On August 10, 2016 I was dispatched to Hull, Jackson Elementary School on an Unruly student incident. I spoke with Mrs. Martha Phillips, Principal of the school, she stated that second grade student Jairon Day, hit a teacher in the face today. I spoke with Mrs. Erin Cox, she stated “At approximately 11:30 I picked my class up from art and took them to the courtyard for recess. JD followed instructions during recess. We came in at 11:45. As we headed up the stairs JD did not want to come with the class. He did come upstairs but kept wandering away from the class. He cut in and out of Mrs. Cross’ line and tried to go into the teacher’s workroom. This lasted several minutes. He would not get in line but did finally follow directions to stay with the class. …show more content…
He started bumping into people then he hit a student (JS) hard in the head making him cry. He continued to hit and kick at least 5 other students while I was checking on JS. I told JD you are not going to hurt any other students. He pushed me in response. I sent my class to Ms. Jablonski’s room and stayed in the hall with JD. He wanted to go to Ms. Jablonski’s room with the rest of the class. He was still angry so I told him no. When I wouldn’t let him go in the room and Ms. Jablonski shut the door, he ran to Ms. Warren’s room and went through the bathroom to Ms. Jablonski’s room. I was standing in Ms. Jablonski’s door when she told him he had to leave. He ran toward me, kicked me in the knee, and pushed past me. When he heard Ms. Jablonski say Ms. Warren was going to watch the classes while she went to get Ms. Manuel he jumped up and kicked me in the
The fact that Fields’ is a male officer pushes the idea that this was an unjustified action that should have been handled in an assertive and aggressive manner. Fields’ should not have approached the student so violently, no matter how disruptive she had been in class. The school should have taken into account the importance of the behavior, of the situation, and offered counseling for the young girl. As Quanell shared, nobody knows why the girl had been acting the way she had, and maybe all she needed was someone to talk to her about the happenings in her
REPORTER: The reporter/Counselor (Marilyn) called with concerns for the victim, Jerrik. The reporter said the victim came to school late today (8/28/2015), but he was fine. According to Marilyn, the victim was messing with his arms and the teacher (Tabitha) asked the child “what was wrong”, and the victim had bruises on both of his upper arms. The bruises “looked like finger prints” (were not dark marks). After the victim showed the teacher his arms, he then said “look” and “pulled up his shirt, “there were two big bandages covering up the burn marks” in the middle of his back. The teacher asked the victim what happen and he said “I got my butt whooped”. At 11:24am on 8/28/2015, the reporter was called back, and she said the child stated that
The incident occurred on yesterday, Wednesday August 19,2015. Javion got into trouble at school on yesterday. His mother was informed of him not doing his school work and getting out of his seat at school. Javion entered the counselors office with Mrs. Sorenson. Mrs. Sorenson informed me that his teacher Mrs. Henderson told her that he had an issue. I sat and spoke with Javion who was very opened about what had taken place. The child has an abrasion/bruise to his head, with extremities (i.e., arms, legs, hands, feet, fingers, toes). He has a big round ref marks around his left eye and left side of face, along with bruising and swelling on his left thigh. Javion told me that his daddy put some alcohol on the bruise on his face. Child was slapped
I am nearly in disbelief writing with another complaint regarding Tavon Anthony. This has to be at the very least my third time communicating relative to this young man. At this point we feel the only possible solution is to have a meeting between the parents and school staff. While I appreciate the fact finding efforts that have been exhausted to resolve the matter, the incidents have not ceased. When I question Ayanna with regard to the incident I do so comprehensively; using my more than 10 years in law enforcement and more than 10 years as an investigator with Washington, DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA). As a result Ayanna informed me, the very first time I wrote a letter that she was never playing the punch game. Either
The classroom I am observing this day, during free time Gael was in the area of the blocks, he was playing alone, but Noah approached him and he took it off and threw the blocks that was under construction. Gael immediately pushed him and tried to bite him what Noah also hit him. The two were screaming saying that the blocks were of them. The teacher intervened and she told both it was a consequence for the disruptive behavior, and put them both in a time out for some minutes, she put each one of them on opposite corners from each other. During time out, Gael and Noah, both seemed unhappy with not being able to play. Gael began to cry. The teacher didn’t remove Gael or Noah from their time out until the free time was over with. When
The fall of 2005, marked the first I was assaulted by student. Classes were passing and I was in the hallway moving students along. I informed a student named Jimmy he need to go to class. Jimmy ignored me and continue to lean on wall talking to his friends. I informed Jimmy again he had to go class. Jimmy told me get out his face. Nonetheless, I persisted in Jimmy to go to class. Instead of going to class Jimmy walked up me and pushed me to the floor. Shocked and humiliated I pulled myself up from the floor and immediately contacted my union representative. Within hours Jimmy’s mom as the school. Throughout the meeting my principal excused Jimmy’s behavior and argued with me and my union representative. My principal and Jimmy’s mom
When I was in middle school we had a new student in my class, his name was Mahmoud, he came from Syria and made fast friends with me and the other kids, due to his talent in soccer. All of us except a kid named Tyree, He didn't like mahmoud and decided to bully him but mahmoud stood up for himself, and we backed him up. Eventually tyree quit picking on mahmoud. Mahmoud later mahmoud tells me how tyree occasionally picks on the 6th graders, I tell him that what he wants to do about it, he tells me back in his country the government would pick on the weak which is why is family had came here, he told me he doesn't want to see that again and will get back at tyree. I told him not to do anything stupid, like fight him but he said he doesn't have
On November 10, 2015, student Nasim Moody returned to school after being suspended for verbally threatening a teacher and leaving the building without permission. Within 20 minutes of his return, Mr. Nasim Moody attacked Mr. Jalil Brown resulting in a broken nose. As a result, Mr. Brown and several students are afraid to return to the class due to Mr. Moody’s presence.
Counselor contacted the mother in regards to TC and her brother's behavior. Mother stated that the school is thinking of putting the brother in a smaller classroom due to his behavior. According to the mother, the brother kicks, punches, and spits on other kids and classroom property. The counselor discussed with the mother motivates for the brother's behavior and how the mother disciplines TC and her brother.
He continues to escalate, walking around the room and throwing objects. His teachers use a block and redirect to keep him safe. He picks up a stapler, says he is going to hurt himself, and attempts to staple his wrists. His teachers intervene by restraining him. Throughout
Michael is showing different type of behavior issues that are affecting his academics greatly. I do believe with the right approach and response towards Michael’s behavior patterns he can take a turn for the better and will be able to succeed in his education. Michael’s verbal disrespect has been very inappropriate and in my response as the educator I would choose shift 3. This is to “address Michael’s feelings of powerlessness so he is less defensive when I state my authority.” (Chiariello 42). Most educators take advantage of their authority and redirect to a student in an overpowering way. Michael may feel that he is being attacked by the teacher and become very defensive, which causes him to use inappropriate language. A better way to
It seems that, suffered student was frightened with a domineering manner almost constantly when at school. The formal accusation against this case is quite offensive, claiming that he was knocked down stairs, spit on, have an emotional impact upon, and verbally annoyed continually.
Randy was agitated and would not take redirection or suggestion on ways to calm himself. Instead he began yelling at peers and staff. He next began walking around the classroom and making physically aggressive gestures toward staff. After a few minutes of pacing around the classroom, he stated that he was "bite" Mrs. G. The he picked up a sensory bottle and throw it in the direction of Mrs. G. the bottle did not hit Mrs. G.At that point he started to run at a staff member in a aggressive manner.
On November 17 2013, John was at school. He was a Senior, he didn't play any sports, and he wasn't a popular kid. He just wanted the school year to be over so he could go on vacation. Of course he would have to wait 6-8 months for school to be over but he still wanted it to be summer. After school he asked his mom if he could go to the mall. His mom didn't care so she took him to the mall. He would've drove himself but he doesn't have his license yet. She dropped him off at the mall and he told her to pick him up at 7:00. It was 4:15. He had 2 hours and 45 minutes. First he went to Footlocker to look for some shoes. He saw a couple pairs of Jordan's and LeBron’s. There was this other kid from school that was in his class. He was looking at the same shoes as John. His name was Steve. He was the worst kid in school. He has a total of 15 referrals, 45 infractions, 20 after school detentions, and at least 75 lunch detentions.
“ They are suspending little Steven for three days, and he isn’t allowed to come back to class until we have a meeting with the principal,” said one of my coworkers in a conversation about the ongoing issues concerning her five-year-old son and his school. Steven is a five-year-old African-American boy in kindergarten who has been disciplined and suspended for disruptive and aggressive behavior. This particular incident, Steven allegedly kicked another student (who is White) in the eye after he said the student bit him on the back. Neither the teacher nor principal investigated his claim of the other student biting him, and that student did not receive any disciplinary actions. The school instead called my coworker and informed her of Steven 's suspension for assaulting another student.
