I would earnestly recommend this book to others. This book is about loving someone, not based on their appearance, but rather based on how they are as a person. Erik says, “I continued to refuse to let Tamara in to seem me. And then I wrote a long letter in which I told her I wanted her to be happy and go on with her life without me…The next morning I awoke to find her standing at the foot of my bed. “I love you,” she said.” This quote shows that while Erik refused to let Tamara see him because of his appearance, Tamara didn't care and she still loved him because of how he was as a person.
