The main character that was in my novel was a girl named Tris. When Tris picks her faction at the age of 16, she picks Dauntless. On page 47 it says, “I am selfish.” “I am brave.” Those words mean that she is very self-confident in herself. Tris grows in the Dauntless community with one of her new good old friends, Christina. On page 66, Christina shows a little of her spunky attitude by saying this, “Who’s that?” hisses Christina. I think that shows a lot of her spunk. The main conflict of this story is just to stay high in the rankings so you can at least survive. I mean, if this stories time was real, I would probably not be alive right now. Page 122 “sector” Denotative meaning- A division of a defensive position for which one military unit is responsible. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/sector) connotative meaning- a place or area or land that is owned by the government. Page 123 “dilapidated” Denotative meaning- Having fallen into a state of disrepair or deterioration, as through neglect; broken-down and shabby. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/dilapidated) connotative meaning- not treating people the way they should be treated. Page 175 “hobble” Denotative meaning- To walk or move along haltingly or with difficulty; limp. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/hobble) connotative meaning- not able to walk normally. The Point of View that I think Divergent used is First Person because Tris was the narrator, but she also shower thoughts and feelings and expressions towards other people. She made it sound and act like First Person. Veronica Roth, (the author) planned things very well for Divergent.
