Domestic violence is a misdemeanor that takes place all over the world. Domestic violence is the physical, emotional, verbal, and/or sexual abuse of an intimate partner or family member. A person who goes through domestic violence tends to not say anything about the abuse because there is fear that the abuser could kill him/her for saying something. Unfortunately, I went through domestic violence for two years. At first, I was terrified to talk about it and even write about it but I got the strength to share my story, because I knew there could be someone who could be going through the same thing. A little bit of my story will be incorporated in the three sociological perspectives which are; the conflict theory, functionalism and symbolic interactionism. The conflict theory is described as society is in a state of eternal conflict and there is competition for resources. According to the conflict theory, a person who possess more resources in the relationship often leads to domestic violence. About three years ago, when I was with my abusive boyfriend I noticed that he got his abusive behavior from his older brother. One night, when we went out for dinner one of the servers told me I looked beautiful, of course my boyfriend heard and he grabbed my hand and took me right home. I was terrified. He was calling me nasty names in the car, he made me feel disgusting and he even grabbed my arm until I couldn’t move it anymore. Domestic violences arises from the family itself and the learning institutions as well, such as schools. If the abuser grows up with violent behavior they will believe that it is okay for them to act that way. Which fails on the family to appropriately execute the roles of society, and if the schools fail to offer basic education about violence the students fail to understand
