Good Afternoon/morning teachers and students.
A strong human spirit is essential for any journey, emotional, physical or inner. Types of journeys don’t always relate to physical experiences, but can relate to inner thoughts or emotional feelings depicting positive or negative effects. A journey generally leads to the development of an individual been either internal or external.
A human spirit is the psychology of an individual, it is the mental state of one’s mind. An individual with a strong human spirit often holds the ability to resist, fight or bounce back. Having a strong human spirit is essential for any journey to overcome the countless challenges and obstacles faced on physical, emotional or inner levels.

Immediately the camera is in the position of a close shot on Elsa’s face portraying her sudden shock and confusion as she processes the thought. Elsa is straight away affected by the response affecting her emotionally and her inner self. Her thoughts on the movement have come to a confused realisation and start to break her down emotionally.
Furthermore in a scene carrying on after the events Elsa’s family is having a formal dinner with the guest been Kotler. During the feast Kotler is been questioned by Ralph about his father not been reported to the authorities for not supporting Hitler and leaving the country. During the heated argument a Jew servant, Pavel, is pouring red wine into Kotler’s wine glass. Upon pouring, Pavel weakened and beaten knocks over the glass of wine spilling it over the table cloth, the close shot represents that blood is about to be spilt. Kotler reacts violently beating Pavel to death right outside the door of the family. During the beating Elsa bravely speaks up to her husband’s power and softly calls “Ralph”in despair for Pavel’s life. Elsa is bluntly ignored and starts to realise the reality of Ralph’s views and intentions for the movement. At this point Elsa is emotionally broken and in result stands up to Ralph’s position having a verbal argument on her perspectives and thoughts, questioning his role and disagreeing with his choices. As a Individual her strong human spirit is essential at this time of
In chapter four of, Gracious Christianity, it covers the spirit of life. Basically, the Spirit that is given by God gives us life mentally, physically, and spiritually to all Christians (78). One concept the authors talk about was powerful, “Instead, we
“Journeys, planned and unplanned, are an inevitable part of life. Their consequences, foreseen or unforeseen, play an important part in a person’s growth.”
There was not many morally courageous people in this film, but Elsa, Bruno’s mother, realized the horrors her husband was putting upon the Jews in the camp he ran. Upon this new information, Elsa decided it was best to take her children and herself out of this situation because she wanted them no where around this mistreatment or the horrors that the people around her were committing. Bruno’s mother was disgusted by this wrongness and acted against the horrible actions of her husband by taking the children. Although she is not directly standing up for the Jews by doing this, she is however helping work against her husband who is doing the actions against the Jewish prisoners. She knows so deeply how horrible the action of the Nazis are and she has the courage to make a small action towards making change to this problem. This woman was extremely courageous, but there were characters who were not quite so. Lieutenant Kurt Kotler was fully aware of the murder and mistreatment of the Jews at the concentration camp and he still chose to stay quiet about it and move on with this abuse to the Jews. He felt powerless in this situation and felt he could make no change. He felt powerless because he submitted to fear when he thought about revolting against this

Overall, through these stories one understands how the journey is meant to matter more than the destination.
As a society, each and every one of us possesses an inner strength that aids us to overcome the impediments in life that we may face. This inner strength is what we call our human spirit.
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines spirit as, “the force within a person that is believed to give the body life, energy, and power”. For millennia, people have wondered what it means to be human. Of the 9 million species on earth, we, the human race, are unique. We love to learn, to laugh, to worship, to run, to think. These activities, among others, are what make humanity and the human spirit. These activities are what give the human race spiritual and intellectual power. Despite the vague nature of this topic and difficulty of articulating concise ideas, authors have written about the strengths and weaknesses of the human spirit. In George Orwell’s classic novel, 1984, a totalitarian government rules over the county of Oceania. The government,
Journey is the pathway to growing up. It is the feeling when you look up in the car after being on the road for a few hours and discover you are back home, the place you’ve been longing to get back to all week. It’s the realization that this time next year you will be halfway done with highschool. It’s all of those feelings wrapped up in one.
The Bible says that man, made in the image of God, is also spirit. It is man’s spirit that communes with the Holy Spirit. God also gave man a free will which allows man to love God willingly. Man created in the image of God has remnants of his character which includes the capability to love, a reason of a high level, and communicate with God. Man was also created with a sense of justice and morality. However, sin also resides in our nature and led to the fall of Adam and Eve.

“Spirituality is derived from the Latin word spiritus, spirit, the essential part of the person which controls the mind and the mind controls the body. Thus the spirit is the vital life force which motivate people and influence ones life, health behavior and relationships” (Baldacchino & Draper, 2001). She also stated that spirituality is the mainstream of life which unifies all aspects of the human being. Spirituality applies to both believers and non believers, including the presence of diverse cultural beliefs (Baldacchino & Draper, 2001). Culliford stated that : “In times of emotional stress, physical illness, loss, bereavement and death human beings tend to find comfort, peace, inspiration, reverence and meaning by focusing on their spirituality whether they believe in God or not” (Culliford, 2002). In a study conducted by Tuck and Thingajana the meaning of spirituality was voiced by person living with HIV disease and healthy adults. The definitions voiced by the HIV patients were that “Spirituality is relating and believing in God, who is always present. It is perceived as being guided or helped or being inspired or giving unto. Spirituality includes the process of journeying, discovering and centering and is outwardly expressed” (Tuck & Thinganjana, 2007). The definitions of Spirituality expressed by the healthy individuals were that:
However, apart from filming details, Bier also exaggerates the conflicts by recording the furious fighting between Claus and Christian when Claus found Christian’s knife. Moreover, close-up shots are used to film Anton and Marianne’s communication on the phone in order to highlight their contradiction and sorrow. In addition, when Elias is injured by the bomb then set and Christian comes to visit him with guilt, Marianne cannot control her anger, and grabbed Christian’s neck, pushed him against the wall and shouted to
In conclusion an individual’s journey could always involve the process of learning, maturation and self-discovery as a personal development. Therefore inner journeys increase our personal knowledge and understanding of others, although the play Away by Michael Gow and the film To Kill a Mockingbird by Robert mulligan involve three types of journey. They all demonstrated the inner journey throughout the play and the film giving us an understanding of an individual’s journey could have an impact on others. I would like to end my speech with a quote by Greg Anderson ‘Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing
Human nature, the essence of what makes a human person what they are, is something that everybody has. Every person is innately a person, but how they put their personhood into action is the biggest indicator of their character, or the projection of a person’s human nature. At their core there is human nature, but their actions are what direct this source of humanity. The quality of someone’s actions is shaped by their environment and sometimes their biological makeup as well. Human nature does not have good or evil characteristics. It is how a person thinks and acts that is the true factor in the shaping of their character.
