Bishnu Khatiwada Classroom learning vs online learning Development in the education sector has given people many choices of learning to meet their educational goals. The current and popular systems of learning are classroom learning and online learning. I used to think all ways of learning are the same, until I had taken a couple of classes and had to overcome some challenges classroom learning and online learning are different in terms of support network, quality of peer interaction, decision - making, and success Having a support network is a useful tool for achieving success. Many students cannot succeed in learning because they face challenges of finding the right resources that are available to them. There are many resources available on campus and they are organized in such a way that they are easy to access like campus tutoring centers for different subjects, reading club, on-campus library, and different student organizations that are available to assist them. For example, whenever students have trouble understanding any course material, they have an opportunity go to the tutoring center and seek help. However, it is very hard to get those resources available to leaners who take online courses. Whenever students have trouble understanding the assignment, they need to rely on email conversations to solve the problem and don’t know when their teacher is going to get back to them. It can be very frustrating. One of my friends shared his experience taking an online course for math, and it was very difficult to understand the course materials with tutorials video. He told me about his experience stocking in the middle of the assignment was approaching was huge problem to overcome and maintain grade. Quality peer interaction is important for all human beings, cannot imagine life without any interaction. Classroom can be good place to meet a new people from diverse backgrounds, even from a different culture. Meeting people we can share common interest, learn about new culture

This article has given me a whole new perspective to this online learning experience. Through the group assignments and class participation, online learning generates relationships amongst peers and instructors and allows us as the students to value each individual student’s walks of life under the same subject. This online course will prepare me to become the educator that I need to be when dealing with the different diversities with the students, parents,
This section of the encyclopedia talks about what students and teachers can contribute to online learning environment. When making a decision to participate in online learning, there are numerous decisions that must be made by the participant. It is important to read the syllabus to establish timelines for reading and completing assignments in a timely manner. Having the option of working with others in learning communities can afford opportunities to share ideas and collaborate with other learners. Nagel, Blignaut & Cronje, (2007) talked extensively about the establishment of an online community as a prerequisite
I’ve experienced the differences between online school and traditional public school. The classroom setting was not a good fit and was very distracting. It was extremely difficult for me to learn and receive the proper information I needed to do well. I was unable to learn because of the fast pace, I and often had difficulty paying attention and keeping up with the assignments. However, the motivation the teachers gave me was tremendously helpful while I was
When deciding to take college courses there are many choices you have to make. One of the more important choices is where you plan to take your classes. Online classes are becoming increasingly popular because they can be easier to fit into a busy schedule, but some people still argue that nothing beats a traditional classroom setting. Having the option of online classes makes continuing an education more appealing to people that have to balance many other responsibilities like family, jobs, etc.
Which type of learning is better, traditional or online? As we all know, attending a college or university is nothing new. For the longest time the biggest issues for students were which school to attend and how to pay for it. However, with new and constant developments in modern technology these students are faced with a new problem: which type of learning is better, traditional or online? Students are not the only ones dealing with this dilemma; schools are also presented with the same issue. Not only do schools have to be concerned with which type of learning is best for their students but also which type of
In today’s society, so many people are continuing their education beyond high school. We realize that in order to make a decent living, a degree is most likely a requirement. In some cases even a bachelor’s degree is not enough to qualify for many positions. Nevertheless, thanks to technology, we now have the option to learn online or in a traditional classroom setting. There are very few differences between the two, and students need to understand that as much time and energy will need to be devoted to the online courses as on a campus. “A 2010 meta-analysis and review of online-learning studies concluded that online learning was as good as or slightly more effective than traditional face-to-face instruction” (Mendenhall, 2011).

During high school, there was an online program called Desire to Learn (D2L). It was this program where student can access all their assignments, submit excerise and course material. It also provides assistance about how to build a resume/cover, post-secondary, and many more. Some skills that are needed to be successful when learning online are organization, knowing what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. Independence, knowing what you’re mainly alone completes the assigned work. Also, self-regulation, trying to digress and venture off into the social media environment by taking a 5 minute break, which turns in a 10 minute, then 30 mins and so on and in the end not completing or rushing to complete the work.
However, advocates of classroom learning believe the online method isolates the students from one another as well as their professor minimizing the overall value of taking the course. They also claim that students learn better when working together with their instructor and their fellow classmates. Students learn better when they are given the opportunity to ask questions, join in class discussions, and they move the process of learning forward through their participation. Face-to-face advocates firmly believe that this kind of interaction is not possible over the Internet; and for many types of education, e-learning will never meet the potential of live human interaction in the classroom. An article in the New York Times titled, “Second Thoughts on Online Education,” backs up the points made above. A recent research published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, comes to the conclusion; “A rush to online education
Learning is more than just receiving information. Technology is changing every aspect in our lives, even the way we learn. Online classes are a rapidly growing trend it today’s society. Online classes are a cost-effective substitute for traditional courses and more convenient for many, so more schools and universities are offering this option. Due to the increase in online course enrollment, people are questioning if students truly learn something from online classes because it’s not a traditional learning environment. Online classes are just, if not more, effective as traditional classes because grades have increased and online discussions provide students with the chance to interact through networking while earning a degree for less than what it would cost to enroll at the same university.
Education has undergone significant changes because of the development of information and communication technology over the 21st century (Lin & Jou, 2012:2). As a convenient and inexpensive way to gain knowledge while pursuing higher education, online learning, a form of training or teaching that takes place over the Internet, has been considered as an alternative to traditional classroom learning (Zhang et al, 2004). Taking an online course can help a student accomplish anything they would like to do that is education related, such as getting ahead in certain classes, finishing high school early, or maybe even college. Another plus to taking courses online is being able to work at your own pace. Researchers are finding that the slowest student takes five times as long to learn as the fastest (“Online Classes”).
