I liked the way the actors showed us the story. They did a great job and they showed that life was really hard back then. The part that stood out to me most was how life was back then. Marriage was chosen by parents and life was really brutal. For example you just come home and your parents tell you’re getting married to this or that person. You have no choice so you have to stick with it. Also people on horses will come by the name of Herod and you have to pay taxes. If you don’t you get killed or your child is taken. There was no talking of the genealogy of Jesus in the movie. If there was it would take a long time for them to say it.I would be scared a little bit because seeing and hearing an angel is like hearing God! But I would follow the instructions and it will be all right. …show more content…
Everything you do, God helps you. He gives you knowledge and strength to conquer everyday. I would be scared to see Herod because he didn’t care if you died, he just killed people straight up. Herod had a stone heart and he even didn’t care to kill his sons. He hung them and his son would also be killed if he betrayed his father.Jesus helped people live back then and they became strong in faith! That is a good thing because we need Jesus in our lives. He helps us everyday with our lives. He helps us make friends and have a good time at school. Life without Jesus is very hard and you won’t go to Heaven if you don’t believe! It is important for you Spiritual and Physical life. Believe in Jesus and everything will be covered by him. Even though you want something right now and you aren’t getting it, that doesn’t mean Jesus hates you. It means that His answer sometimes is no! Jesus always cares for us always.
Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman—what do all these characters have in common? They are all products of the human aspiration to be saved. The word hero is passed around too much these days. A hero is not a football player that scores the game-winning touchdown or the goaltender who saves his team from a loss. A hero is usually an ordinary person that did extraordinary things. A true hero is really never a hero at all; at least not in their own mind. However, there are various cases today in which we see the exact opposites of these characters, the anti-heroes. The anti-hero is one who cannot be classified as a hero, for that said character lacks natural heroic qualities. However, the anti-hero cannot be described as a villain either.
Although some special effects are limited, overall they did not distract too greatly from the message of the movie. I would encourage my family and friends to watch this film, simply because it is filled with themes of truth that often are ignored in modern society. It does not leave one dreading death and the ensueing aftermath, but rather gives a perspective resounding with the Catholic's faith central message of hope without being “preachy”. Self-sacrifice and forgiveness are displayed as necessary and fruitful virtues for the human condition. Ultimately, the movie left me excited for heaven, but not a shallow heaven full of earthly comforts, but one where I will know and be known purely and wholly by God and
V for Vendetta is one of the famous graphic novels in England which was written by Alan Moore and David Lloyd in 1988. Many people debated after they had read this book about V's actions -the main character and they keep debating it until now. Some people say that his actions are not justifiable. He is really a terrorist, not a hero as people think. He killed many people, even though, he forced Evey in the terrible situation, that is to make her become a prisoner. However, contrary to them, a lot of people else give their opinions that his actions are wholly justifiable. He helps people escape the bad things, helps them find freedom in the bad living and makes Evey becomes stronger day by day. To prove that V is a hero or really a terrorist,
There are many types of heroes (such as the ones in comic books, myths, movies, or even just everyday life heroes) but all of them have perseverance when they’re going through a conflict. Heroes are role models and they’re people that we look up too. They all have unique and special qualities that make one another different from each other. For example policemen battle crime everyday and when they’re overcoming a conflict they have determination, courage and other traits that people admire them for and that make them as a hero. Typically a hero is admired for their achievement/actions and qualities.
In many, a tragedy do the tragic heroes have flaws that lead themselves to their own demise. The main character always acts exactly on his or her own emotions; thus aiding their tragic flaw and leading to their own demise without giving them the time to stop the repercussions of their emotion driven actions. In the play “Antigone” by Sophocles many of the characters are simply too headstrong and passionate about their beliefs to realize that they would greatly regret the decisions they are making. All of the characters share this characteristic; it is alluded to in the play that this is caused by their blood relation to Oedipus and how they are too cursed.
Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Notes from the Underground (1864/2008) comes across as a diary penned by a self-described “spiteful” and “unattractive” anonymous narrator (p. 7). The narrator’s own self-loathing characterized by self-alienation is so obvious, that he is often referred to by critics as the Underground Man (Frank 1961, p. 1). Yet this Underground Man is the central character of Dostoyevsky’s novel and represents a subversion of the typical courageous hero. In this regard, the Underground man is an anti-hero, since as a protagonist he not only challenges the typical literary version of a hero, but also challenges conventional thinking (Brombert 1999, p. 1).
The scribe did not notice the eyes of the horseman turn northward and look with pride, scorn and a smugness toward the Mariamme Tower. This was only seventy-four feet high, but one of the most beautiful and characteristic towers ever conceived and designed. Built as the final of three wall towers, it was named for King Herod's first and most loved Hasmonean wife, whom he had murdered so he could marry his evil seductive mistress, Herodias. The tower Simon feasted his eyes on past that shorter tower was the Phasael Tower, named after Herod's brother as of today stood as the tallest structure in all of Israel. “Until this afternoon!” thought Simon. “I will build a higher structure than any! It will be higher and remain
“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” (Campbell 1). When we think of heroes most of us think of movie stars or professional athletes, but it’s not always about your popularity or talent it can also be about how you help society. What I think make a great hero is someone who is able to overcome his or her obstacles in life, is highly motivated, and has plenty of bravery.
Many people consider him the father of history; others prefer to call him the father of lies. Whatever may be your perception of Herodotus’ work, the truth is that Herodotus began a new manner of writing history in which human psychology takes a fundamental place. He was the first historian who really considered the reasons why things happen and did not limit his narrative to just facts. His book The Histories evidences all the distinctive features that he employs through his description of facts as well as the intrinsic analysis that he includes to his storyline about controversial topics like the definition of what heroes really are. Indeed, The Histories’ book 7 reveals Herodotus’ astonishing and unique view of heroism. During his
“Wake up, young hero, it is time for you to stand up to darkness once more. You have been in deep slumber in this shrine for a hundred years. Walk out of the shrine to fulfill your destiny,” said the mysterious voice.
I gave part ten a rating of “Good” because of the way I think that Jesus would react to this film. I do not think that Jesus would be naïve enough to not recognize the demonic qualities of the child angel at the end. I thought John Michael put it succinctly in that Jesus would have recognized that anyone who tells him that he is not the Messiah is against him and is probably related to Satan in some way. This is where I disagree with Alex on the thought that this depiction was an accurate representation of Jesus’
What is a hero? In my view a hero is someone that you admire. You may
Zhang Yimou’s thrilling film Hero is both an emotional and exhilarating experience. Hero combines the use of action-packed scenes as well as a beautiful love story. Nameless, Broken Sword and Flying Snow, the main characters, team up to eventually kill the King of Qin who had murdered a number of people with the Qin army including both Flying Snow and Nameless’s father. Although the Qin army is an enemy of Broken Sword and Flying Snow’s people, it is a personal issue to assassinate the king. Throughout the film the audience is exposed to the developing love that forms between Broken Sword and Flying Snow. While their love unfolds, many battles of combat arise between enemies and allies. When Nameless joins Broken Sword and Flying Snow,
Good evening to Madam Sathiadevi and my fellow classmates. It is indeed a great pleasure to spend this wonderful evening with all of you today. Today I’ll be talking about a moral value that I have learned from the movie ‘Take the Lead’. The value that I learned is self-confidence when the polite ballroom dance instructor Pierre Dulaine sees a teenager vandalizing a car and on the next day he volunteers to teach dance to students to give value, dignity, trust and teamwork. Eventhough the teenagers who prefer hip-hop or rap, think it wasn’t a great idea but Dulaine catches the students' attention with a tango session and they started practicing ballroom dancing. Dulaine received criticism from parents and teachers who has got no hope on
According to the Lacanian/ Butlerian formulation, Herod the main male character in the play could be seen as the enforcer of the patriarchal and heterosexual law. He would also, according to this formulation, be constantly desirous of the phallus, and in fear of losing it. Herod apparently has appropriated his position of power through marriage to Herodias (70). The Tetrarch seems to always be in a position of wanting more than he already has. In the play, his desire for his brother’s power (conflated with his desire for his brother’s wife and her royal lineage,) led him to imprison and finally to execute his brother: “the Tetrarch’s brother, his older brother, the first husband of Herodias the Queen, was imprisoned…At the end of the twelve years he had to be
