The main character that was in my novel was a girl named Tris. When Tris picks her faction at the age of 16, she picks Dauntless. On page 47 it says, “I am selfish.” “I am brave.” Those words mean that she is very self-confident in herself. Tris grows in the Dauntless community with one of her new good old friends, Christina. On page 66, Christina shows a little of her spunky attitude by saying this, “Who’s that?” hisses Christina. I think that shows a lot of her spunk. The main conflict of this story is just to stay high in the rankings so you can at least survive. I mean, if this stories time was real, I would probably not be alive right now. That’s how tough it is to stay alive during this time. On page 253, it talks …show more content…

The Point of View that I think Divergent used is First Person because Tris was the narrator, but she also shower thoughts and feelings and expressions towards other people. She made it sound and act like First Person. Veronica Roth, (the author) planned things very well for Divergent. She made the story get to the point quickly, that you have to be brave to survive this time period. On page 175, she said on the first page of
Suzanne Collins, the author of The Hunger Games, imagines a world where people are divided by district just like the real world does with the high, middle, low classes. This book is full of themes, literary devices and also talks about how the government — in this case the Capitol — oppresses their citizens.
The Hunger Games novel written by Suzanne Collins reflects significant issues in the reality world nowadays which relate to the humanity, the poverty, the violence,… It describes the issues through the characters and what happens in the story, and the most significant issue occurs throughout the novel is the gap between rich and poor people. In the beginning of the novel, Suzanne Collins describes clearly the scene of the poverty, the terrible fear of the 12-district’s villagers, in contrast to the wealthy of the Capitol’s citizens. The inequality of social classes becomes the theme of the novel because of its relation and the effects to the plots of the story. And the reason, which leads to that issue, is the policies of the dictatorship
The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is because that main characters Noah and Allie go through so many trials and finally end up together in the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I now feel as if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better understanding of how lifespan development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of development was created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get passed them properly we will end up with
In simplified terms, James Madison defines a faction as a group of people who share common interests. He argued against political factions, calling them "dangerous [vices]"because they created problems between the majorities and minorities due to the lack of representation given to the minorities. He did, however, recognize that is would be impossible to completely demolish factions. It is against human nature to have everyone think the same way,
In his Federalist Paper 10, Madison refers to the word “factions” numerous times. A “faction” is a small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one in politics. Madison believes factions cause problems among other different factions because they the majority always wins. If Madison were alive today, he would see both political parties as factions. He would also view different unions and organizations as factions. In general, Madison would see any group which shares a common interest and works together to promote their community as a faction.
To Madison, there are only two ways to control a faction: one, to remove its causes and the
Octavia Butler’s novel Kindred is categorized as science fiction because of the existence of time travel. However, the novel does not center on the schematics of this type of journey. Instead, the novel deals with the relationships forged between a Los Angeles woman from the 20th century, and slaves from the 19th century. Therefore, the mechanism of time travel allows the author a sort of freedom when writing this "slavery narrative" apart from her counterparts. Butler is able to judge the slavery from the point of view of a truly "free" black woman, as opposed to an enslaved one describing memories.
The main character in the book Divergent is a girl named Beatrice. Beatrice is developed throughout the book by having to do things that push her out of her comfort zone. Beatrice was born in the faction of Abnegation, where everything is simple and alike. Abnegation values selflessness, but Beatrice doesn’t feel like she is selfless. She decides to change to the faction of Dauntless, who values courage. Beatrice has to do things like jump off trains, and fight people to show she is courageous. She decides to start going byTris, because Beatrice won’t fit in with the dauntless. When Beatrice makes the decision to be a dauntless she says “My fathers eyes burn into mine with a look of accusation’. This is because it was selfish of
The Hunger Games is the first book that makes up the famous trilogy written by Suzanne Collins. Katniss, the book’s main character, is a sixteen year old girl, who lives in Panem, a country divided in 13 different districts. Each year, a reaping is hold, where every district chooses one boy and one girl to participate to the games. The participants have to kill each other for their survival, and only one person can end up as a winner. Because of Katniss’ ingenuity and strategies, both tributes from her district were able to survive and get through this challenge. This world clearly relates to the reality television in our contemporary world and to the gladiator fights. This essay will analyse the different themes, which are used to convey
Have you ever wondered how life would be like if society was divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue ? What if you were different and did not belong in any of the given factions? Then you are a lot like Tris. Tris Prior is the main character in the dystopian novel Divergent, by Veronica Roth. In the novel ‘Divergent’ by Neil Burger, Beatrice Prior is born into an Abnegation family, She is now Sixteen this means that it is time for Beatrice to go take the aptitude test to see which faction she will belong in, there is five faction, Abnegation (for the selfless); Amity (The peaceful); Candor (Honest); Dauntless (Brave) and Erudite (Intellectual). When she takes the test her result is inconclusive for three factions: Abnegation,Erudite, and Dauntless. Fear: Divergent is much about fears and overcoming them. The dauntless members’ characteristic is courage, so they spend a lot of their trainings confronting them to eventually overcome them. Power: the author tries to explain how damaging power can be. In the book, the person with the most power is the one who is able to control everyone else. Therefore, power can drive people crazy and make them do things they normally wouldn’t do.
The book Four is apart of the Divergent collection. The narrator of the book is Tobias Eaton. He lives in a world where there are five different factions; Abnegation, Erudite, Candor, Dauntless, and Amity. He is from Abnegation and Marcus Eaton is his father and also the faction leader. Southern Gothic literature often incorporates its elements separately without any direct relationship between two of them, namely the grotesque and violence. While many of the Southern Gothic culture and literature explores these elements separately, there are cases where they simultaneously occur. Gillian Flynn is able to effectively incorporate both aspects individually before performing a crossover of the two in her novel Gone Girl. With the use of other aspects (economic downfall and mental instability) used in the Southern Gothic genre, she hints the issue regarding the marriage of the novel’s antiheroes, Nick and Amy Dunne, as they lead to the sheer ugliness (whether the gore is present or not) of their situations.
The entire group system is based around separating people up and creating diverse groups with limitations between them. Insurgent illustrates how these divisions generate an "us vs. them" attitude that eventually brings it to ruin. In this novel, schism also happen within these groups: Dauntless splits into faithful and conspirator, Abnegation is broken , Erudite imperfection from Jeanine and her following, and Johanna and other Amity tear from their section when they do not have the same point of view with the result to stay straightforward . These divisions are what eventually creates so much annihilation, and as Tris learns time and yet again that it is not possible to complete snooty goals when you are separated down in the center.
