The career that I am going to research is teaching at the middle school level. Teachers educate students, they inspire students, they learn from the students, and they change the way they teach, to better help the children learn, as well as change the way the children learn and think.

Over the past decade, it has become evident to the students of the United States that in order to attain a well paying job they must seek a higher education. The higher education, usually a college or university, is practically required in order to succeed. To be able to attend these schools and receive a degree in a specific field it means money, and often a lot of it. For students, the need for a degree is strong, but the cost of going to college may stand in the way of a successful future. Each year the expense of college rises, resulting in the need for students to take out loans. Many students expect to immediately get a job after graduation, however, in more recent years the chances for college graduates to get a well paying job

One of the most important decisions in any teenager’s life is what they decide to do after high school, the choice is usually between college and deciding to get a job and start making money. Although the cost of education in America continues to rise, the benefits of a higher education are substantial and can be seen in the success of anyone who has a college degree.

I am a senior with two years till graduation, but you may ask yourself, “Why does a senior need two more years? How could they be considered a senior in this scenario?” I am glad you asked. I have enough credits from previous colleges to be labeled as a senior but the requirements for my career change have left me with more than a few holes to fill in my degree audit thus making me a perpetual senior. My degree is in biology and chemistry with a minor in math, but I began as a mechanic. I began working on automobiles in my hometown of Minneapolis, receiving a degree from Hennepin tech and landing in New Jersey fixing jets for the military. The life of a mechanic is not a glorious one. It is long, hard, dirty, and painful on the good days, but when you add military regulations into the mix it becomes unbearable.

A man once said “The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future in life.” The California state university will send me on my path to my future. California State university, the Northridge society, one of the best technology schools and should allow me to have the best education.

While many students will have to spend lots of money paying for college, I will be earning paychecks. I know that it will take some time before I earn paychecks large enough to pay for a house of my own, but I am confident that with hard work and patience I will be living independently sooner than I would if I attended college. In his article, “10 Rules for Going to College When Nobody Expected you to,” Joe Rodriquez actually said, “don’t worry too much about the high cost of college tuition”(12). On the contrary, the high cost of college tuition is something that everyone should worry about. It’s easy to say “don’t worry about it” when you are not the person who has to pay for something. There are news stories all of the time that talk about the enormous amount of students who have debt that they can’t pay because of the lack of jobs for college graduates. College tuitions costs have risen drastically over the past decades. Going to college is good idea for students who know the job they want requires a degree. If a student is unsure about their future career, then they should consider working for a while before they spend money on college

I have been working on my academic career for many years now. I am currently in my third year of community college, and have come across multiple teachers who have helped and inspired me in many ways. A teacher not only teaches the content of their course, but life skills as well. They are kind, caring, considerate, and understanding of their students. A teacher who goes above and beyond for their students is one that will make a difference. One teacher who I believe has made all the difference to me, was my accounting professor.

Many high school students sometimes wonder if continuing their education after high school is truly worth it. Obtaining a four-year degree is a very expensive and time-consuming task. After graduating from college and getting a Bachelor’s degree, the goal is to find a job that fits their chosen profession and earn more money than if they would have not gone to secondary school. The worry of many students is that they will not be able to achieve this goal in finding a job with their degree or that the pay will not be worth it as they are paying off loans after graduation. People have different opinions on the matter and some do not even consider that college is not worth the money. The average college student will graduate with 37,173 dollars’ worth of debt and 40 percent of college students will drop out. In addition, college provides an intrinsic value that enlightens the individual. Although higher education requires a large investment that may not return its original value, I contend that this investment provides one the ability to typically earn significantly more money and pursue their passion.

In my adult life, the ideal career for me would be an Aircraft Mechanic. An aircraft mechanic undergoes the work of scheduled maintenance on immense aircraft to make them perform and fly safely. In accordance with technical order standards set by the U.S. Air force. I chose this career for several reasons. My father has done this since he was 18 and it is an interesting and challenging career choice. An aircraft mechanic can be employed at a number of bases around the world. I would like to stay close to home and work at Tinker Air force Base. There are several different options in this career for work environments; including flight line maintenance, which is outdoors in the elements, or in dock maintenance, which is in a capacious aircraft hangar or controlled environment.
