In the world of politics, immigration has been a hot topic. Several cases have arised, detailing attacks, bombings, and other insipid acts of hate. However, should the whole of the population be responsible for the acts of the few? Several people believe that immigration, for one reason or another, should be stopped, our president included. One of Donald Trump’s first executive orders was to cease all immigration into the country for 90 to 120 days- Syrians are banned indefinitely. To add to the already heinous crime, Trump’s policy is to focus on Christian immigrants. This action is not only and odious, disgusting act, but it’s also illegal. The decision to enact the travel ban caused chaos on an …show more content…
Diplomats, on a mission to make pracr, all the sudden locked out of the country where they belong, not being able to see their friends or family for 120 days. Immigrants, who have been trying to start a new life in America for years, are suddenly denied access when they were so close to freedom. These immigrants gave up everything to get to America, just to have a chance to raise a family in a free space. A space free from the discrimination. Sadly, immigrants are suddenly denied access, leaving years of waiting for permits, and all the money spent behind. Trump has caused not only chaos, but an outrage. An outrage for the immigrants left poor. Left hungry. Left alone. The outrage against Trump’s travel ban is shared across the nation, between many people of many different backgrounds. For example, a 3 judge panel shot down the travel ban, calling for evidence linking the countries barred with terrorism. No solid evidence could be found. Another example is the rows upon rows of people who showed up to protest the travel ban. Estimates say that thousands of people showed up just to one protest, taking place in New
A Federal Judge temporarily barred Trump’s Executive Order concerning the travel ban. This has caused extreme controversy among American’s as topics such as immigration, refugees, vetting, and religion all take tolls on the perspectives of the media as well as the average American. Nevertheless, the travel ban has been critiqued as well as praised by different groups and the Federal’s Judge’s emergency order has sparked debate on the constitutionality of the order.
Trump illustrates that he has gained support from 16,500 local polices (P7) to emphasize his popularity and validate his argument. It is true that some individuals may feel left behind when hearing the great number of people supporting Trump. However, this does not indicate that the argument proposed by Trump is logical nor sound. The endorsement of Trump’s political rally has nothing to do with validity of his argument.
The Travel Ban marks a major turning point in the policies on immigration in the United States. Due to increased terrorist attacks and illegal immigrant numbers rising, it is believed that temporarily banning immigrants from particular countries is key to ensuring safety within the United States. Though many have expressed their concern towards the ban because of its similarity to previous discriminatory and unconstitutional acts. The ban has even been referred to as the “Muslim Ban”.
For the immigration proposal what I think about immigration and the Mexico pay for the wall I think they should let immigrants come to the United States but on some of the reasons I don’t because in the article it says an immigrant broke into a 64-year old ladys house and beat her to almost to her death but some immigrants cross to get a better education and to see a different prospective in life. In the information it was talking about how some americans were loosing there jobs due to immigration population, and that the minomon wage is going down and that today nearly 40% black teenagers are unemployed and nearly 50% of Hispanics are unemployed. In the earlier text it says that all illegal aliens in gangs should be apprehended and deported,
In Texas, there was a woman who was trying to seek help from her husband who was abusing he Instead of the police department assisting her, she was reported to ICE, and was later deported to Mexico. Who was really being helped in that situation? Just the abusive husband who did not have any legal troubles from the situation. Detained immigrants under Obama’s administration were carefully looked after and treated with respect from their guards. Under Trumps administration, they are denied proper health opportunities, the guards do not speak their languages, and they are not carefully looked after. This is not helping anyone. These detained immigrants are being treated with extreme unfair disrespect for trying to make a better life for themselves. Legal citizens in the United States are also being treated unfairly if they look as though they have a hispanic decent. A waiter in California refused to attend to four latina customers unless they showed proper documentation. Would I, a white male be asked for proper documentation? Probably not. Trump’s administration is revealing more of the prejudice and racist Americans living in this country.
But with the current scenario, people are being separated from their loved ones because they are born in a specific country! Banning young children and aging grandmothers from the six countries obviously isn’t the right move. Everyone knows that America always had strained relations with Muslim bearing countries and the ban deteriorates it even further. Notably, 97 tech companies suggest that this ban is bad for business (Reilly) Jared A Goldstein states that every president has deemed that anyone of any race, religion can become an American citizen as long as he/she upholds the Constitution (Goldstein) Based on the opposition received by the ban since day one, it is imperative that the people oppose it as much as they can.
It appears that Senator Rob Portman is a bit more open to the idea of supporting immigration reforms in a positive way. He voted no against the bill that require hospitals to report illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment. That bill had the intention to place restrictions on those who came in and were not documented aliens. It would be possible to deny them care and have employers be held financially responsible for the patient if so. This is a big factor pertaining to businesses. While I do believe that all immigrants should be here legally, I don't think that if they are severely injured that they should be denied any type of care that could save their lives. He also voted to extend the period in which illegal aliens could stay in the
I. Newly inaugurated President Donald Trump has recently approved a ban involving the restriction of travel into the United States of immigrants from seven Muslim countries. Since this ban is only for up to 90 days, this is just the beginning of a potentially longer or even permanent ban. This is not the first time he has demonstrated the lack of regard with social equality.
The United States has had numerous presidents varying in political parties, beliefs, and ethical values. And in a country as diverse in race, religion, and culture as the U.S. is, it does not come as surprise that the country has yet to elect a president in which everyone supports. Every president has their flaws and every action of the White House is controversial and scrutinized. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “The ultimate measure of a man is not of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”. With every presidency comes controversies which can define the legacy of that president and their impact on the country. Following more present day presidencies, President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration is an extremely controversial topic around the world right now. Using an executive order President Trump has temporarily banned travel from seven countries.
Donald Trump doesn’t know the hardships that many immigrants face in order to have a better life. Many of them come to the United States to have a numerous amount of opportunities and he is taking them away which ruins their well being. In Time Magazine, Indira Marquez Robles has her future planned out. She knows what she wants in life, but she has distress about what might happen. Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing, it’s not benefiting the people just making things deleterious. Countless stories like this are disheartening to multiple individuals like myself.
Trump sparked great controversy after he passed a travel ban which banned people from seven different Muslim majority countries, and put a hold on the refugee program indefinitely. Unfortunately, Trumps grace upon this wonderful country of ours was put on hold when a judge transgressed his boundaries and deemed the act unconstitutional. Refugees have been a problem to the world for the past decade or so, and have caused hardship to many people across the world, putting stress on the many different governments and the citizens of them. For too long, we the world, are stripped of our happiness and pleasure as we watch these ragged, pathetic beings cling onto what little life they have left like a slaughtered lamb still fighting back although
Illegal immigration is a leading contentious issue in politics and news with recent crimes and Presidential nominees. All articles were in agreement that the largest portion of illegal immigrants are from Mexico. Many of the arguments against illegal immigration are that they raise costs due to education, health care, incarceration and crime expenses, as well welfare expenses. My original hypothesis is that illegal immigration results in a net economic loss due to those reasons.
There are many immigrants around the world that come into the United States to seek a better life. The U.S. is known for immigration because of how large the country is and the great amount of diversity it holds. Immigrants may seem beneficial for the U.S. when it comes to economy, but they can cause overpopulation, the possibility of terrorism, and even the loss of jobs and lower wages for American citizens. At the rate that immigrants are coming into the U.S., it can be threatening which is why there need to be stricter laws. Although immigration is a heavy issue, it would be quite difficult to actually ban it, which is why the laws of immigration should be stricter for a safer environment for both the immigrants and the American citizens.
The most recent news coming from Washington is the immigration bill that Donald Trump has just signed into effect. This places a ban on immigration for anyone that is a citizen or naturalized in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The problem is that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when truly only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons. Although Trump’s administration has tried to understate the importance of this act by addressing it as a, “ ‘temporary pause’ ”, citizens of these seven countries have had their lives in America come to a screeching halt (Kennedy, Merit. NPR.org). The United States was built on the hard work and desperation of
The travel ban is an executive order which was put into place by President Donald Trump’s administration on January 27th, 2017. The order was put into place for our national security to “protect the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the United States.” This measure banned travel into the U.S. for 90 days from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. This obviously sparked an outcry from social media, which caused a divide among Americans. With a show of hands, how many of you think that the travel ban is actually a ban on Muslim refugees and that it is racist. Recent polls show that 57% of Americans favor the temporary ban while 33% are opposed to it, and 10% are still undecided. Racism, fascism, and Islamophobia; these words have all taunted supporters of President Trump and the travel ban. The one thing people don’t realize is that the travel ban isn’t banning Muslims from America. Who in the room can name the top 5 countries with the most Muslims. They are Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria. Not one of these countries are listed in the ban. This ban is only for only ninety days, and is aimed at countries who have sent a large contingency of terrorists to the U.S. The countries selected have active terrorist training camps, and Trump is not the individual who selected the countries on the list. These countries are unstable, with no reliable vetting procedures. We shouldn’t admit people until they can meet our security screening standards.
