I strongly contradict with your decision to cancel our 8th grade advancement and the dance following it . I am very confident by writing this letter you will reconsider the decision you have made. There is no reason strong enough to cancel the 8th grade advancement. The 8th grade advancement and dance has been a tradition at BTMS for many years. It is an event that most students look forward to starting at the beginning of the school year. My opinion and probably many other students to is that you shouldn't cancel it.
Some of the reasons that I feel that the advancement and the dance should continue to be an event is because numbers of students have already begun planning for it. A handful of girls has already begun to look at dresses and shoes for this event. Shopping for dresses is very time consuming. Also, a few girls have already purchased items for the dance. If the dance is cancelled, parents have already put money toward the event for nothing.

There have already been a few meetings to begin planning this event and many parents eager to help. As a result of the dance being cancelled, parents have put forward their time and effort for absolutely nothing. Lastly I have spoken to a few students have told me their long distance relatives are coming to see them advance. You wouldn’t want to take away an opportunity for students to feel proud in front of relatives they don't see very often because of distance.
In conclusion, this is why I feel we shouldn't have our advancement and dance cancelled. This event is a moment for many students to feel proud of their accomplishments. It is our last event as middle schoolers and a time where we could make memories to cherish forever. I hope you reconsider your decision about the
Families and friends welcome to Montgomery Village Middle School 8th grade promotional ceremony. Today we embark on a new chapter of our lives as we end our middle school careers. We’ve spent the past three years of our lives in this wonderful place. We were given the opportunity to grow and learn. Our teachers, one of our biggest supporters, the ones we have built relationships with. Our teachers have seen us grow. They have been our guiding hands throughout our middle school career. The teachers in this school deserve the world. They motivate us each and every one of us each day. Most of us were able to mature throughout middle careers. We’ve grown aware of our surroundings. When I started volunteering at Utica Dance in the fall of 2014, I was just as nervous as the newly enrolled dancers in the class I was about to teach. Even though I was only the Volunteer Assistant to the Dance Instructor, I felt as if a heavy responsibility was placed upon me. I oversaw almost twelve children ranging from seven to thirteen who all wanted desperately to become professional dancers, many of which are still pursuing that dream. On top of that, all these children had begged their parents to sign them up for an expensive, intensive fundamental ballet program; then dragged their parents to buy tights and leotards; then dragged them into the waiting room of a dance
Abby Payne at Lake Travis High School claims her team is all about the show. They do football, contest, and spring show but spring show is the team’s favorite. One thing that seemed unique about her team is that they devote an entire group or the “Elite team” to preparing the dancers who want to dance collegiately. This is a great idea when you are in an area like Lake Travis because those dancers work hard in both academics and dance so they are more likely to attend prestigious schools that have excellent dance teams. It is a wonderful that Abby is taking steps to set them up for success in their future. Another thing that is interesting to me is that Abby encourages them to be in other organizations and to involve themselves in other things besides dance team so they can build their resumes. From my experience a lot of directors prefer their dancers keep the dance team as the number one priority and to not make too many other time commitments that take away from their devotion to the team. Restricting a student from wearing a religious or cultural accessory or hairpiece while participating in an extracurricular or athletic activity; 2. Academic eligibility, Grades 9-12, changing the specific letter grade for passing to the word passing; 3. Cumulative eligibility check, changing the time period for how long a student remains ineligible for two weeks at the semester; and, 4. Changes in the area of academic eligibility for Grades 6-8. Currently, the middle schools use a rubric scoring to determine grades. There is a need to change the passing grade from D to 2.0. There were no additional recommendations
Our coaches had told us since the beginning that the months and months we would spend preparing for one particular day would all be worth it in the end. Taking place at New Castle Fieldhouse in early March 2015, I competed in the IHSDTA Dance team competition with my fellow teammates and members of the NHS dance team. We walked into the vast, expansive Fieldhouse knowing that it was the largest High School Fieldhouse in the Nation. The anticipation in the air was electric and full of excited chatter of girls who had been preparing for months for this one day… actually for these two minutes.
This level of learning is used throughout life as a child for learning/developing and as an adult for social purposes and building relationships. I felt that this article gave me a superior understanding of the ways a community can change a group of peoples lives through dance and learning. This article made me feel aware of the ways my nephew moves and learns. As a child, I took dance classes and after reading this article I realized how dance helped me develop into an adult. First of all, there is very little funding that goes into dance, considering it is a sport and needs to be equal to the other athletics. At Madisonville North Hopkins High School the dance team starts out the season with only the remaining money that the team raised the previous season, it is different from other sports. A handful of 8th Graders are furious of the cancellation of the 8th Grade advancement. We believe that there is no reason to cancel the 8th Grade Advancement. There are numerous reasons why students here are capsized. We postulate that it has been a BTMS tradition and should not leave for the sake of us and other upcoming 8th Graders.
I am on my school dance team, the Pacesetters. We are known nationwide for our consecutive national wins, and our slightly eccentric spring show. Having this reputation didn’t come without hard work and sacrifices. Pacesetters along with the other extra-curricular activities I have participated in, taught me principles that will help me achieve my long term goals.
This program identifies both physical activity and the creative and performing art endeavors. At the honor roll ceremony, I noticed that almost all of the students, junior and senior high, were all recognized. In addition, 0% of students, in the junior high, were ineligible in the past nine weeks. Since our school is already surpassing the requirements made, why not raise them? It’s becoming too easy to be eligible, with the obviously intelligent students we have here at Little River schools. It will put more emphasis on schoolwork and students will be able to achieve even more impressive and notable grades. This new requirement will force students to do the best they can, and make their grades even better. School comes before athletics. There’s a reason the term “student-athlete” is used.
Everyday, I go into the studio and hear a generous hello from a staff member. If the vibrant dance bags, and leather jet black couches do not make you feel at home, then the dancers will. Mallory Flores is an intern and dancer of 15 years at Encore Studio, and thinks Encore’s sense of community is what makes everyone feel at home whenever they step onto the dance floor. Not only does the sense of community keep the dancers going, but it keeps the business running, as Karen Flores stated she loves how “the people she sees come in and out of the studio have a constant positive energy radiating off of them”. Yet, being at the studio for up to fourteen hours a week for some dancers does not keep them from coming in and enjoying the curriculum taught in class. Not only does it drive the dancers to come to class, but it keeps the teachers motivated to continue to put out their best work too. Angelina Gallo thinks that “The dancers at Encore are so passionate, they are kind, they are genuinely good people… I think a lot of this stems from the dance training and the people that they are surrounded by on a daily basis. I hold my membership as a homeroom representative in my high school’s Student Government in especially high regard. What led me to value this organization and to join it was due to the fact that I wanted to become an involved member of my high school community. This goal would have proven difficult if I had not joined Student Government because I did not know a single student in my grade before enrolling in my high school. On another note, student government needs its members to help out at various functions—which aid in unifying the school—such as dances or weekly lunchtime events.
