The other research method being conducted in the form of case studies has the advantages that it does not rely on sampling, as it studies a social unite in entire perspectives. It is a useful method for forming a hypothesis for further study, furthermore it increases the knowledge of the researcher to have a higher analytical power (Farooq: 2013). They are also a beneficial choice of research method due to their flexibility, case studies can be conducted at any point of the research process.

There are several research approaches available for researchers to choose. Therefore, it is essential that researchers choose the best research approach for their problem statement and purpose. The purpose of this paper is to develop three hypothetical research approaches, compare, and contrast the three research approaches. The three approaches chosen are the case study approach, survey research approach, and the ex post facto approach.

There are many different types and designs of case studies that each use a different approach to qualitative research (Berg & Lune, 2012). The first type is intrinsic case studies (Berg & Lune, 2012). This type of case study occurs when a researcher wants to further their understanding of a particular case; the uniqueness of the case becomes fascinating and appealing. The goal is not to test or develop a new theory, but to further the understanding of the case. The data from this type of case study may stimulate ideas that would be applicable to other cases.

The basis of case research is case studies (Voss, Tsikriktsis & Frohlich, 2002). It is best to conduct case research in capturing the knowledge of practitioners and developing theories from it (Benbasat, Goldstein & Mead, 1987).

Yin (1993) has identified some specific types of case studies: Exploratory, Explanatory, and Descriptive. Stake (1998) included three others: intrinsic, instrumental and collective. An intrinsic case study is typically undertaken to learn about a unique phenomenon. The researcher should define the uniqueness of the phenomenon, which distinguishes it from all others. In contrast, the instrumental case study uses a particular case (some of which may be better than others) to gain a broader appreciation of an issue or phenomenon.

This chapter will focus on the research methods application and explain why use these research methods to accomplish this case study. This study was used the qualitative method to collect various data in order to get more depth and comprehensive information to explore the questions of this study. The qualitative method mainly used in exploratory research on objectives, it can be used to obtain potential causes, ideas, and motivations. Furthermore, the qualitative method can also provide more in-depth problem-solving methods and explore new ideas in objectives of the study (Cohen, 2006).
