The last eight months of school were amazing. Eighth-grade year would have to be my favorite year at this school. I have learned some much and experience new things. This year a become closer with people... The year went by as quick as a blink of an eye. Even though bad things had happened this year, there were a lot more good things. My favorite part in English class would have to be the debates. It was so fun listen to others point of view in real life situations or their how they see things. What I least like about English class would have to be the In English class this year we’ve read, Flowers for Algernon, Tell Tale Heart, The Monkey’s Paw, Tuesdays with Morrie, The Glass Menagerie, Night, Fahrenheit 451 and now what we’re reading in
I cant believe that I am finally a senior in high school it seems just like yesterday I was beginning high school. As I begin my final year I am beginning to realize that this year I will be faced with many responsibilities and will make tons of memories. But I hope that I am able to make my senior year the best yet. Through this final year I hope to have passing grades in all of my classes, to win pep rallies, and to have perfect attendance.
English has never been an easy subject for me. It is something that I've needed to work at constantly in order to achieve a grade that I am satisfied by or more likely, my parents are satisfied by. Throughout high school I have been a person who is naturally gifted in mathematics, physics and chemistry. These subjects are straightforward to me because I knew if I worked harder I would obtain a higher grade, but with English it always seemed that even if I put in more effort it wasn't a given that I’d see better results.
English 102 is a college level of reading and writing course based on the theme monster. When I started the class, I thought monsters as scary creature in the books and movies. As I progressed in English 102, I found out monsters is more than what I though t is. Monsters can represent the fear of people and society, a problem in a society, something that is keep coming back and coming back(Such as financial crisis), natural hazard and danger. It also can serve as a warning; so, people avoid the same mistakes.
English 101 might seem like an easy course to take for some students. For other students such as myself, English 101 was one of the classes I feared and procrastinated on taking. Coming from an ESL background, English was the class I have always struggled with the most. I’ve always excelled in science/ mathematics courses. I prefer the correct answers to be facts and universal. Creativity is not my forte. The process of putting my thoughts down on paper in an organized manner, with correct punctuation, and citing works used, seemed like a complicated, tedious task before taking English 101 this summer.
congratulations! my school is going pretty well. Unfortunately, I have been busy with school and work as well, but the more I work and the more I go to school, my English is getting better and as I said before I am taking an English class. it makes my English better. end of the semester, I am going to take assignment tests in order to pass on English 120. I think it will help me
What has my experience been with the English language? That is the question I intend to answer. English is the language of commerce, the language needed to get most any job internationally. English is estimated to be the second most commonly spoken language in the world, with many foreigners immigrating to the US for jobs the workplace is becoming more and more competitive. To keep up in such a competitive, fast-paced world an excellent understanding of the English language is of the utmost importance. In the US our education in the English language begins at age five, we learn our ABC’s by the time we graduate college we are very well versed in English. Even when I was very young I remember
My first day of senior year had been just like every other year, except my schedule was very basic. The goals I had in mind were mainly outside of my time in school. I had been taking college courses online to better prepare myself for college and to eliminate costs in classes, so I had to make sure I passed all of them. Another goal had been to save money from my job to accomplish personal goals after I exit high school.
As I get ready to face my senior year, no body can predict what is going to happen like the weather. Weather is a great example to represent the coming senior year, sometimes it is good and sometimes it is bad. There is nothing much I can do about it. Even though there is a forecast, but still, there is going to be something unexpected.
If someone ask me what is my favorite memories in high school for now. I’ll says that is my sophomore year. Because sophomore year is the year that changed my mind and my life, the year that I meet my awesome friend and everyone look at me a different way and here is what happened to my sophomore year.
Time flies. I will soon finish high school and move to college. The first semester of senior year is the most important period during my life, but I still have a Dragon I need to beat. The Dragon is called Procrastination. He has troubled me for my whole life, and I have never killed him before. During my senior year, I have to try to combat him, beat him, and destroy him.
Year 9 camp is still fresh in my mind. Although it is already a few weeks ago I just can’t seem to forget it. There were so many events that helped me learn more about nature, and more importantly, myself. One such event was the morning of the fourth (4th) day of camp. My group needed to cross the mighty Coorong river to reach the mainland. Why was this event so important to me? Well, crossing the Coorong wasn't designed to be easy. We were paddling across the current which was constantly threatening to send us back to shore or upside down. The instructors had drilled it into us that we were not allowed to stop paddling. This morning showed me that I had strength I didn't even know I possessed.
The school rule “students must partake in extracurricular activity” is a significant disturbance to students whom are in their final year of secondary education. Extracurricular activities such as sports day and compulsory sport for the school produces an inconvenience to senior students whom have hoards of assignments to complete and tests to revise for. A better alternative to this rule would be to provide senior students the option of partaking in extracurricular activities if they wish to do so. This provides senior students with hours of extra free time in which they will be able to complete assignments and study for tests. In addition, the work load in year 12 is already a struggle for students to juggle and the addition of extracurricular
While senior year seems to be what every high schooler is daydreaming about, walking into high school on the first day of freshman year is nerve racking. It is almost impractical not to feel overwhelmed. It seemed unimaginable that, throughout the next four years, every day will be spent eating lunch, and walking the halls with the people I was surrounded by. Just like winning an Oscar, becoming a senior in high school tends to be just as celebrated. Although they bear some similarities, the differences between the expectations and realities of senior year are clear.
If utilized properly and effectively, these techniques could exponentially help students in not only their English 101 class, but with every single other class they take from then on. Having students be able to understand topics and ideas as well as the techniques used to help decipher them is a very handy and versatile tool. In the end Beaufort concluded that “Transfer of learning cannot happen without reflection.” (Beaufort 38) Reflections are often are overlooked within classes, which is a huge mistake because they help students better grasp concepts and ideas. If reflections were incorporated earlier within a student's career especially during the critical times of freshman year English courses, there wouldn’t be problems with transfer
As January first rolls around each year, thousands of people on social media sites post the same phrase, "This is going to be my year." What does this mean, exactly? Are they going to exercise more, or eat healthier? People want to believe they can have an impact on the quality of their year, when they only aspect actually within their control is themselves. A simple and effective way to go about this is to choose a single word for the year. This could be an area to work on improving, or just a meaningful word to the individual. For 2016, I have chosen to focus on the word efficient. I believe this is an area upon which I could use some work, because I am better mentally, physically, and emotionally when I have an efficient lifestyle. This
