Republican presidential runner Donald Trump may have failed to disown the Ku Klux Klan this weekend, but he'll have you know he is not racist. In fact, he claims to be “the least racist person that you have ever met,” and last summer he claimed about not having a racist bone in his body. But he hasn’t given us a lot of reason to believe that. In fact, despite Trump’s protests to the contrary, he has a long history of saying and doing racist things. It's not really surprising that he's won the support and praise of the country’s white supremacists. When Trump was serving as the president of his family's real estate company, the Trump Management Corporation, in 1973, the Justice Department sued the company for alleged racial discrimination …show more content…
Trump claimed in 2011 to have sent people to Hawaii to investigate whether Obama was really born there. He insisted at the time that the researchers “cannot believe what they are …show more content…
But Trump continues to insinuate that the president was not born in the country. “I don’t know where he was born,” Trump said in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday. “I'm doing good for the Muslims,” Trump told CNN in December. “Many Muslim friends of mine are in agreement with me. They say, ‘Donald, you brought something up to the fore that is so brilliant and so fantastic.’” Not long before he called for a blanket ban on Muslims entering the country, Trump was proclaiming his affection for “the Muslims,” disagreeing with rival candidate Ben Carson’s claim in September that being a Muslim should disqualify someone from running for president. “I love the Muslims. I think they're great people,” Trump said, insisting that he would be willing to name a Muslim to his presidential cabinet. Donald Trump claims to not be racist, but that statement has been proven false. Trump would lie with even a lie detector attached to him. For all we know, he is racist and may be 1/16 Mexican. Donald Trump claims to have never been racist, but we ALL know the truth. Donald Trump has been discriminating other races long before he ran for president. He might as well feed us coal and say it’s a hard
"The only thing she’s got going is the women’s card." Hillary Clinton is a former secretary of state, U.S. senator, and first lady, making her one of the most qualified presidential candidates in U.S. history. Also Donald Trump goes on to say “Both men and women can be victims of sexual harassment in the workplace, though women make up nearly 80 percent of the victims. Trump believes that if a woman is harassed, she should leave the workplace. Also Trump thinks that women who pursue abortions should obtain "some form of punishment" if abortions become banned. In my opinion, Donald has something against women being that he bashes them every chance he gets. Also concerning African American Trump says “If Black lives don’t matter, then go back to Africa.” Donald Trump is using racism to rise to power while promising to make America “great again.” In my opinion, I got that he meant when America was segregated. Donald Trump has a lot of media influence tying back to chapter
They think they have the right to say things to others that they wouldn’t say to their face. In fact, Donald Trump has received many hateful tweets after he tweeted “sadly, the overwhelming amount of violent crime in our major cities is committed by blacks and hispanics-a tough subject-must be discussed” (@realDonaldTrump). Hateful comments, like that of @juliadaydrummer, have been tweeted about Trump’s comment. @juliadaydrummer tweeted “Donald u jackass. From the land down under, that'sTHE most racist comment I've heard in a long time.congrats” (@juliadaydrummer). Trump’s comment about violent crimes being committed in major cities mainly by blacks and hispanics is not entirely racist. He is stating the truth; “the overwhelming majority of black homicide victims (93 percent from 1980 to 2008) were killed by blacks”
A. According to an article Forbes published in 2011, Trump has had to file his companies for bankruptcy.
Trump has put into his campaign. He has brought Islamophobia to a whole new level feeding off of our citizens fear of another terrorist attack on American soil. Trump stated that America needs “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” He defended this statement by saying those who believe in Jihad pose a threat to our nation (Chavez, Paola). His comments about Muslims has stirred communities to fear their Islam practicing neighbors without a legitimate reason. Trump has caused much of society to belittle the African American race with his uneducated rhetoric. Trump has stated, “There’s no such thing as racism anymore. We’ve had a black president so it’s not a question anymore. Are they saying black lives should matter more than white lives or Asian lives? If black lives matter, then go back to Africa? We’ll see how much they matter.” However, we all know racism exists and always will, no matter how hard we try to rid it from our society. To attempt to gain the African American vote in a speech he says “You’re living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58% of your youth is unemployed -- what the hell do you have to lose?” Donald Trump obviously as no issue talking badly of minority races especially Mexicans. Trump himself has labeled Mexican immigrants as criminals, rapist, and killers. His uneducated statement set off those of
Trump’s public racism dates back to long before the start of his presidential campaign. As a real estate developer, a TV star, and now as a politician, he has insulted African Americans, the Japanese, Native
The Hispanic population in the United States has increased throughout the years, but so has the racism. Sad to say that many other races don’t like the fact that more Hispanics are migrating all over the United States. Donald Trump our 45th president of the United States has created more racism with his statements towards Hispanics. In the article from “The Washington Post” by Michelle Ye Hee Lee, mentions that there been many violent rallies with many people getting hurt, as well as many protest around the United States due to these words from president trump “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people”.
This is the first out of the many reasons regarding why Trump isn’t appropriate as president. Trump has a long record of being a provocateur on matters of race and ethnicity. Therefore, it is no surprise that even on his social media, Twitter, he mentions that blacks and latinos commit the most crime in America. Also, during his campaign trail he made many racist comments. During the launch, he called mexican immigrants “rapists” who are bringing drugs and crime to the US. His campaign focuses on building a wall to keep these immigrants out of the US. Trump also called a ban on all muslims from entering the US. Then in 2011, Trump started the birther conspiracy questioning whether or not president Obama was born in America, which many citizens viewed as a racially charged insult against the first African American president. Not only is Trump racist, but he lacks morality. He has repeatedly bulldozed a certain area for his own use. For example, he has recently destroyed areas of minority communities in order to build casinos and hotels. Furthermore, Trump has often spoken out against affordable healthcare for American citizens who are poor.
Mexicans. For Example, Trump said, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best, they’re not sending you, they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems with us, they’re bringing drugs, they’re bring crime, they’re rapists… And some, I assume, are
Racist comments and actions absolutely pervade the atmosphere surrounding Donald Trump and his campaign. At a recent event Trump hosted at a sports center in Alabama, a 53 year old man by the name of Jim Sherota is quoted as saying a few pretty horrific
Throughout the race for the white house, Trump received various lawsuits filed against Trump University. Trump University, opened in 2005, offered real estate and managing wealth classes. Many questioned the legitimacy of Trump University of fraud and false advertising. In defense, Trump claimed that Gonzalo Curiel, the judge of the case, was not viable because he was Mexican (Biography.com Editors, para. 29). Trump also refused to release his tax returns before the election was over, which caused questions to arise in the public (Biography.com Editors, para. 31).
He treats race groups as monoliths, which implies that they are all the same. In May 2016, Trump implied that Judge Gonzalo Curiel was unfit to judge because of his Mexican heritage. Fellow republican Paul Ryan said this, “Claiming a person can’t do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment.” Donald Trump addressed the Republican Jewish Coalition in December. During this meeting, Donald Trump voiced racist stereotypes about Jews to the Jews. These stereotypes were, “I’m a negotiator, like you folks. Is there anyone who doesn’t renegotiate deals in this room?” He also claimed that the Jews wanted to buy his submission. Along with all this he posted this anti-Semitic meme to his Twitter account.
Donald Trump’s views on immigration have been a part of who he is since the beginning. When Trump announced his presidential bid in 2015, he focused mostly on the issue of immigration. While the media can easily exaggerate speeches from presidential candidates, it is clear that Trump means what he says. Donald Trump’s presidential bid is a clear example of how he views immigration.
Moral panics within the media have depicted Muslims and Mexicans to be a threat; since Trump does not trust the established media it must be assumed that he has been getting his information from other media sources. He could be spreading a moral panic
In a recent press conference, Donald Trump stated “racism is evil”. How can the leader of one of the most influential countries in the world say something this hypocritical? If all racism is evil, what does that make him?
Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York. He was an assertive child so his parents sent him to a military academy for high school. They hoped that his education there would also discipline him to make him a better child/person. He furthered his education by studying economics at Wharton College at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1971, after he finished college, he took over his father’s real estate company. He renamed the company the Trump Organization. As he was very involved in economics, he would buy many pieces of land and create buildings, mostly in the Manhattan area. Often times, Trump’s business methods and actions have been called into question. For example, in 1973, he was called into question because some of his tenants complained about discrimination towards them by Donald. Another scandal that he has been brought into are the numerous allegations that women have brought up saying that Donald sexually assaulted them, among other inappropriate actions. He married Melania Knauss, his now third and current wife, in 2005. He currently has 5 kids throughout his three wives On June 16, 2015, Trump announced he was running for president. Some policies that are linked to Trump is creating a wall between the United States and Mexico and he often emphasizes deporting Muslims. His policies are often scrutinized for being overly aggressive and unnecessary, linking back to his bias and character. In May 2016, Trump was called the
