American part of our
During the 1890’s, the United States began building and advancing their economy, as well as focusing more independently on becoming an even more powerful nation. Not only did the Americans begin to create a stronger national military and navy, they also began to look overseas towards the Pacific Ocean for resources and territories; this is when America began to look less like a national power and more like an imperial power. There were many reasons as to why the United States began to expand between 1880-1929, two of which include the military opportunities countries abroad had to offer, such as Pearl Harbor, as well as the domestic and political objectives the U.S. felt obligated to fulfill. Although, there were many important reasons for the United States to began to expand, the most significant reason for the expansionist foreign policy was the economic resources and opportunities other foreign countries had to offer the U.S.
Through a multitude of significant changes physically, conceptually, economically, and more, the societal reformation of cities in the Progressive Era had set themselves as the foundations of American civilization. The juxtaposition between the rich and poor statuses in these urban areas show the drastic separation within developing cities. Through this division caused a wide variety of living conditions, the majority of which held the overcrowded sections of cities where the population mostly stayed while the higher end communities had more luxurious lives. Through this success of entrepreneurship and economic growth from all aspects in cities, the entire landscape, both physically through innovative architecture and the perspectives outside rural and suburban areas had on them, had transformed for the better in these areas.
The American Expansion was a big jump for the Americans in A lot of ways. What we should discuss what happened after the expansion how and why exactly it happened! The last reason they wanted to move westward was that they wanted to expand businesses and give everyone a chance to make money.
