Due to the existing need to explore driving behavior and safety at toll plazas, the objective of this study is to investigate the effect of applying multiple scenarios with various paths, signage, pavement markings, traffic condition, and extending auxiliary using driving simulator experiments. Drivers’ characteristics were collected from the questionnaire before each experiment. Four risky indicators including speed, standard deviation of speed, standard deviation of lane deviation, and acceleration noise were collected from each frame of the simulator experiments using MATLAB software to achieve the goal of this study. Four cameras with 60 HZ frequency were installed to record the experiments. Three cameras were pointed to the participants’ face, feet, and hands to observe participants’ reaction. The last camera was pointed to the monitor to record the experiment. The experiment’s videos show the four cameras’ views and some experiment information (e.g., speed, frame number, and time) for each frame. The videos were used for identifying the exact location of each zone, which is described in Figure 2, by determining the exact frame of each location. Consequently, driving behavior can be investigated accurately for each zone for each participant. …show more content…
The length of zone 1 is 0.25 miles located between point 1 (after the on-ramp) and point 2 (after the off-ramp). Zone 2 extends 0.25 miles between point 2 and point 3 (before the toll plaza). Zone 3 is the toll plaza zone with a length of 0.5 miles located between point 3 and point 4 (after the toll plaza). Finally, zone 4 is the area after the toll plaza and it extends 0.15 miles between point 4 and point 5 (before the final off-ramp).

Such a great amount to talk for, so less to compose; as it has been a civil argument whether it is the driving organizations that matter the most or is it the driving educators. An extremely straightforward conclusion could in all likelihood be the way that the notorieties of driving schools are really keep running by the productivity of the driving educators. Also, that driving teachers are after all only workers of the driving schools. The best indicate that comes in play is that they are both supplementing each other and that nobody has domination over the other. All things considered, it is about keeping the driving teachers persuaded enough to love their occupation and perform it with the best of their capacity. Be that as it may, at the
Teen driving is unsafe and dangerous, teen driving is the leading cause of teenage deaths in the United States with more than 5,000 teens dying a year. 17 year old Weston Griggs, killed himself and the 2 passengers he had in his car. But, this accident was no accident. Weston was going 70 mph in a 40 mph speed zone. The issue in this story is that young drivers like Weston, inexperienced and full of adrenaline are just hurting them selves and others by getting behind the wheel at such a young age. Teens between the ages 15 through 17 do not belong on the road. Outrageous amounts of teens are dying every year and these numbers are not changing, so why keep them on the road? Most people think of scoring points as a good thing and in many cases, it is. Unfortunately, this is not the case with your driver's license. Driving records are essentially trascripts of your driving behavior. They include everything from citations you have received to any accidents that you have been involved in, regardless of who was at fault.
I hope you are doing well. I am Amy Ratigan, a sophomore at Merion Mercy Academy, located outside of Philadelphia, and I am writing to you in hopes that you will consider my plan. I am proposing that when drivers turn seventy years old, they should be required to retake the driving exam. Mercury News states: “According to the Institute of Highway Safety, drivers 85 years and older have the highest rate of fatal accidents per miles driven of any age group.” However, if there were a law passed which required drivers to retake it age seventy, there would be a decrease in fatal accidents and an increase in safer drivers. I can say from experience that family members at home worry about their loved ones who refuse to abandon their right for freedom. With this new law, family members will be worry-free, roads will be safer, and the drivers themselves will benefit with a refresher course.
I woke up at eight in the morning, being that it was May and spring was in the air I knew that my day would be perfect. As I leaped out of my warm and comfortable bed to put on my Bullwinkle slippers, my stomach nerves began to tighten. I figured it was just a small bellyache and I would get over it soon. I walked slowly to the bathroom not really realizing that the house was not filled with sunshine as it usually is during these beautiful spring days. As I began to brush my teeth my eyes caught a glimpse of the window that I now noticed was so close to the mirror. I could have died when I noticed that the rain was coming down like a storm. It was at that moment that I ran to mother’s room to tell her that I couldn’t go driving today. My
I’ve always been fascinated with cars and being able to drive, different styles of cars and how each one was different. I wanted to drive them all. I often found myself using the internet to try and see what car I would have when I was able to finally drive. So many different cars from all over the world but learning to drive never changes.
Riding with my older sister, Alex, when she first started driving was terrifying. The car swerved and jerked as she sped down the highway. Sitting in the backseat, my eyes were constantly wide with fear, and I often found myself gripping the handle on the door until my knuckles turned white. Whenever a car approached, my heart began to beat rapidly out of fear that she would hit it. However when my other sister, Emily, started driving, I enjoyed riding with her. She drove the speed limit and rarely swerved out of the lines. I could calmly sit in the backseat with my hands lying in my lap, my heart at ease. It is amazing how two sister who went to the same driving class with the same instructor could have such different parking skills, levels of distraction, and driving styles. Emily is by far a better driver than Alex.
One of the greatest things that teenagers look forward to is getting their driver¡¦s licence and getting the freedom to do whatever they want. Ever since graduated licensing began five years ago, on April 1,1994, many people have made good and bad comments about it.
On a chilly October evening around 8 o’clock a sole road leads me from Bowlus to Royalton. My eyes burn from the wind blowing into them all evening, my body aches from sitting in a single spot for hours, unable to make a move, not seeing a thing. As dusk sets, the chilled air pricks my pale skin with an abundance of goosebumps. The heat blasts through the vents to prevent the windows from frosting over and brings warmth to my skin. The car has no insurance yet, so my parents were hesitant to let me drive it. After pleading to them that I was responsible and old enough, the moment finally came. They said multiple times that I needed to be extra careful, but eventually they handed me the keys. The radio echoes the lyrics May We All through the car while I hum along. The rumbling of my stomach silences the thumping of the bass, since the last time I ate had been around lunch. The sky was somber and the moon was hidden behind the jet-black clouds. The headlights of the car reflects off the tar like a spotlight lighting up an empty stage. Warm air glides across my relaxed hand on the steering wheel. Corn and bean fields, soon to be harvested, surround the road that takes me home. It's a serene night. I am about five minutes away from home and just about to go around one of the only curves that I drive on every day, so I slow my normal 65 to about a 60, and prepare for the turn.
It's a straight shot from Royalton to Bowlus. My eyes burn from the long day outside having the wind blowing into them all evening, my body aches from sitting in a single spot for hours, unable to make a move. As dusk sets the chilled air prickles my pale skin with an abundance of goosebumps. The heat blasts through the small vents to prevent the windows of my 2005 Chevy Malibu from frosting over and to warm myself up from the long day in the wilderness. The car has no insurance yet therefore I shouldn't be driving, but earlier in the day I had begged my parents if they would let me drive it just this once. The moment came after two long months of waiting since my 16th birthday in mid September. After multiple times of telling me that I needed to be extra careful they handed me the keys. The radio echoes the lyrics May We All through the car, while I hum along. The rumbling of my stomach silences the thumping of the bass, since the last time I ate had been around lunch. I am about five minutes from the place I call home and am just about to go around one of the only curves that I
