Society today is so advanced that everything we do is constantly changing whether we realize it or not. Johannes Gutenberg was a goldsmith, publisher, and printer who introduced movable type and the printing press to Europeans. He invented his press around 1440 in the Holy Roman Empire. The introduction of the printing press marked the start of the Printing Revolution and allowed for increased diffusion of ideas throughout Europe. The printing press provided for the development of various intellectual movements throughout Europe after its invention. It also allowed for cheaper books and increased literacy among lower class Europeans.

Marc Presnky argues that college should ban the use of physical books to encourage the use of electronic books. He gives three reasons to support his argument. The author of the article “College Should Mandate That All Textbooks Be Digitized” states three main advantages of having a bookless higher education. He believes that society should move beyond “physical books of the past” in order to move “education into the future” (Presnky). By employing the use of digitized books, Presnky believes that people will have features not quickly available to physical books such as comments or analysis about a book. This advance was not made in the Dark Ages due to the Vikings ruling and trying to win the war. The Vikings invested their time inventing new weapons instead of inventing things for the future society. The printing press was developed by Johann Gutenberg after years of experimentation. This impacted the way people learnt as ideas and messages could be published and spread more easily and placed in libraries for people to read and learn.

These heroic figures from the Bible and The Odyssey have many similarities and differences that reflect the different cultures they are from. These heroes are called upon by greater beings, such as gods, to complete difficult journeys and or tasks that the god has made them destined to complete. Each of these legendary heroes demonstrates a particular culture’s needs. Through these journeys and or tasks they are forced to overcome challenging obstacles and make sacrifices.
