Divorce is more common and much more socially accepted than it was fifty to one hundred years ago. Couples tend to divorce because it is easier than staying married and working through their problems. Most married couples thinking about divorce are so busy worrying about themselves that they fail to realize how large an impact their actions can have on their children and extended family.

On the other hand good can come from a divorce. The one, who divorce by consent from their partners, wants to have better quality of life, since they are unhappy with their spouses. Therefore they feel free to go out and do as they like. A divorce can get rid of some of the stress you may have had in the relationship which can be better for your physical and mental health.

I used myself as an example of effects on a woman of divorce. I have five children, was married three times, and divorced twice. The effects on myself were the same but I handled it better. Being divorced was scary at first because I had children to raise. I was depressed because I would find myself lonely at times and I started to question my worth. Divorce had its positive side for me also. It made me excited for the future and I was happy to get back to knowing myself. Not every divorce has the same effects that we experienced. Some people can’t find it in themselves to get over the divorce. Location can affect the divorce rate. The divorce rate is highest in the South. Divorce affects the state of mind of those involved, whether consciously or sub-consciously. A couple seems better off working out their problems rather than getting a divorce in the long run. I also believe that this becomes like an addiction or a bad habit-- the person remarries over and over again. This seems more than just ?bad luck??it is a psychological problem. It results from the way they saw their own parents in their upbringing. So, the couple that is getting divorced puts their child in the situation to learn and adopt the same ?bad habit.? All to often, people located in a poor marriage feel as if they are stranded and have no way of pursuing the relationship they so desire. This state of mind can proliferate into a poor mental state and such diseases as depression can manifest. Moreover, I have observed the consequences of a poor marriage without a divorce to fall back on. My aunt was basically forced to marry a man she did not want to be with on the ground of money.
