One of the best days I’ve ever had was going to a Green Day concert with my friends during spring break this year. The show was in Champaign, which is a place I’ve never been to before. It was my first time seeing Green Day, one of my favorite bands, so I was looking forward to that day. We were in school when we came up with this idea. Lupita, Jennifer and I were sitting in our usual seats for movie club. Our junior English teacher, Mr. Madsen, did not have the movie ready, so while we waited for the movie to start, Lupita brought up her birthday.
“So what are we doing for my birthday?”
“Whatever you want!”
“Let’s go to the Green Day concert! Would you like to drive us to Champaign to see Green Day?”
“I love Green Day, so it will be

As we continued to search for the entrance, the merch stand caught our attention. The line was relatively short, so we were not there for quite a long time. Lupita and Jennifer both bought the tour shirt.
Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” echoed in the hallways as we walked farther away from the entrances. As we made way to the front again, I noticed we were supposed to take these stairs to the left of the entrance. We’ve never felt so stupid in our entire lives. We walked as fast as we could down a long hallway when the song echoing the hallways changed to The Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop”. We knew this meant that the show was about to begin. We quickly found our seats and then the entire room went dark.
This was one of the moments I was looking forward to because everyone in the room feels the exact same way. The entire room cheered as loud as they could as Green Day came out. They opened up with “Know Your Enemy”, which is one of my favorite song of theirs. Lights from people 's phones filled the venue as Billie brought out his acoustic guitar to slow down Boulevard of Broken Dreams. The entire atmosphere of the concert was different from the other concerts I 've been to. Throughout the entire concert, the scent of marijuana became more prevalent. Alcohol flew out of cups, and mosh pits occurred on the floor. I’ve never been
Rock ‘n’ Roll began and evolved around the late 1940’s and 1950’s time frame. There were many groups that participated in the creation and origin of Rock ‘n’ Roll, however the two primary groups were rhythm and blues and country music. “The origins of rock ‘n’ roll are often described in a way that could be represented by an algebraic formula: r&b + c&w = r&r” (Garofalo & Waksman, 2016, p. 56). While the formula is rather simplistic, it ignores the many groups of individuals, social and cultural influences that impacted the formation of Rock ‘n’ Roll. As Rolling Stone’s Robert Palmer (1990) noted:
The night was coming to an end; parents were slowly showing up to collect their kids. The DJ announced it was the last song of the night. It was our theme song. Jaimie and I swayed together on the dance floor belting out the words we knew by heart when we heard what sounded like
The drums came in, reverberating through the amphitheater before Tyler sang his first note of the eighteen song setlist and bright, luminous lights struck flashing over the crowd like a lightning storm. I couldn’t contain my smile and I was shaking uncontrollably at that moment; it just felt so surreal, and you can tell everyone else felt the same way. Everybody was jumping up and down, and singing along, and I watched before my eyes as the entire theatre came together and become one, all thanks to music. One of the highlights of the show was during a medley of their older songs in which they performed a part of their song “Screen”, and the entire crowd was chanting the bridge, “We’re broken people”. Twenty One Pilots’ music talks a lot about depression and different struggles, and although I’m not depressed, we all have our own personal struggles. Having music you can relate to can really help you, and this part of the show was a perfect example of that. There’s just something comforting about a crowd of people all singing about how broken they are; it can give you a sense of hope and a realization that you’re not

When the majority of the population thinks of rock 'n ' roll, most tend to correlate the beginnings of the rock genre with Elvis Presley or The Beatles. However, the greater part of the start of rock 'n ' roll must be attributed to the influence of African American culture and music. The African American culture initiated and impacted so many of the first genres in music that stemmed off into be many of the genres we still listen to today. Due to racism and discrimination many “race” artists were not recognized for their artistic abilities. Most African American musicians have become discredited due to white musicians covering African American songs and making it more popular. Rock ‘n’ roll was a collective effort of white and black culture and musicians but little credit has gone to the African American side of the genre. To truly understand how “race” artists were the people to help mold rock ‘n’ roll, you must go back to the very beginning of the start of the music business.
There’s no better feeling than being at a concert and jamming along to songs that you love while surrounded by people who share the same love for the music. Music concerts are majestic environments where a variety of different people come together in order to share their love of music. A few weeks ago I attended a Zac Brown Band concert for the first time and I was truly inspired by the band’s artistry and skill. The band was fully able to captivate their audience with their soulful tunes and obvious passion for performing. One moment of the concert that particularly stood out to me was when the band performed a cover of The Beatles hit song “Let it Be.” Zac Brown Band was able to stay true to the original song while bringing a whole different level of soul to the music through the addition of a gospel choir. The audience immediately related to the song and came together to sing along to a song by one of the biggest bands in music history. Zac Brown Band was able to successfully deliver such a powerful song as “Let it Be” which was off of The Beatles final studio album.
One summer day, me and my sister penelope received a call from my aunt. The call was to ask if we would go to a baseball game. Well of course we agreed, why would we not go to what would be our first game. The date was set, it was a day before Independence day. I was very excited I counted down on my cute marble print planner with a big blue sticker phrased “ seize today”. Finally I’m going to do something for the summer!
The day my mom told me that theirs was a concert at the state fair arena I was so happy. We went to get dinner before the concert started and once we ate we drove all the way to the arena once we got there It was packed there was a really long line and so we waited and waited until finally we got our tickets I was so nervous to go in but I was ready. Once we got into the arena it wasn’t that full once I saw it but there was still a lot of people this person helped us find our seats. We were in the third row I was so excited to sit there because I wouldn’t have to walk very far to the stage.
The day was already crazy, I got home from my vacation at four in the morning. I was running off of five hours of sleep and the concert didn't even start until seven; ending at twelve. I was on my way to go pick up my best friend, Taylor; its a ritual for us to get ready together before every show we go to. Taylor and I went back to my house to start preparing for the rave. Finally it was four o'clock and we were ready to leave.
I was so into the song that I didn’t see Evy slip away into the back of the stage where she had hymned the background music. The audience erupted into a roar. Everyone in the audience stood up. A person was walking towards the stage. I recognized him immediately. His name was Ansel. He was a college scout for Juilliard. He asked to see me after the show.
After a long tragic four-year break-up the boys are back and determined to save rock and roll. If their comeback suggests delusion of grandeur, they’re only picking up where they left off.
I let the intro go by as I stepped into the middle of the room, the sounds of the chants getting drowned out by the sounds of the Beach Boys.
The best four days of my life were exhausting, challenging, and hectic. A traditional Native American dance, the Sunrise dance, takes place when girls are becoming of age. The first day we get dressed by our godmothers, and partake in a social dance with a fire symbolistic of the elders bringing peace, joy,and harmony to the ceremony. The next morning we dance again, then the evening of that same day, we dance with the crown dancers. On the third day, the girl gets painted then her and her godparents do an exchange. On the fourth day the girl gets undressed.
Going to a concert is an experience incomparable to any other. Here it is, the moment, every concert goer has been waiting for, the artist coming onto the stage. Hearts begin to race as the music builds each fleeting second before the artist comes out. Smoke fills the dark stage illuminated by the band's tour video playing. Then, in the center of the stage, doors begin to open revealing four singing boys. Crying and screaming
As we all waited in line to go into the concert there was a thrill of
