Wow, this is a tough question since many of the blogging sites are now considered social networking sites. Since I love to read, my 2 choices are Goodreads and Wordpress, I hope I am understanding the question correctly. Goodreads formatting process begins with determining which devices you will use to access their websites and widgets are assigned based on the book genres you choose. From this point you are able to access favorite authors or subjects of choice and read reviews by others (professional and personal) to determine whether or not book choices are to your liking. The reason that I love this site is because you have access to your favorite authors and are able to give and receive direct feedback to them. Worpress is one of the
Social networking sites allow people to communicate and remain in contact with friends as well as meet new people. These sites allow people to find others with similar interests that they can create a relationship with and get to know one another. Groups can be joined or formed to meet people with similar interests, and views. Social networking allows for creative expression by using tools such as blogging and messaging to post ideas and stories (Claywell). Users can also share poems, music, TV shows, hobbies, photos, and many other things. Social networking is undisputedly one
Nakamura is identifying that as a multidimensional construct, the New Yorker iPad version has failed on multiple dimensions. Instead of supporting uptake, it only supports a passive experience. The New Yorker iPad version does meet the exigence of its public. Likewise it does not support turning media into a commodity, because it does not easily allow for content to be reproduced or transferred (Miller 68). In contrast Nakamura describes Goodreads successfully functioning as a multidimensional construct. She gives the example of the Goodreads app, which has “a barcode reader to facilitate user’s entering of books into their virtual bookshelf[ves],” the platform also “automatically generates invitations to existing friends on” Goodreads, which you can share these shelves with (Nakamura 239-240). The Goodreads app clearly mediates well between its intention and its public’s exigence, as it makes using the site and uptaking books easy. Likewise the sites content can be easily reproduced or transferred, through the sharing of bookshelves, or by taking actions like commenting, ranking, or replying to bookshelves, people, or books (Nakamura
First up, you'll notice that there is now a home page for the site. The first thing you're going to see is a Slider featuring any review I deem worthy of checking out. Below the slider is the three latest reviews, which can be Blu-ray, Movie or Book reviews. Click on View More and it will take you to a normal blog style layout of all the reviews:
The blogs that I follow are Designing a room because I have an interest in creativity, decoration like creative things. The other blog is related with cooking. On my spare time I enjoy cooking and trying different types of foods. The reason for following these blogs is because of the specific content they produce. And my blog is not related with a specific theme, so if I decided to do a blog
Underline, dog ear, scribble in the margin: these are all tactile ways of interacting with a book. They are also gestural, and gestures are linked with deep-level cognition.
A book’s cover catches your eye. You flip it over, glancing at the synopsis as your eyes slowly move to the bottom of the hardcover, reading the small lettering, “‘Compelling...Brilliant [and] insightful.’- Chicago Tribune”. Okay, well you understand what popular publishing companies think of this novel, but what about other readers like you and me? Goodreads is a place where your everyday readers can go to read reviews and others’ thoughts on a specific book you may be considering.
For those who haven't heard of Goodreads, imagine the world's largest book club, social networking site, book recommendation machine all in the same place. Goodreads is a place where readers can share what books they have read, discover new books, learn more about books, and the
The distinction between “book” and “street” smart are important. Important because you can not just study all day and not experience life, nor can you experience life and encounter everyday struggles and not study or read a book. There has to be a balance of the two. Both being very important as we read “The hoods would turn on you if they sensed you were putting on airs over them: “Who you looking at, smart ass?” as a leather-jacketed youth once said to me as he relieved me of my pocket change along with my self-respect.” If Graff would have experienced the life in the “hood” he would have known that they do not like to be put down or hear you are doing better than they are. Growing up in the Bronx, New York I know how it is like to grow
In the human evolutionary process, people own a pairs of eyes which is sensitivity to space, so the context of book fill in with the iconic things and picture will make the reading process from "remember" to "understand" and transform to knowledge. When reading process happen, the segment is close to the header or footer, the page number is on the left or on the right side, is there is a picture beside the text, these elements seemingly unrelated, but it actually has a great help on memorize the context.
WordPress is the most popular blogging program in use, partly because of the handiness of widgets and plugins for true customization. WordPress widgets work together with themes and plugins to liberate your creativeness and will empower you
I love to read. Reading for me is relaxation. At times, it pertains to my job or my education, but it has always been something I enjoy doing. Do I purchase a book to read in hard copy or do I download to my reader. I am a traveler, so my Kindle makes my reading so much more convenient. Also there are books where I just want to read for fun, and probably never pick up again, so why should I purchase? I do not need to but every book I like, but I come from a family of book collectors. We cherish the printed material, not to “mark” up, but to have the shelves full of books that represent the world surrounding us. Some are the markers of where my parents took their lives when unable to travel; others are mementos of part of my family history. There are many pros and cons to the subject of E-Books to Bound books, one must decide for themselves their preference. It is just like asking the infamous question of whether one prefers Coke or

Kindle’s remediate books but improve certain features, inclusive of altering typography style and size, offering highlighting tools, built in dictionaries and allowing the reader to purchase new books through the device (Hitt 2013). Since its introduction in 2007, approximately 43.7 million Kindle e-readers have been sold as of late 2014 (Trefis Team 2014). The Kindle does not seek to replace physical books; rather it uses technological convergence to store dense digital information on small, portable physical spaces. This isn’t to say that new mediums have replaced older formats altogether; on the contrary, they have altered them to suit the change in how we communicate.
And books are a tactile experience, meaning they are supposed to be experienced through touch and smell (especially for the old books). A book is meant to be an experience that can have depressions and elevations on the cover and text, feeling the weight of the pages as you turn them and all of these elements when combined make a book what it is, but when you read an e-book you are exposed to digitized text and a screen. And it’s been proven that when people are exposed to screens of TVs or computers they are less likely to have a good night sleep. On a web poll about e-books vs. books one person commented, ‘I've tried reading a few e-books but I've always given up. I just don't like looking at digitized text when I'm reading a novel. I like the feel, the weight and even the smell of books,’ many of the following comments made by others agreed with this persons thoughts.
