Common app essay #5
Scouting has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I joined in the First grade as a tiger cub and I was super excited. I remember getting my uniform and wanting to wear it everywhere. I was so excited to be a part of it. I have grown up through scouting and can’t picture my life without it. It has shaped me into the man I am today. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout. I want to continue helping the troop even after I finish. I will be involved in scouting for the rest of my life. Starting as a tiger cub, scouts was something that I looked forward to each week. There was not a lot of responsibilities. I just showed up each week and the adults had something fun planned. I made lots of friends through it and we all had a good time. As we advanced we learned more and more and got more responsibility. With each rank the group of us got smaller and smaller. The last ranks were Webelos 1 and 2, they signified a transition towards Boy Scouts. The requirements were harder and we had a lot more responsibilities.

Being an adult is about being mature and responsible. This signified the transition from childhood to adulthood to me because this meant we had to be responsible for ourselves. The path would only get harder and more boys would drop out. This also represented a change from the parents being responsible for our advancement to us being responsible for our advancement. Boy scouts is almost completely boy run and adults are only there to guide you and supervise you. Webelos had prepared us for the transition, but few would make it far in Boy
Eventually, after four long, hard-working years, I achieved my Eagle Scout rank. In just one mid-summer evening, I went from one of 2.4 million Scouts, to just one of 146,400 Eagle Scouts, a little over 6% of all chartered Scouts of 2014. I reached my lifetime goal of become my family's first Eagle Scout. At the ceremony, for the first time, I had a crowd of 150 cheering for me, and not one person in the room didn't cry tears of joy for
I hope everyone had an amazing Troop “Boot-Camp” and Leadership weekend. I want to thank all the adults that were able to oversee and guide. Now moving away from this weekend, I am here to primarily talk about my Eagle Scout project.
I am glad to say that I will begin the installation of the brand new sign for the St. Margaret's Parish Center this weekend for my Eagle Scout Project. The new sign has just been finished, and I am in need of a few dedicated scouts to assist me in the installation. I am looking for between 8-12 scouts to help out this Saturday between 9:00 - 12:00 and 12:00 - 3:00. Bring shovels, wheelbarrows, post diggers, and of course work gloves and safety glasses. If all goes to plan, we should get through all of the work on Saturday, but we may need some people to help out on Monday aswell. Thanks to everybody for your support, and remember to sign up on the Troop Web Site so I know how much food to get! Thanks again, hope to see
From a young age, I have been fascinated by making things and learning how they work. My educational experience and community service projects have given me an appreciation for engineering from project managing and constructing my Eagle Scout project to enjoying my chemistry and physic classes. I plan on obtaining a degree in Engineering because I enjoy taking something from conception to production and I am interested in the science and math behind
Being a Girl Scout from kindergarten until the end of middle school has taught me various life skills. Firstly, it has taught me the importance of teamwork. Through various projects and activities, my troop and I have worked together in achieving any goals set by our leaders and other members of our community. This experience has also taught me life skills that can help me as an individual, such as first aid and how to deal with children. My mother was a troop leader for girls in grades third through fifth, excluding me from the eighth grade, and I acted somewhat as a co-leader for my mum when the actual co-leader was unavailable. I set up crafts and helped the younger girls with badges that I had already gotten in the
When my grandfather earned his Eagle Scout Rank in 1933, he unknowingly began what would become a family tradition that has helped mold my personal perspective today. He ignited a passion for Boy Scouts within my family, which continued through my father, and was fulfilled by me when I earned the Rank of Eagle in 2014. Scouting formed me into the person I am today more so than any other activity I have ever been involved with, reinforcing my family’s emphasis on leadership, service, and work ethic.
Scouts. I thought it was fun for a while, but then it got boring and I

I foresee a number of challenges that come with moving from a small town to a large city, especially during the college transition. One challenge I expect to be more troublesome will be that of having to manage my time effectively and efficiently with little to no interference from parental figures. This will no doubt be a daunting task as up until now parents do much of the planning with doctor’s appointments and making sure I balance fun and work. I believe that my experience planning for my Eagle Scout project will make the upheaval easier. I spent a decent portion of my summer planning to build a bridge from drawing designs, to purchasing supplies, to sending emails requesting help. Planning this project entirely on my own while still having

I feel an enormous responsibility to help make a positive difference in the world, and I know that the things I care about are more affected the more significantly I am involved. This is the reason I choose leadership rather than simple involvement.
After a lifetime of a “No girls allowed” policy, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has finally decided to integrate the female youth into their organization. For over 100 years, the BSA was focused on building character and teaching skills to young boys. They prided themselves on teaching young boys the foundation of becoming men. The BSA was created over a century ago and nothing stays the same forever. Times have definitely changed, and combining the Boys Scouts of America with the Girls Scouts Organization is apart of a new and improved culture.
When I was young, my older brother was in scouts and like most younger brothers, I liked to do what he did so, when I got old enough I immediately asked my parents to put me into scouts. Unlike my brother I was very strong-willed to get my project done and become an Eagle Scout, at the beginning. I knew that doing the project was very helpful for my future, it looked great on a resume for future jobs. But over time I just got tired of doing the work that is required for scouting. I wouldn’t go
In March of 2015, Conservation Commission members Jay Diener, Sharon Raymond, Gordon Vinther, and Anthony Ciolfi (alternate), were approved by the Board of Selectmen for additional 3-year terms. Jay Diener was reelected as Chairman, with Pete Tilton, Jr. as Vice Chair and Barbara Renaud as Clerk.
The Boy Scouts of America and the Girls Scouts of the USA are both nonprofit organizations that can be the most wonderful experiences in one’s life. Being a Boy Scout or Girl Scout can help the youth develop maturity and character, as they grow with age and enter adulthood. Through the process of volunteering and showing leadership skills, Boy Scouts of America and Girls Scouts of the USA are both life-changing organizations. One involved in any of the two organizations will create unity throughout their community and uphold a legacy. While the youth involved in one of the two organizations earn achievements and countless awards, scouting can be utilized to create an exceptional college admission resume.
