I have not been to many concerts in my life, so I did not know what to expect when I went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert last month. A few years ago, I saw Celine Dion in concert and was very impressed by her beautiful stage, the infallible theatrics of her performers, and the wardrobe changes. I expected the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert to be similar, but it was nothing like that at all. Concerts can vary in considerable ways; everything from the stage set up, performance, and the audience can completely change the concert goers experience.
The Celine Dion concert had a very elaborate stage with beautiful props and decorations. Each seemed to magically change to match every new song she sang. I was expecting a comparable lay out at the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. Their concert, however, was just the opposite. While waiting for Lynyrd Skynyrd to perform, I noticed that the stage was sparse and unimpressive. The only thing that really caught my eye was a baby grand piano on the left side of the stage. The other items on stage were just typical musical instruments that you would expect to see at any rock concert. The only thing that changed throughout the concert was a cheap backdrop that would occasionally change to fit the song.
As Celine came out on stage and started to perform her first song, everything was choreographed perfectly. Celine, her band, and her backup dancers, impeccably executed each song. The Las Vegas style influence on her show was undeniable. Obviously, she and
Never have I ever attended a performance like this without my parents dragging me against my will. The only other time I have ever attended a concert of this nature is when my parents force my sister and I to go to the local opera house every year on Memorial Day to honor our troops and watch a couple boy scouts earn the title of eagle scout. Honestly, because I have only been to these types of concerts against my will, I did not know what to expect. I was extremely stressed out about what was appropriate to wear and how early I should show up, without my mother’s time schedule, I was more than just figuratively lost. I did not pick this concert because I was interested, I simply picked a concert that I could attend without any conflicts to my class and practice schedules and went for it.
The immersion into two different styles of music was very exciting. I enjoyed each of the concerts due to the sheer diversity I experienced. The Beyoncé concert was, of course, more familiar to me. The energetic performance and dancing by Beyoncé and her troop of dancers were particularly captivating which an actual trademark of Beyoncé concerts. The concert featured her performing a couple of singles which varied slightly in style too. The concert is a perfect illustration of modern pop music. The concert by the Croatian Baroque Ensemble was different. I am not an enthusiast of classical music so it was nice for a change. The performance featured a group of performers clad in black. There was virtually no movement around the stage and the
experience for me. It was far different from a rock concert held in some big
When I got to the bar around 8:00 pm, it was still early because the concert was supposed to start around 9:00 pm, but two of the musicians were starting to get to the place and setting some instruments up. By around 8:40 pm, the four musicians now all together in the inside part of the bar started to set up their instruments, drums, keyboard, guitars and some maracas, as well as speakers and microphones, also people got seated inside with their wine glasses or beers and some food that is also offered in the bar. I sat in the middle of the concert in a little with my friend, so I could have a great view of the performance, watch every detail
Now, in an era where anyone can use the internet to find free music, live concerts should rely more on talent, not less. Good live concerts are still great experiences. If a singer is actually singing live, fans get to hear his or her raw, unedited performance. The pure power of a singer on stage sets live shows apart from the tuned and tweaked perfection of a recorded track. However, the prevalence of lip-syncing often turns casual music fans away from pop concerts. People are even still more likely to drop money to see old-fashioned rock bands live than current pop singers. Four of the top five best-attended concert tours in the 2010s have been for rock groups. The only exception is Madonna, who has been performing for decades. No Taylor Swift or One Direction here. Instead, older rock acts like U2, Roger Waters, AC/DC, and Bruce Springsteen have the highest attendance for their tours, proving that rock still endures as the most popular genre to see live. These sales illustrate how the quality and authenticity of a performance remain more important for concert-goers than the flashy facades that popstars use to market
Before the concert started I noticed that there were a lot of cars out in the parking out and I knew that there was probably going to be a ton of people out in the audience. I was able to move and roam about the park freely while listening to the concert. There were people sitting in the seats close by the stage and others sitting on the ground in the grass area. I like how the stage is set up because it is easy to see the performers from a far distance and everyone is not so closely seated together. Thankfully the weather was nice that night. I was able to enjoy the location I was seated in. The outdoor venue is a great place to have a concert especially during the summer or when the weather is perfect, it just makes the concert experience much more fun
Concerts contain so many sensations. The white chairs being put away, the stage getting placed back on the big black trailer piece by piece, and the quiet shuffles of the last feet leave the stadium; the stadium transforms into the purple and white stadium it once was, leaving no
The symphony concert was a lot different from what a pop concert feels like, or even from the concerts we used to put on in high school. The parents were always antsy, and they clapped in any break in the music. You could hear phones going off, people coughing and talking. Pop concerts have people standing and dancing. This was a much more refined, elegant experience. No one spoke audibly during the performance, people held in their coughs until the breaks in the music. No one clapped between movements. The demeanor of the people on stage was also poised. Everyone looked like they had a purpose, and they did. The setup on stage was so that the percussion and wind instruments were in the back, the strings in the middle, and the piano was in
There is always a significant difference between each group; you have the die-hards who are there to have fun, to the forced ones, who are just there with their friends and nothing more. In between those, you have the critics, the groupies and the frat boys. Depending on the concert, or the band playing, I can categorize myself in two of the groups; I have been the die-hard fan, and I have also been the forced one, on the other hand, I can thankfully say that I have never been categorized into the frat boy, groupie, or the critic group. Every group here will make your concert experience a good one; even if they seem annoying. They may seem annoying in the moment, but days to years later, they will make a great story to tell to
“Time becomes a stutter-the space between drumbeats, splintered into fragments, and endlessly long, as long as soaring guitar notes that melt into one another…I am wave: I am pulled into the everything” (Oliver, Lauren). Many will never forget the way they feel when they hear one of their favorite artist plays their favorite song, live. Concerts are truly amazing; whether you go by yourself, in the mosh pit, or just hanging on the outermost parts. I've been to 4 concerts since freshman year. My first concert was Bring Me the Horizon. That was the first time I really felt that rush in my body, everyone jumping around, singing their hearts out. This is when I realized concerts are where you let loose, people are rarely pay attention to each other but more so on the
A few Saturdays ago I went to Bayside Miami to watch a life band playing. Personally I do not enjoy going to concert. I do not like big crows, and I dislike the fact in most concerts, one has to listen to just one artist’s songs. I do not know the name of the band playing at the Marina Stage in Bayside, so I will refer to it as the Bayside
There is no thrill better than the live entertainment enchanting the audience and creating a relaxing yet fun atmosphere. Music is the best form of expression and the choice of right band, singers, and musicians can mark the success of any event or a party.
Three years ago, I embarked on a quest. Something I thought would not happen until I was in my early twenties. Around that time, I experienced my first ever concert. A concert that will forever be relieved through my memory vault for the rest of my life in a such a vivid and breathtaking way that it is almost as if I can recount it as if it happened yesterday. Also, it was my first time going to such event by myself without the comfort of friends or family. A true experience that changed the way I view concerts, and it changed my perspective on how to act in such a public setting.
For my concert review, I decided to go to a small performance by Jay Blues Band at a local pub and brewery, Titanic Brewery. This performance took place on Friday, November 11, 2016 and started at 10:00PM. The pub provided a simple, intimate setting for the band and it fit perfectly with the vibe. Most of the audience seemed to be young adults mixed with a few middle-aged groups here and there. With the bar being a good place for people to hang out and enjoy the night, I feel that the venue did a great job of setting the tone for the night. The stage was set at the front of the restaurant where everyone could see but it wasn’t distracting to people who were simply looking to enjoy some music during their night with friends. Overall, the audience’s response to the band was very positive. A lot of the people stayed until the end of though show even though they were done with their food and drinks. Also, it was a receptive audience as people would clap or cheer for the multiple solos coming from each of the band members. Personally, I loved the set up because I was able to sit at the bar, talk with my friends and watch the show with no problem. It allowed me to be comfortable while taking in the concert, which I thought was much better than being on a crowded floor. Another benefit of the intimate setting was that I was able to speak with the lead singer and guitarist of the band after the show. This was a great experience for me as I got to ask him about how he got into
Basically what I want from a concert is for a band/artist to have a unique artistic sound/presence and for that band to deliver it to the best of its abilities on stage. If it 's a fun band, then I want them to engage the audience and be spontaneous. If it 's a quiet band then I don 't expect that. Similarly, if it 's a rough band then I don 't expect to hear the album played note-for-note. I want to feel like I’m at a concert, not listening to the radio. I want to feel the passion and emotion flow from the stage. I expect to get lost in the sound, and feel joy for no reason at all. The setting of the area is what I can’t wait to see. Lights flashing would be crazy to see, even in different colors from the ground to the ceiling. I want to see some jamming and rolling around on stage and some spontaneity, and some stretching out of the music of the songs.
