Journal Two DREAMS
I remember having dreams and when I have had them they were very interesting, and I wander why. 1 Reading the text book, it says most people dream four to five times a night, but not all people remember their dreams upon awakening in the morning. Non-dreamers are often surprised by their dreams when they first awake. (Dennis Coon, 2016). 1 How meaningful are dreams? Some theorist believe that dreams have deeply hidden meanings. Others regard dreams as nearly meaningless. 2 Yet others hold that dreams reflect our waking thoughts, fantasies and emotions(hartmann,2011). I also looked up on the Dream Bible which I never knew that these sites exist, so it was very interesting reading the different sites. 3 The dream Bible says
Throughout history, numerous people have studied the human body and its many functions. One area of the body that causes much confusion and controversy is the mind. Many parts of the brain baffle scientists, but a specific aspect of the mind that is fascinating and puzzling is dreams and their functions. It is surprising that an average person dreams for at least six years of their life, but scientists still do not know the role of dreaming (Shaw). Several theories have been presented to provide a reason for dreaming, and attempt to explain what most do not understand. Although dream research has been prominent lately, no agreement has been reached on which theory is correct on the purpose of dreams. Some believe that dreams are only
People forget ninety present of all dreams. Sleep can produce a state of unconsciousness were the mind and brain apparently turn off the functions. Some people even have premonition dreams where they dream about something is going to happen. Like when Abraham Lincoln dreamed of his assassination and many victims of nine eleven had dreams warning them. So it seems that dreams try to warn you and get you ready. Showing the dreams-for-survival theory explains why people have dreams and why they are important.
The darkened windows reflected the glaring glow of the jeep headlights as Chloe pulled up close to the cabin. She’d completely lost track of time at Rosie’s, and it was a little past midnight by the time she arrived back home.
A series of thoughts, images, and sensations that occur during a person’s mind during the time that they sleep is known as a dream. Dreams go way back until the beginning of mankind, even to the BC era during the time that Egyptians and Greeks were the leading force! The Egyptians examined the meanings behind the dreams we have and analyzed the symbols. There are a numerous amount of reasons behind our dreams. People must ask all the time, what is the reasoning behind dreaming? Why do we dream? What is the meaning behind the dream I had? In an average lifetime, approximately six years is spent dreaming. Every single person on this planet dreams and just because one might not remember doing so, it was still done. One might have several dreams occur throughout a normal night of sleep that lasts from about seven to eight hours. Everyone has dreams and each experience is distinctive and personal. Some can contain vivid pictures or memorable illustrations of reality and others can be unreal or abstract. In a way, they all have certain meanings to them and there can be messages hidden that are trying to tell someone something. An abundant amount of people are always curious as to why they dreamed what they did and spend time looking for those answers.
Dreams have many meanings some come in various different forms. Some dreams have very deep meanings while others are just simply a product of your imagination. For example some people experience Deja Vu. Deja Vu is when you have a dream of something and then it comes to life. People who have had Deja Vu have been very surprised. A dream is a product of your imagination some are just entertaining while others might be viewed as life lessons. Some dreams have deeper meanings into them, you just have to look for them. For example some people have been having dreams of going to a certain place then the next morning they end up in the same exact place. When you arrive at the place you will have a certain feeling like you have been here before then you will remember that your dreamed about it. Dreams have so much to to do with your imagination but some are no product of your imagination but a product of reality. Dreams have many meanings they might be good, bad, and scary ,whatever they are they are still a product of you. Likewise In Bless Me Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya, Antonio’s dreams, thoughts, and actions help identify who he is and what he is meant to be . There are several examples of Antonio finding
Everyone in the world has had at least one dream in their lifetime. Most people do not think much about the dreams that they have, unless they are recurring. Dreaming is “a series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during REM sleep.” Most people today wake up from a dream or nightmare saying, “thank god that was a dream,” or “too bad that was just a dream.” Many times these dreams or nightmares have more meaning than we may think. If people took more time to consider the meaning behind the dreams they have, then dream interpretation could be used as a means to help resolve issues in our awaken lives, including helping to
Everyone in the world has had at least one dream in their lifetime. Most people don’t think much about the dreams they have, unless they are recurring. Most people today wake up from a dream or nightmare saying, “thank heaven that was a dream,” or “too bad that was just a dream.” Many times these dreams or nightmares have more meaning than we think.
Have you ever had a dream that you wish you could understand the meaning? Many cultures across the world delve deep into the mystery of human dreams. To many ancient cultures dreams were windows to other worlds as well as past lives. Many people felt the need to understand their dreams because they felt that it would directly affect their lives.
Most of us have at one time or another experienced a dream, be it a nightmare or a pleasant walk in a forest. Either way, it was always believed that dreams encompass a coded message that might be expressing our hidden wishes, things that happened in the past or even predict the future. In the past, there have been many attempts to unravel the secret hidden behind the dreams and so far the world came up with three main theories of interpreting the dreams (Freudian, Jungian and Cognitive)(Wade, Travis 1998). In this essay I will attempt to analyze my dream by using each of the theories mentioned above, then compare the outcomes as well as their possible connections to my life and in the end determine, which one of these theories is the most
Dr. Robert Stickgold believes that an individual’s dream is formulated in a web of memories; memories that individual’s do not have clear access to during wakeful times and therefore, dreams can be a view of our unconscious. Dreams contain more of what the brain finds most essential, which could be something an individual spent the majority of a day thinking about, or something meaningful happening just prior to going to bed according to Dr. Stickgold. Moreover, Dr. Stickgold admits that our dream’s may also be the brain’s way of searching for ways to connect the complex webs of an individual’s memory, but it is not likely that our dream’s content actually fits with an individual’s beliefs or feelings. Dreams can definitely help an individual
Have you ever wondered why we dream? Or what it might mean? Or how about just, what is a dream? Well, dreams aren’t meaningless. In fact, they are the brain’s way of trying to process the events that happened throughout the day (Shamsian). Dreams help us understand our emotions (Shamsian). People think that their dreams are “both omens and insights to their own psyches” (Obringer). Dreams aren’t just something the brain makes up to entertain you at night. They mean something and it’s usually about your emotions (Shamsian).
Dreams have occurred for many years, and still stay a mystery. In both Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece, dreams were considered messages from gods that would be interpreted by dream interpreters so people can act according to what the gods wished. However, as generations developed, dream interpretation was ignored and finally revived in the 19th century when many books were published, mostly explaining dreams. Throughout those books, many attitudes were shown based on how the author felt about dream interpretation. Similarly, in two texts, The Mysterious Test, and What’s in a Dream? The History of Dream Interpretation, both authors have similar attitudes toward dream interpretation. Both authors feel that dreams relate to your good actions
Dreams have been around as long as the first civilization came to be and have been a normal part of human existence. One third of your life is spent sleeping, and of that third, on average you will have spent a total of about six years of it dreaming. Most people dream on average two hours every night, but you can have anywhere from four to seven dreams in one night. According to research, the most common setting for a dream is in your own house. In our dreams we can do anything we want and be whoever we want to be. Our dreams are an escape from reality. While we dream we are unable to control our actions and choose our surroundings. We let our minds take over. Sometimes dreams can be understood in the context of repressed thoughts. Dreaming serves as an outlet for those thoughts and impulses we repress during the day. When we go to sleep at night and slip into our dream state, we feel liberated and behave in a manner that we do not allow ourselves to in our everyday life. Visions and ides can come from your dreams. Often, authors, screenwriters, and even poets turn to their dreams for inspiration. The think quest oracle library goes on to tell about the most well-known of the modern dream
Dreams have been around since the beginning of time. There is often controversy over whether or not dreams are important or meaningless. Although many people believe that dreams are pointless and have no meanings to them, research and experimentation show that there can be many different interpretations of dreams.
Monday, march 18th,8:15 am. I woke up this morning to the usual sounds of the blue birds chirping and the ray of the warm sun shine through the window onto my face. And the same old view of New York City. I walked out of my bedroom and went to say goodbye to my husband Michael downstairs by the door before he leaves for work. “Kimberly don’t forget to wake up poppy ’’he said. “Okay love you’’i said. He shuts the door furiously as he leaves for work . I have a 3 year-old daughter named Penelope but we call her poppy for short like the flower. I gave birth to her just after my mother died and my mother 's favorite flower was a poppy. Since Poppy has never met her grandma we decided that her nickname would be Poppy so she will always
