Being a young boy, I wasn’t the brightest light bulb in the ceiling. I was the kind of kid that could get good grades, but when told to put an ice bag in the freezer, I accidently put it in the fridge. A person that would go to a parade, and take the good pieces of candy that they threw. It was not one of the smartest things I’ve done in my life. At this parade, I would steal candy, go to the nearby park, and play tennis. At the parade, things were starting off very slow. It was very boring for me as a kid, so I had to try to entertain myself. One of the first things I tried doing at this parade was try to spider climb up the wall of a building. The roughness of the bricks I would try to grab would cut my small, fragile fingers and then the blood would start pouring out. I knew that if I was in the ocean, a shark would smell it from miles away and gobble me up as if I was a turtle. The boredom was eating me to death, but then I noticed that they were throwing candy at the crowd. I ran up to get some, so excited to put the delicious pieces of sugar into my mouth. After getting an absurd amount of candy, I saw my favorite type; a Hershey's chocolate bar. As I was running to get it, I saw a little kid was about to grab the delicious tantalizing chocolate bar(probably about 6 or 7 years old), I snatched it from his mitts. I then realised my step-dad, Brian, watched me do that, scolded me then told me to go back over there and give it to the 6 year old. After that incident I
Toward the beginning of the 18th century, a new ideology began to take hold of Europe. It was during this time that a radical and critical revolution took place to bring about the use of rational thought and enlighten the people about their own beliefs and values; thus igniting the period of Enlightenment. In this period many people followed the teachings of their forefathers, such as Socrates, who was considered a figure of skepticism and rational thought. Challenging all views and theorems was the main point of this new ideology. Voltaire, a very powerful and influential figure among the writers of the 18th century, was known for his rejection of religion and a devout deist. In one of his most famous works, Candide, he
Rock candy is a simple scientific experiment made at home from sugar and water. Rock candy can be made up of different types of sugar. I used pure cane granulated sugar. Rock candy is formed when sugar is dissolved in boiling water and is cooled and placed in a glass jar with the wooden skewer. When the water evaporates the sugar crystal will start to grow overtime. The water and sugar is a saturated solution, meaning that water could only hold sugar if both were very hot. By cooling the water, the sugar comes out of the solution and forms crystals on the skewer and around the glass. The hypothesis for my experiment was that the more sugar you use the more crystals will form. My question is if you add more sugar, will more crystals?
If the company we outsource with has some sort of issue with its equipment or is running behind schedule it will delay our orders and reflect poorly upon our company. If we choose not to do anything we will continue running at inefficient levels costing us more and more money as time goes on.
Have you ever heard that too much television can ruin a child’s mind? Malcolm Gladwell proposes in his article, “Brain Candy,” that playing video games or watching television is just as important as reading a book. Gladwell is using rhetorical appeals to prove that in fact, video games are not dumbing down society. Pop culture is helping to improve test scores and knowledge. In “Brain Candy,” Malcolm Gladwell does affectively use rhetorical appeals to convince his audience that pop culture is making our society smarter.
It took me three times to get use to riding a bike and after I got it down, we decided to head out down the block to Independence park on the bikes. This was the only park in the city that had a mix of a skate park and traditional park. We would usually hang out in the playground since we did not skate. When we got to front of the park we set our bikes down by a wooden fence that separated the grass area and parking lot. Isabel and Bianca had rushed out to the swings and I did some snooping around the park. I was always curious about my surroundings when I went out since I did not have that luxury to be out or play when I would have wanted to. I loved taking in the scenery, the beauty of the nature, and the flowers. They were my favorite thing about visiting Independence park. I was walking around this fence that surrounded the playground until I had reached the restrooms. I noticed this huge brown paper bag sitting on this phone booth. I was secretly freaking out cause I was curious to what was inside. My mom had always told me not be a traviesa (naughty) and that I should never touch what doesn’t belong to me so I rushed off to Isabel and Bianca to tell them about the bag. I figured I needed some partners in crime for this. When I got to the swings I was very out of breath I was a pretty chubby kid growing up, but that still did not stop me from running, I enjoyed it a lot actually. As gathered myself together and took in a deep breath Isabel yelled, “What is it? Why are you running so fast?” I looked up to her and said, “There is a brown on phone booth just sitting there. It’s so strange no one is here at the park and it is just there. Why?” She gave me a look as if I had said the most uninteresting thing on the planet and continued to say, “Okay? Why does this
In the article "How Candy Conquered America by Lauren Tarshis" and the article “This Cupcake Is Trying to Hurt You by Kristin Lewis" they both talk about candy and how it became so popular and how it is unhealthy. In the first article it says "They removed the chemical flavorings and colors. Big mistake! Loyal customers were furious. sales dropped 35 percent, and the company decided to return to the original formula." (Tarshis 25). In the second article it says "New studies have linked high-sugar diets to a host of other terrifying diseases too--Diabetes, cancer, heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and stroke. Sugar may also contribute to depression, tiredness, and learning and memory issues (not so great on the day of a big test).”
Nowadays, it seems as if you can find sugar anywhere and everywhere. You can go to the grocery store and there will be shelves upon shelves of candy bars. Not only are they plentiful, but they’re also cheap. It appears that every sugary food item is extremely affordable, and healthy foods are expensive. Well, it hasn’t always been that way. Sugar used to be expensive and difficult for many to afford. Candies and other sugar-packed foods were scarce and tasted horrible. But how has that affected how much we eat?
Imagine being a young child walking into a chocolate museum where chocolate lines the walls, you can create your own one of a kind candy bar, thousands of different types of chocolates, and chocolate bars line the walls.

"Sunday Candy," a short film written by Chancellor Johnathan Bennett also known as Chance The Rapper is not only a dedication to his late grandmother, but is also a showcase of his artistic abilities beyond rhyming over an arrangement of instruments, sounds, and tempos. Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment deliver an easily relatable song and appear in this amusing short film directed by Austin Vesely, Ian Eastwood and Chance The Rapper. With an engaging video setup, the use of unconventional instruments, and thought-provoking lyrics, Chance The Rapper allows the viewer to sense the warm, exuberant, and maternal spirit of his grandmother and gives the viewer a understanding of how these feelings and memories continuously influence his life.

I am sure we have all seen or heard about taffy. What I would think would come to mind to most people when I would say something regarding taffy might be something concerning saltwater taffy. I love saltwater taffy. It seems that it is not in great supply around here. The only place I know of is somewhere like the cracker barrel. Needless to say I never go to cracker barrel, and it is a little more than I feel comfortable spending on candy. So I find myself resorting to a childhood favorite, laffy taffy. It is sold everywhere, and it is very inexpensive. I really started to like it when I played baseball as a kid. After the game I would always try to pump mom or dad for a few cents to stock up. It never made it home. I would somehow eat my entire entire stockpile. Whoever came up with the idea of putting jokes inside the wrapper is a very rich man. I could not help but to try to unwrap one more. The way the jokes where printed on the wrapper was very smart too. They would put one joke half way on the wrapper so it made me want to know the end of the joke, genius really.
Founded in 2000, Cocoa Delights is one of the youngest gourmet chocolate manufacturers in the industry. However we do not view our youth as a weakness, on the contrary, our youth is associated with our two most valued attributes: creativity and innovation.
It was my birthday. Two things that I never thought would happen. One was me getting a chocolate lab I named Hazel, the second was losing a loved one. These two thing happened on one day that I will love and hate for the rest of my life.
