Instinctively, children love to explore outside and discover new things about the items that they see everyday, like rocks. I think that it is important for teachers and all other adults to teach children more about the earth we live on and the things that make up our beautiful earth. Naturally, children believe that the ground consist of only soil and that rocks are only on the surface of the ground. They believe that the rocks they find on the surface of the ground that they can hold and examine, are the only rocks that exist on earth. Children love these rocks because they can examine and collect them. Also because they are so common, yet the characteristics of each rock are so different making them each so unique and beautiful. Although they these rocks are so unique and beautiful, they are not the only rocks on earth. Children believe they are and that the ground is made up of only soil however that is wrong. They are right about the ground being made of soil and that rocks can be held and examined, but that isn’t the whole truth. The ground is not purely made of soil and all rocks are not on the surface of earth. There are actually three ways a rock can be formed and they can actually also be found inside the earth below the soil that we see everyday. Teachers need to teach children about rocks in a variety of ways. Through videos and pictures, discussions of rocks in different locations, etc. Teachers should teach about this concept because of how important it is.
One of the oldest books the Epic of Gilgamesh gives us a view on how the old civilization Mesopotamia and its people were it roots back to the year 2000 B.C.E. The book starts off by the King Gilgamesh sending a temple-prostitute to tame a wild man named Enkidu who acted like an animal in the grasslands. The temple-prostitute then sexualy charms him to win Enkidu’s trust. then convinces him to go back with her to the city. She then clothes him and teaches him how to eat cooked food and brewed beer and how to bathe. By her words it shows how the mesopotamians lived.
Jhumpa Lahiri’s Unaccustomed Earth is comprised of eight short stories about different Indian families’ struggles in America, many of them going through the immigrant experience. The conflicts are with friends and family, and also with themselves, as each of them attempt to find their own identity along with fitting in with the rest of society. One of the causes of these struggles that because the families in the stories are mixed in terms of generation. Many of the adults in the stories were first generation immigrants from India, while many of the children were raised in the United States, which is the second generation. This led to blending of culture and at the same time, clashes between the immigrant mentality of living and the American mentality of living. In Unaccustomed Earth, Lahiri demonstrates to the reader the important influence of environment, specifically culture and how it impacts parental teachings, on the personality and development of an individuals’ identity, and how the actions and development of characters can affect one’s family and friends; the impact of environment and culture is shown especially by the characters and stories “Hell-Heaven” and “Hema and Kaushik”.

Containing old histories, this is considered as a part of planetary science while it possesses holistic and reductionist approaches in the science of the planet Earth. This discipline can cope with lithosphere, atmosphere, biosphere or hydrosphere. The Good Earth was a very well written book that was entertaining. The way it was written the author seemed to be toying with your emotions and completely surprising you with the outcome of the story. One page you were delighted on how the story was coming along and the next page you were completely crushed and deflated. It also gives you a great insight into what life was like back in the fifties or so, and it just makes you think about what was going on. It made you consider one side, then another character's feelings and sometimes it could even get slightly confusing. Overall this was a satisfying book that quenched my thirst for
My Personal philosophy is the belief that children are naturally curious individuals who needs an environment that is safe, caring, and supports risk-taking. I believe that teachers should let a child’s curiosity direct them to learning something new. Children are curious because the curiosity grows from familiarity. When children are safe and comfortable in their environment will be willing to explore their surroundings, while a child who is shy and timid might stay where they are and not join the other children. Curiosity is the main fuel in their development, allowing them to explore their discovery. Their discovery leads them to their curiosity.
Steve Hansen was an instructor who informed many students in Wisconsin about the importance of renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and earth stewardship. His creativity, energy, and compassion inspired many to become better people. The Steve Hansen Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to honor his spirit and memory, and to help the next generation carry on his important work. He lived the “Earth Steward” philosophy of making ways of global change from a local-to-global scales to improve ecosystem strength and individual well being. For quite some time, life on earth has been nothing but peaches and cream for several people and because of people who live a non-sustainable life, it has left others with an indistinct outlook on earth’s future. Sustainability to me is doing things that will help prevent harmful things from happening to the environment now and in the future. With the support of the sustainability and more quality ways of living, the Earth Charter is gradually introduced. Through key research I will explain what the Earth Charter is and why it was founded, describe one of its four parts along with the goals and overarching philosophy, and share the impact it has on my life now and in the future.
Grigg and Lewis (2016, p. 19) define learning outside the classroom as “children learning about people, their heritage and the natural environment, largely through play and first-hand experiences, in a wide range of contexts beyond the classroom.” Learning outside the classroom enables teachers to bring the curricula alive by integrating the school grounds and the local landscape into their teaching (Beames et al., 2012).
