The premises and the conclusion for this paper states that if the Christian biblical scriptures, which the United States of America based their religious foundation on, mentioned in the Ten Commandments “thou shall not kill,” then it is morally wrong to abort a child for the following reasons. First, legalizing abortion is going against the scriptures, especially in Genesis, when the God instructed Adam and Eve to be fruitful and replenish the earth. So, decreasing the population of human beings on earth is not a good way to abide by the biblical word of God.
Another reason why legalizing abortion can cause more harm than good, is that the population starts to decrease, especially different minority ethnic group may end up depleted. The reduction
Nowadays, in this world, there are a lot of problems that can make tremendous conflicts for human beings. They are very complicated and bring a lot of argument and nobody knows what the exact answer is. They also have pros and cons. One of the most complex problems is abortion. This is due to moral and ethical values which we all have. The majority of us are Christians or are brought up in that kind of ambiance which means that as small children we were taught values that are based on the bible such as that famous phrase “Thou shall not kill”. This phrase relates to this topic because an abortion is the murder of a human being.
The essay has been arranged in four subsections biblical, medical, legal and philosophical arguments against abortion. Exemplification techniques through the use of facts and statistics is used to emphasize the point that author is trying to make. The author uses many logos techniques very effectively, often to make a point about the fetus being alive and being able to feel pain even at very early stages of life, so should not be destroyed. An example of this is seen in the line "If heartbeat was used to define life, then nearly all abortions would be outlawed" the deductive reasoning used makes conclusions about the fact that life exist even as a fetus and thus abortion is actually death of the fetus.
The pro-life stance on abortion is often associated with and defended by traditional Christian beliefs , ; however, this paper will argue that it can and should be defended with secular arguments that appeal to reason and our shared human condition. This paper will try and counter the notion that the argument is simply another battlefield where religion and secular thought meet. Rather, it is an important issue that carries with it heavy implications not only for the religious but also for the secular. The major arguments discussed include the emotional and physical toll on the mother, the societal toll of having abortion legalized, and the rights attributed to every human being; first, however, the stance
If all the following conclusions are acceptable then the conclusion of abortion being morally wrong is accepted. Each of these premises will be defended throughout this paper.
The procedure used for abortion is not only harmful to the baby obviously, but it can be dangerous for the mother both physically and mentally. Many of the risks of abortion include bleeding, infection, damage to organs, and sometimes even death but it is very rare (considering abortion). It is healthier for the woman to have birth than going through this dangerous procedure, and if the mother is not ready or does not want the baby, she can give it up for adoption. It is only fair to the baby to at least give it life to live with a family who adopts it than no life at all. After the abortion is over, women think that they are going to feel relieved to finally get this over with. For most women, this is not the case. After going through the procedure and seeing the baby get removed from their body, they almost always feel immediate regret. Seeing a dead baby the size of the palm of the doctor’s hand catches mothers off guard and traumatizes them and it should. Studies show that most women wish that they had known more about abortion before they got one (considering abortion). So, even though there are physical risks to abortion, the mental risks are the most harmful.
In Roe vs. Wade abortion was deemed not only legal but morally acceptable. One might be surprised to know that not only this decision but our entire outlook on life is influenced and shaped by a cultural ideology. These ideologies serve as a lense through which our entire life is tinted. While not all ideologies are destructive, the real harm is done when on can not identify it and evaluate its morals and principles individually. This paper will seek to explore how how secular humanism extends to abortion, why this is detrimental, and how Christianity provides a better ideology.
Consequently, ways this problem affects the world is that if you do choose to harm infants, then people might not accept you- or they will think of you differently and with no respect. Aborting children will only come back and haunt you later in life. There is no benefit to abortion.
The effect that the illegalisation of abortions would have would be devastating. It would encourage inexperienced, deceitful back-alley abortionists to open up shop and simply take away the business of the professional operators.
And to further develop upon this point, it is statistically proven that many unwanted babies do not have great lives. Obviously if a parent wants to get rid of the child, the parent is not going to be loving and nurturing towards the child. This leads to a slew of new children, oftentimes who are abused, without proper households to be raised in, which consequently has a wide impact across society. It has been statistically proven that most criminals come from homes that are destructive/ non-existent. Also, take a look at the increasing number of foster homes and orphanages that are being built in order to accommodate the growing number of children that cannot or will not be cared for. There are approximately over 500,000 children residing in foster care in the U.S. alone; these children lack the support and care that a regular family would provide. If abortions were to become illegal, the number of homeless children would exponentially increase from the already staggering number of children.
Now let’s turn to the cons of keeping abortion legal. Abortion is murder. The killing of an innocent human being that has yet to even be born is wrong. By the US government, unborn babies are considered human beings. Life begins at conception. With that being said, unborn babies are human beings, just like you and I, with a right to life. “Young adult women who undergo abortion may be at increased risk for subsequent depression.” (Pedersen) People need to take responsibility for their actions. Along with that comes consequences. If a woman becomes pregnant, she needs to accept that responsibility. Along with that comes producing a child. Unborn babies should not be punished for the actions and mistakes made by adults. If a woman is not ready to take on the responsibility of being a mother, then there is always adoption. With legalizing abortion, that sends a message all over, even to our youth, that human life has little or no value. Killing an unborn child for convenience is immoral and women should not be allowed to use abortion as a contraceptive method. Human beings born with disabilities, abnormalities, or physical limitations do not make them less human. Therefore,
Abortion is a widely discussed topic that has opened a moral debate on whether it should, or not, be allowed. The purpose of this paper is to analyze a case study which will be addressed from a Christian based worldview. Additionally, since abortion is a controversial subject, it is necessary to take into account the potential resolutions of the issue, and how they can be contrasted to Christian values and core beliefs.
As we think about this idea that is spreading throughout the world, most of us won’t think that there are any positive sides or benefits of taking human’s life away. Besides the bad sides of it, there are various costs that are not even coming because of abortion if we look in term of human life and well-being. A lot of people go for it because of the costs that they will have after the baby is born. In the process, you free society from the long-term engenderment and influence of a starkly unique human being (The Cost of Life, 2004).An issue that it might cause is the decrementation of the number of population (The Cost and Consequences of Abortion, 2009). There is nothing big that can make people to make their steps to this.
Abortion is very harmful to women both physically and emotionally, it can easily to cause infection or hemorrhaging, and may also cause infertility, or lifelong regret.
to lead their lives, as God wants them to. If a Christian were to turn
Abortion has become a common argument topic in America; numerous individuals consider themselves pro-life and others pro-choice. Those who consider themselves pro-life oppose abortion, while those who are pro-choice advocate for abortion to be legalized. I believe that abortion should be illegal and that life should be recognized upon conception.
