“Aliens” is a song about one of the biggest issues that has arisen during the 2016 presidential election race. Donal Trump is by far the most recognizable name of all the presidential hopefuls. One of his platforms early on in his campaign was that there needs to be something done about the immigrant workers who have tried to make a living in the United States. He claims that Mexican immigrants, or aliens, as they are legally recognized, are the root of some of the biggest problems in the country. For example, he claims that they must be dealt with because they are thieves, rapists, and killers. He proposes that they and all of their children be removed from the country and a giant wall built along the border to keep them out. The racism in
The United States government hides aliens from the citizens. They hid area for as long as they possibly could and still refuse to allow us any insight as to what is within. They claim sightings are military testing’s or that what some saw was never there. Looking at our technological advancements over the past few decades how could this be possible.
This song is a wakeup call for America to set a better example for the next generation. People are hurting other people. Some are paranoid of what will happen next. Life should not be scary, but there are people afraid to walk out and be among the chaos. Everybody is against one another, and they are not willing to compromise. “It’s time we stop” and look at what we are doing and what has become of us. There are wars for ignorant reasons, there are people hurting, there are innocent children watching, WAKE UP AMERICA! The riots and wars are not worth all of this pain and suffering.
In Joseph Carens’ article, “Aliens and Citizens: The Case for Open Borders,” he insists on open borders. He claims that this idea of free movement has moral roots in which every human being deserves freedom and equality. In his article, Carens applies his argument by refuting three political theories of Robert Nozick, John Rawls and utilitarians. Carens addresses Robert Nozick’s theory by recognizing a common objection towards immigration. Similar to John Locke, Robert Nozick believes that humans in the state of nature have natural rights including the right to property as individuals. However, most people view property rights as collective or national as seen by popular opinion that “It’s our country. We can let in or keep out whomever we want” (Carens 252). As a
The “disturbances of collective order” (Durkheim 1915, 246) or norms with spikes in unemployment and increased competition in labor market could have resulted in what Durkheim referred to as anomic suicide. People’s lives have been greatly impacted and they are uncertain of the future in America. Trump argues that immigrants pose a competition in labor market and he promised to bring jobs back for American workers or the White working class. It’s harder for them to live with the decline of jobs because in the old economic order, White workers have greater opportunities for growth. When their expectation of themselves in the society is threatened, Trump’s promise
What comes to your mind when you see a person and their sense of dressing and outspoken religious events? The passage we've read are tied to the topic of culture and our opinions on others culture as well as our own.The way each individual is raised changes their perspective on the world, on each other, and ourselves.
President Donald Trump’s immigration policy, now an Executive order, has been the topic of controversy since the order was signed on January 27th, 2017 (BBC.com). An improved order was again signed on March 6, 2017 (BBC.com). However, a case in the Supreme Court of USA will determine the future of the ban, which runs between October 2nd and December 21st (BBC.com). The first executive order banned people from seven countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, and Libya from entering the United States for a period of 90 days. It also put a halt on refugee resettlement for 120 days and banned Syrian refugees permanently (Park). However, as per the revised executive order issued on March 6th, Iraq was removed from the list and the
The United States population is growing each and every second. “Americans manage to accept 1.2 million legal immigrants into the United States annually. Continuing that mass immigration guarantees an added 100 million people to the United States by 2035” (Wooldridge, par. 6 ). Although this immigration benefits the growth of the American society, some argue to build a barrier to completely stop immigration. In Dr. John Tanton's essay entitled “International Migration” he asks, "What restrictions are appropriate to today's world?”(par. 8). America is the result of years of immigrants adding to the economic growth of the country, and without changes to immigration laws it will have a negative impact on the country’s future. The United States government
Growing up in a mexican household, the topic of immigration has always been around me. It’s a more personal topic, having family that have dealt with the hardships to the path to citizenship and some that are still dealing with it. Many people in society have become prone to believe that immigrants will take all of their jobs in the United States. But the truth is granting illegal immigrants citizenship could actually benefit our economy and benefit everyone worried about this problem.
Liz Mair’s article on Donald Trump, which blames Mr. Trump for the ugly state of the Republican Presidential nominee campaign, is a popular view of many political super PACs, political pundits, progressive organizations, and leftist leaning media outlets trying everything to end the political movement that has taken-hold in our country. The real issue is not entirely because of Mr. Trump actions, but instead the fact that he is an outsider to the Republican political establishment. In my opinion if Mr. Trump or any similar outsider to the Republican political establishment were to win the Republican nomination, the Republican establishment would consider that to be more disastrous than any Democrat winning the presidency, including Hillary
Music has always been an outlet to use to express oneself sorrows, desires, and to tell stories. Mexican Americans have used music for decades to represent and honor their Mexican roots and patriotism, but to also express their struggles in the United States. It’s a pleasant combination of pride, struggle, and the journey of a relatable pain. Stories that are always told with Regional Mexican music are that of “mojados” (wetbacks), undocumented immigrants, deportation, government corruption and drug cartels. One of the most famous Mexican bands to date is Los Tigres Del Norte. Los Tigres sing stories that are relatable to their fans and now with Donald Trump’s presidency it seems the band will have new material at the very least for the
Mexican-American corridos are songs that emerged due to the border changes and conflicts that arose in the middle of the nineteenth century. These songs were related to real people and events that encountered the oppression that was given to them. Overall, border corridos changed from being about “love and loss” to being about current border issues, entry of Anglo-Americans into Mexican territories, and other causes of tension between these two ethnic groups on opposite ends of the spectrum. (slides) The subject for the songs were known to have defied greater authority, have received help from the common
Under the new immigration enforcement policies of the Trump administration millions of people living in the United States illegally could soon be targeted for deportation. Any immigrant who is in the country illegally and is charged or convicted of any offense, or even suspected of a crime, will now be an enforcement priority, according to Homeland Security Department memos signed by Secretary John Kelly. Under the Obama administration, immigrants whose only violation was being in the country illegally were generally left alone.
For our new president, Donald trump it has already been a rough start in office and its only been a couple of weeks. There is not a lot of people that approve of how he’s handling is job already. The biggest action citizens disapprove of is the travel restrictions and most people say it is an attempt to ban Muslims from entering the US. Another action that is highly disapproved is “The Wall” which will be between the US and Mexico. The citizens of the US are very divided on whether this will make the US a safer place and protects us from terrorism. Most voters think President Trump’s executive order on immigration is better described as a restriction on terrorist than as a Muslim ban.
President Donald Trump's new immigration proposal will decrease legal immigration in the United States to levels that haven't been seen in nearly 100 years.
